Eric Dane is just bad
6 April 2024
The movie is so-so. I've certainly seen worse. But what I've not seen worse is Eric Dane's acting. I also saw him in The Ravine recently and he was equally bad. My wife says he was good in Grey's Anatomy but in my two experiences watching him in movies, well, he's just awful.

Odeyo is passable in her role as a teenager caught in difficult circumstances and I will definitely watch her in other films to see how her career progresses. Her character in this role, I think the writing left a little to be desired, but with what she had to work with I thought she did alright.

There is a lot of very slow speaking by actors. Made the movie drag on longer. All in all, probably better off finding something else to watch.

Horrible
30 October 2023
Maybe the most stupid movie I've ever watched. I made it through 40 minutes before giving up. The dialogue is ridiculous, the situations are ridiculous; I can't find one redeeming moment or really any reason to continue watching this ill-conceived idea for a movie. It still amazes me to this day how some ideas actually receive support and funding to find its way through production to the screen.

Just save yourself some time and if you are considering watching this movie based on what seemed like a reasonable description, stop here and just don't.

This feeble attempt at entertainment further justifies and solidifies my decision to cancel Apple TV. To increase the subscription rate from 7 to 10 while pushing this drivel on the consumer, we'll, Apple should be ashamed.

Decent story, horrible acting
29 June 2023
The story, even though a remake, was not terrible. Quite a few head scratching, rather silly events occur throughout. However, the acting, oh, the acting... the female characters were not good, but not horrible. But, every single male character, the actors are among the worst I've ever seen. It's as though a search ensued, a casting call, seeking the worst possible male character actors in the history of film.

Yes, I powered through to the end of this six episode series, the redeeming quality is that it is only six episodes and each is less than an hour long.

Unfortunately, this has become common for Netflix. And, at a time when they are cracking down on password sharing. Maybe not a great combination.

Slow, sad, and totally strays from the book
24 February 2023
I finished the book two weeks ago and liked it a lot. I was looking forward to the series. For some reason there are many characters in the series that are not in the book, and many that were in the book are a completely different character. There was very little, if any, bad language in the book but it is pervasive in the series. The changes only detract from the series in my opinion. Given that the author produced the series I'm unclear why she felt the need to essentially write a completely new novel.

It is mainly slow, character development is lacking, and there is little to interest the viewer to stay with it. Mainly, it's just disappointing.

Terrible acting/ decent script
29 February 2020
Quite possibly the worst acting I've ever seen. The movie itself was interesting enough for me to watch it, but frequently shaking my head at the horrible acting. Got a decent nap out of the deal though.
