American Sniper (2014)
Glorification of war at its best
I'm sorry but I just can't leave this film uncommented. First the plot: the film shows the biography of Chris Kyle, with 160 hits the most successful sniper in the history of the US military. Some of you may have asked yourself the question from my previous sentence: can one describe a person who killed 160 people as successful? Unfortunately, this question is not addressed at all in this film. Chris Kyle is celebrated as a war hero and is given the label of "the legend". His post-traumatic stress disorders are also only described as "I gladly did it for the fatherland". It must be the task of every war film to show that war is always bad and that excessive patriotism is out of place. "American Sniper" can't do that either. There is not a single point in the entire film that explains the conflict in Iraq. You just get thrown into this massacre along the lines of "we are the Americans and the good guys and these are the Iraqis and the bad guys". I don't think this way of producing a film is good, but my judgment goes beyond my opinion: this film is dangerous because it glorifies war and doesn't explain the suffering that people in crisis areas have to experience. Due to the interesting settings and the good acting, however, a generous 6 out of 10 points.
Spider-Man (2002)
Not my favourite
Usually I like Spider-Man movies. I absolutely love the ones with Tom Holland and I do like the films where Andrew Garfield played Peter Parker, but I don't like this one that much. But let's start off with the good things about this movie. I really enjoyed the part when Peter was trying to handle with his new powers and when he was trying to manage to not letting others know that he is Spider-Man. And one of the best scenes in my opinion was when Norman Osborne stood in front of his mirror and found out about his real identity and that he murdered the people who were in the board of directors. But now I want to tell you why I gave this movie only 5 stars anyway. The costume of the Green Goblin looks absolutely ridiculous. When I saw it, I really didn't know what to say. This mask is terrible. And he wants to have the power over the whole world... why? Just because he is the evil one in the movie and Spider-Man is the good one and the latter needs someone to defeat. Yes, of course Dr. Stromm said that the side effects of the strength-enhancing serum are madness and raging around, but is this really the only reason that Norman wants to have the power over everything? And even if this is, why does he want to kill Peter? Because he is the only one who could hold up Norman? OK, I guess this is a reason which is comprehensible, but although - good villains like Thanos in Infinity War, Loki in Avengers or Killmonger in Black Panther have a good heart and you can feel it in some way. But about the Green Goblin? I felt nothing. It felt like he was only there because the movie makers needed someone evil who Peter can defeat. Of course I have seen worse movies before, I would not have given five stars then, but this is not very great.
The Imitation Game (2014)
Above average
I want to start off with the good things about this movie. First of all, I want to give Benedict Cumberbatch all the respect I have for his incredible performance. He would definitely have deserved the Oscar in 2015 when he was nominated. All in all the movie is fun and exciting. But there is not a major plot twist. Even in the trailer you can see that they manage to decrypt Enigma. But, as I said, a good movie and worth to watch.
Den skyldige (2018)
Great movie with incredible Plot Twist
I saw this movie at home yesterday and I am still absolutely impressed. This movie takes place in only one room, but this makes the film even better because the point of view of Asger, the main character, is getting very clear and you can put into him very well. What the movie makes a 8 or even a 9 star film is the plot twist. I do not want to spoil, so this is everything I can say. To sum up it is an very exciting movie which is definitely worth to watch.
