Black Ribbon (2007)
I enjoyed the film....
Another refreshing Thriller from John Orrichio. The movie has good character development, good plot, acting and some very strange twists. Tony Rugnetta, New Jersey actor, who was in a few Soprano episodes and a film with Frank Sinatra way back when plays a writer who becomes possessed by the spirit of sadist when he buys a haunted typewriter. As for comments made by reviewers like Strazdamonas who claim to edit better, do everything better, one has to ask If he can do all of this, why doesn't he have any films in distribution? If his only claim to fame is a youtube video, maybe he does watch paint dry. Ignore posts by ignorant wannabes and watch it for yourself. Joe Franklin appears in a brief role as Tony's father. If you enjoyed watching him on TV as I did growing up, you'll get a kick out of seeing him again. Still the same old Joe.
Hostel (2005)
GARBAGE, don't waste your time
Who told Eli Roth that he was a writer, a director? I'd like to know who gave him the money to produce such crap? This is so bad and stupid. The sex scenes don't fit and most likely put there to get teenage boys to spend their money viewing it. The acting is plain horrible. No story, no plot, nobody cares what happens to the actors. They have the nerve to use a music track from "The Wicker Man" (old version) during a sex scene. Mr. Roth should go back to guarding doors for people like Howard Stern, He's not at all talented. It's a crime that he has been allowed to produce such trash. Such a waste of everyones time and money.
Requiem for a Vampire (2006)
A very unusual movie sure to be a Cult Classic
Although an independent film, the cinematography is very good. It's not your typical Vampire movie. It's more in the keeping of the Ann Rice novels. It takes place in modern times and in all places, New Jersey! You get to take a look inside a Vampire family and see what they must do to survive in these days of forensic science. Director John Orrichio and Producer Karl Petry do a wonderful job on a very low budget. The ending has a twist that you would never anticipate. The music is excellent and deserves its own release on CD. All in all, if you're tired with all the same junk coming out of the major studios, give this a look. You'll enjoy!
