The Last of Us: Part II (2020)
Welp
This Is a spoiler free review.
The leak online that had the whole media outraged is in my opinion a tad overblown, but I wont get into that i'm reviewing this as a game not how much it offended me.
The game play is fantastic, better then the first one for sure. The graphics and animations and 10/10 absolutely beautiful. The game has a slow but very effective start and picks up really good by the 3 hour mark.
The problems are with the games story, new characters are introduced and a lot of them are very bland and don't even show up often. But of course the biggest problem with the story requires spoilers to get in to and i'm not gonna do that.
Is this game garbage? Absolutely not, is the leak that caused public outrage justified? sure. You can buy this game and still have a fun time but if your someone who gets offended easily by drastic change then maybe skip this one.
It ultimately falls short of the first game. The characters are weaker and the story is weaker, but the game play is still solid and seeing Ellie on her own journey is a good change.
Its NOT A BAD GAME. I wanna make that clear.

Outlast 2 (2017)
Don't
It shocks me that people consider this a genuinely good game. Everyone entitled to there own opinion, yea, and i'm entitled to disagree. Let me start with its positives.
The Graphics and voice acting is on point. Both fantastically done. The audio is the scariest part of the game, the music is eerie and the the sound design does help with the atmosphere of the game.
Now the bad.
The game's story makes absolutely no sense. Without going into too much detail, the main character has flashbacks to his childhood which is supposedly connected to the main plot. The school segments are some of the creepiest and most well done segments I though so what connects the flashback to the main plot, Nothing. Absolutely nothing. It makes me wonder why the hell the school flashbacks were even there. The main plot itself is very lackluster. There are many points in the main story that make no sense and worst of all. 70% of the game IS NOT SCARY
This is what the first outlast did perfectly. The claustrophobic environment of the asylum lead to little escape options that added to the scare factor as well as having memorable boss battles like Walker and Dr Trager. This is where Outlast 2 suffers. Most of the encounters are done in wide open environments meaning if you get spotted you can literally run circles until you find out what to do next.
There are "bosses" but I literally forgot there names, There's the girl with the cross and the Ferra/Torr ripoff's if that counts. The story also suffers from what I call Tomb Raider syndrome. The main character literally gets shoved through barbed wire and hanged on a cross and the fact he is still breathing does nothing but pull you out of the immersion which is especially detrimental in a horror game.
Simple fundamentals of video games. If your scary game is not scary its a failure
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (2016)
A Fantastic Experience Held Back Only By Its Developers
The Uncharted series reminds me of the stranger things tv show. Good but never great, OK here's a better analogy. Amazing but never perfect. A series like this has the potential to be perfect but is only held back by naughty dog sticking to the uncharted formula and never pushing the limits.
Say what you will about the story in these Uncharted games, Uncharted 1 through 4 basically has the same story, Drake and friends hunt for treasure, bad guys want same treasure, Drake finds out treasure is world threatening, Drake kills bad guy, destroys treasure, Sully, Elena and Drake live happily ever after.
Don't let take away from the fun game play elements in Uncharted 4, well some of it. Its the same basic cover base shooting since Uncharted 1 but had some cool puzzles and really does feel like an action adventure game through and through.
Overall Uncharted 4 is fantastic. There's no denying it, i'm simply explaining that this game could of been not only the best Uncharted (I personally think Uncharted 2 is the best) but be up there with the greatest games of all time. But it isn't, all because the formula was never changed. The gameplay is fun enough however so it doesn't feel repetitive.
Uncharted is an experience that should be played but don't expect the next Skyrim or Ocarina of time here.
Doom Eternal (2020)
An Instant Classic, Leaving Its Mark On The FPS Genre For Years To Come
This game for me is a top 5 greatest FPS games ever made. It is so much fun I can't even describe it. It adds more weapons from the previous doom while bring back old ones making the experience still feel fresh. New demons to slaughter some of them being super challenging and boss battles galore, however the bosses are at bit weak compared to the last doom but still fun in its own way. The
progression is also perfect, it doesn't make you completely overpowered too soon, the weapons are earned at a steady pace and armor and weapon upgrades are split up well between levels.
The few negatives I can think of are the fact that the mid can get really easy, mainly when you get the super shotgun and its story is weak, but are you really buying a Doom game for its story. Didn't think so.
If you enjoy FPS games this is a must buy and so far a front runner for game of the year.
Resident Evil 3 (2020)
A Crushing Disappointment
Let me clarify, I think Resident Evil 2 (Remake) is the best Resident Evil game, overtaking Resident Evil 4 even. I loved that game so much and couldn't wait for this game. Bigger and better I thought. I was wrong. If anyone tells you this is the best resident evil game they are lying or don't know video games. Lets start with the good.
Gameplay, graphics, atmosphere is all fantastic. It has an enhanced experience from RE2, the nemesis himself is one of the scariest enemies of ever faced in a game, very challenging but very fair and rewarding at the same time. Now the bad.
I beat the main story in 3 hours and 20 minutes. let me repeat that 3 HOURS AND 20 MINUTES. For Comparisons sake, Leon's story took me 6 hours and Claire's took me 5 hours, and those were 2 separate campaigns in the same game. There's only 1 in RE3 and the worst part. There is absolutely nothing after the main story, not another campaign no mercenaries or ghost survivor like the last game there is quite literally no replayability. It doesn't help that the game is really easy at the halfway point. Jill's 3nd weapon is literally a grenade launcher that evaporates pretty much every enemy in the game, and Carlo's has an assault rifle in all his segments, meaning taking care of ordinary zombies is a legit walk in the park, losing its survival horror feeling.
Despite those negatives 3 hours of gameplay was absolutely fantastic. If it was even 2 hours longer I'd recommend it but as it stands you'll be spending full price for a 3-4 hour experience. If you love Resident Evil, wait for it to go on sale. With its lack of content its not worth full price.
Let me clarify another thing. Nobody and I mean nobody should be spending full price for such a short experience. As much as I hate to say it, don't buy it. wait for a sale or don't buy it at all.
