Manchester by the Sea (2016)
Benchmark for cinema
You will be hard pressed to find any other film that's as realistic or emotionally demanding as this, this film truly is a representation of what large productions are missing. Everything about this film is flawless, from the performances, the cinematography and the dialogue. Casey Affleck left it all on the line for this one, without a doubt one of the best films of the decade, this truly is a film for the enthusiast.
The Terminator (1984)
Hey, just what you see pal.
This is Arnold at his absolute peak. Incredible script, makeup design, score and a very solid stable of an overlooked cast. In 2022 this film still holds up to today, with all the modern advancements and budgets, they still can't recreate the terror that was on display in the Terminator. This is an absolute top 100 must see film of all time and potentially, the greatest action sci-fi / horror movie of all time.
The Gringo Papi (2022)
Blogbustah.
No real hitting punchlines, no setups, fake crowd work, fake laughter, dubbed laugh track, average editing. The majority of it is 20+ minutes of borderline discombobulated stories about his Mexican in laws.
Schaub demonstrates respectable confidence but that's where it ends. This may be a ever so slight improvement over his first release of 'You'd Be Surprised' but overall, there is nothing in this that signifies it's worthy to be called a comedy special, this just looks like a recording of an open mic comic performing at a small suburban club.
Life of Crime 1984-2020 (2021)
Classic HBO
Incredible documentary. Maybe the rawest, unfiltered & emotionally charged films I have ever seen. This should be mandatory viewing in the education system. This will change the way you view addiction, the legal system & humanity as a whole, Jon Alpert's commitment to the project over a 35+ year period is something to be witnessed. How this is not getting the mainstream attention it deserves is beyond me, a truly must see film.
Brendan Schaub: You'd Be Surprised (2019)
Terrible
I would have rated it maybe 2-3 stars for effort alone but considering the inflated 10 star bribed fake reviews, I felt it is my civic duty to give it an honest rating.
Simply put, this is the worst comedy special I have ever seen and quite possibly, the worst comedy special of all time. I watched it out of curiosity alone, I don't know what Showtime were thinking putting Brendan Schaub who at best should be an mid week open-micer, a comedy special. It's truly baffling, how didn't anyone intervene ? I doubt we will be seeing a special from Brendan anytime soon, hopefully never if this is a sign of things to come.
