Babylon (2022)
WTF did I just see
Singing in the rain meets Nightmare alley. There's a great 90 minute movie in there somewhere. Much of it is juvenile gross outs.
The story line is basically singing in the rain. There's the aging actor not transitioning to talkies. The not so ingenue like ingenue play well at first. Well there is that teen movie barf scene. There is a wild kingdom moment.
It's like if Hollywood A listers had acted in porkys. Can't tell you how it ended. We walked out at 2:30 out of 3:09. It's been years since we walked on a movie. Can't unsee it, cant get a refund.
Like the characters in the movie the movie self destructs after a while.
Frontier Marshal (1939)
Total nonsense but great movie
The best part is when Dentist Doc Holiday preforms a complex surgery on a gaming table in a saloon.
The only reality in the movie is that tombstone, Earp and Holiday really existed.
Buffalo Soldiers (1997)
Typical western
They turned a great cast and production into a good movie but not historically correct. Typical of older westerns. They turned it into a propaganda piece.
The tenth Cavalry produced enough history and hero's to have been historically accurate.
Mag Wheels (1978)
Rape movie
This 1978 rape movie is being rebranded as summer school and listed as a comedy on Netflix.in the seventies these kind of movies were called drive in movies. That's about the only place that showed them. Later to be called exploitation movies.
I'm guessing everyone it it regrets it.
Last of the Comanches (1953)
I have seen this before
In Bogarts movie Sahara a small band of army survivors are holed up in a desert oasis surrounded by a Much larger German army force.
The germans have the men but no water. Bogie has few men but controls the well. The Germans don't know the well is empty.
In Crawford's movie a small band of Troopers and civilian are holed up in a desert oasis surrounded by Comanches.
The troopers small force hold the well. The Comanches larger force have no water. The Comanches don't know the well is empty.
Same script two movies.
7th Cavalry (1956)
Good movie, bad history.
Captain Benson rides 800 miles south to Ft Supply to collect his fiancé. They then ride 800 miles back to Fort Lincoln. They could have taken the train to Bismarck 13 miles away..
The Little Bighorn Battlefield is 400 miles east of Ft Lincoln. A lot or riding. Or you can take steamboats to about 40 miles from the Little Bighorn.
After the battle the victors mutated most of the bodies except Custer. The Indian Nations then scattered leaving the survivors of the regiment on the field.
Two days after battle the seventh buried there own in hasty graves. They only had four entrenching tools. They left in a hurry with many wounded and low on ammunition.
A year later a survey was made. All the human bones found were buried.
Two years after the battle a more organized burial and a monument was built. Many of the officers were exhumed including Custer. He is buried at West Point.
Like most Scott westerns they are fun to watch. The writers rewrote the history.
