A Christmas Movie Christmas (2019)
It's a spoof people!
It is a spoof people! It is supposed to be over the top. It has almost every Christmas trope that appear in Hallmark type Christmas movies. Everything is acted tongue-in-cheek as it is supposed to be in a spoof. The actors all seem to be having fun. Any over acting is on purpose. I don't understand some of the low scoring and negative comments. The movie delivers exactly what it promises. Laughs.
Ok, now I am just going to add words because I am supposed to have six hundred characters. Although I frequently see much shorter reviews. Some only a sentence or two. How do they do it? Ok, now I'm getting close. Done!
Never Been Chris'd (2023)
Points for Tyler Hynes
Five points for Tyler Hynes, one point for the rest. I will watch anything with Tyler Hynes in it but I probably won't watch this again. I like both of the female leads also but this was an embarrassment to them and an insult to women. They acted like two middle school students with a crush on the star athlete. Women, especially thirtyish successful business women do not act like that. The script must have been written as a school project. Or maybe it was in the direction. The second half was better than the first but that didn't save it. Too bad. The premise was interesting but something went very wrong.
A Country Wedding (2015)
Almost perfect
This is one of my favorite Hallmark movies. Autum Reeser and Jessie Metcalfe are two of my favorites. As with all movies of this type we know how it will end, but the journey to get there is enjoyable because of the chemistry between the leads. The fiancée was a bit too stereotypical. Why do the writers have to make them so self centered and scheming? Couldn't they just have the couple realize they weren't a good match. I also subtracted one point because of the horrible wig on Laura Mannell. She is such a beautiful woman but that hair! Very distracting. Come on Hallmark, couldn't you do better than a wig from a pop up Halloween store?
Christmas à La Carte (2021)
Pleasant Holiday Fare
Although the script was predicable and had the usual snowball fight, cookie baking and misunderstanding it ended with the kiss. I thought the leads had good chemistry. I disagree with a previous reviewer who called them "uggos". When people judge a movie based upon the looks of the main characters, I wonder what the reviewer looks like. He also must be blind. In addition to being good actors, Erin Agostino is very pretty and Dillon Casey is quite the handsome hunk. The supporting cast was very good especially young Maya Misaljevic and Deborah Tennant.
I liked the fact that the houses were not decorated too "over the top" ala Hallmark, but I wish these LA set designers would find out what real snow looks like. You don't have to show the dirty snow and slush, but having supposed day old snow look pristine only emphasizes the fact it's fake. FYI, poinsettias are a tropical plant and would never be outdoors in winter and if we have outside events we clear the walkways and festival sites.
A Novel Romance (2015)
No two weeks notice?
This movie contains a pet peeve of mine. In real life you don't just walk up to your boss and say "today is my last day and I am starting my own business in direct competition to yours" And, then the boss smiles and wishes her well? Seriously?
Otherwise this is not a bad movie for its type, even with the cheesy ending.
How to Pick Your Second Husband First (2018)
Watch the whole movie
I find it interesting that there are at least two bad reviews that are dated May 17, 2020 when the movie is premiering on Hallmark as I write this. Today is May 16th and the movie is not even half over. I like that the plot is a bit different from the typicaL where you know from the first five minutes what happens.
