I really liked the 60% of this movie that I saw. The other 40% I missed because I was cowering behind my coat. I liked the pacing, I liked the shooting, and was involved in the admittedly sometimes flimsy storyline. There is a circular pattern to the plot and I happen to like that structure.
Unlike a lot of people who have commented here, I believe there is a much closer relationship between Tim, with his "vivid imagination", and the Boogeyman. It is like Frankenstein, in a way, because Tim's extraordinary imagination, and his deep belief in the Boogeyman essentially brings him to life. And really, the little girl's father couldn't defeat the Boogeyman because he wasn't its creator. As such, Tim is still essentially responsible for all of the monster's murders. And if on a different night, Tim got the idea from some more totemic items around his bedroom, he could easily bring him back again.
There were some barely credible moments in this movie, but suspending your belief is the name of the game. It's not a major film by any means, and well worth renting. Yay for scary movies!
