Crossing Jordan (2001)
Pretty Bad
I loved Jill Hennessy On "Law & Order" so I had high hopes for this one, but it's just bad. First off, the premise is ridiculous, I've never seen "Quincy, M.E." but a crime solving medical examiner is a little far fetched. Not to mention the fact that she seems to have all the time in the world to go chasing down crooks. But let's not nitpick, there are bigger issues. The supporting cast is annoying. The whiney Lily, the imbecilic Nigel and "Bug", just to name a few. Jill Hennessy's character is cool enough but kind of contrived and shallow. And how many shots do we need of her looking breathless and beautiful. We know she's pretty, now we need some other reason to care about her. This show has had some great ideas in terms of storylines but overall it's a great disappointment.
The Wonderful World of Disney: Child Star: The Shirley Temple Story (2001)
So disappointing
This movie was awful! Ashley Rose Orr, while a talented tap dancer, and singer (actually a little better than Temple was in terms of the latter), is a terrible actress. She plays the character as the Shirley that we saw on screen in her movies whether she's playing her onscreen or offscreen persona. So what we get is an overly cutesy, and wholly unrealistic (not to mention uninteresting) portrait. If one wants to see that side of her, one can just rent one of her movies. The only bright light here is Connie Britton's portrayal of Gertrude Temple. I don't think it was terribly realistic, but at least it was well acted. Save yourself the trouble and rent The Poor Little Rich Girl.
Ocean's Eleven (2001)
Highly Entertaining
This movie was sleek, cool and highly entertaining. George Clooney really shines in one of the first big screen roles I think he was really made for. The supporting cast is also excellent. You don't get to know many of them terribly well but they really do manage to stand out just the same. My only complaint would be with Matt Damon's character whose story you never really get to know. Other than that I highly recommend this film.
