Chicago (2002)
Possibly the Best Film of 2002!
This was one of the best films of 2002. The cast was marvelous and the dances were great but the best part was the music! Catherine Zeta Jones has a beautiful voice, that comes alive in this movie. And who knew that Richard Gere himself was a good singer!? Renee Zellweger did a fantastic job too. I loved everything about this movie! It had all the basic movie elements in it: musical, comedy, crime, drama, I could go on and on. This film has a major chance of snagging a few Oscars this year!
Gangs of New York (2002)
A Movie That All Americans Should See
What an incredible movie! This movie goes into full detail about a major time period in our country that seemed to escape the history books. This is a movie that all Americans should see in order to appreciate and respect their country more. It's unbelievable to think that Martin Scorsese came up with the idea for this movie when he was seven years old! I think he is an incredible director and the movie goes into his hall of fame along with 'Goodfellas' and 'Casino'. This movie has a great history to it that makes us understand and appreciate our country along with its people.
Just Married (2003)
I'm sorry, did this movie have a plot to it??
I love Ashton Kutcher. I think he has the potential to be the next Jim Carey. He is such a talented young actor that has that potential but wastes it on movies like this. Now, I will admit there was some humor to it, but there was no purpose to the movie. It was a lot like the 1998 movie, 'The Out-of-Towners' with Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn. It was that kind of movie where just a lot of stupid things happened. Now if you like those kinds of movies, I recommend this, but otherwise, don't waste your money.
Catch Me If You Can (2002)
An Amazing and Entertaining Film!!
I loved this movie! It wasn't a typical Steven Spieldberg movie, which is what made it so great. It had excellent performances in it from Leonardo Dicaprio, Tom Hanks, Christopher Walken, and Martin Sheen. This movie was so amazing and unreal that it seems impossible for it to be based on a true story, but surprisingly it is! I do think Leonardo deserves the Golden Globe nomination he got for this role, and possibly an Oscar, but I was surprised Tom Hanks did not get one because I thought he did an excellent job as well. I hope 'Catch Me If You Can' makes it to the Oscars!!
Maid in Manhattan (2002)
Not the best romantic comedy, but it had its moments.
This wasn't the best romantic comedy I've ever seen, but it had it's briefly humorous moments. I thought the cast was great especially the performances by Stanley Tucci, Natasha Richardson, Tyler Posey, and Bob Haskins. I think Jennifer Lopez has done better parts, but she wasn't that bad in this movie. If you're the kind of person that gets all "gushy" over these movies, I recommend it. I think you'll enjoy it. But, on the other hand i would recommend another movie.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
The Best Movie of 2002!!
This movie was unbelievable! In some way, it might be better then the first. It's like 'The Godfather Pt.2', it was a phenominal movie, but in order to fully understand it and appreciate it, you have to see the first one. At the moment, I'm reading 'The Two Towers' and though some parts have been altered, Peter Jackson has so far done an incredible job living up to the book's expectations. The movie has amazing cinematograpy, costumes, setting, makeup, characters, and a beautiful score. This movie was nominated for a couple of Golden Globes, and though it is up against some fierce competition, I hope it will pull through. I know for a fact though that it will be nominated for several Oscars. 'The Two Towers' all the way!!
They (2002)
Very Few Scares and A Horrible Ending
When I saw the trailer for this movie I thought it was going to be a really scary horror movie, but it did not live up to the expectations I thought it would. There are very few scares and thrills in the movie and of course, it is filled with the characters reacting to their so-called terrifying situations in the most idiotic way. The ending of this movie was the worst part of all. Now, I don't want to give away any spoilers, but if you want to see a real thrilling horror movie...stay away from this one!
Eight Crazy Nights (2002)
I'm sorry, I thought this was suppose to be a comedy!!
Ok, there were very few slightly funny parts of the movie, but for the most part all the laughs are in the commercial. I think Adam Sandler is a comedic genius, but his work fails in this movie. His character is practically the same as in his past movies, except only animated. The thing that I did enjoy about this movie that made me give it a 5 rather then something lower was the music. I actually thought the music was pretty cool and fun. For the most part, if you want to see a true Sandler masterpiece, I don't recommend this film.
8 Mile (2002)
Great Acting and A Great Movie
A lot of recording artists try to take it one step farther by testing their acting skills in a motion picture. Most of these times, either their movie blows or they just plain suck at acting. Eminem is just of a talented actor as he is an extraordinary rapper. I agree with him that anyone who has ever had a dream in their life needs to see this movie. I think this movie deserves an Academy Award nomination because it is a movie that makes you feel like a different person while walking out of the theater but also reveals the truth. I think this movie was filled with an excellent cast. It definately deserves a nomination at this years Oscars.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)
Better then the first!
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was a great movie. I never had the chance to read the book but it was a great movie w/ very imaginative scenery and a great cast. The second movie is even better! The same great cast returns and new characters are introduced. It has a better story to it that builds up more suspense. The kids in the movie are great and are really talented actors. The imagination these films have is unbelievable. I love every thing about them, I don't think there is anything I don't like about them! If you thought the first one was an unbelievable film, wait until you see this one!
The Ring (2002)
Not the Scariest Movie Ever...
This movie wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. However, it did have both frightening and disturbing images in it that will stick in your mind. Naomi Watts was great in 'Mulholland Drive' and her performance in this movie was pretty good too. There were also great performances in this movie by a lot of unknowns, who I think will be seen in more movies to come. 'The Ring' might be scary to you however with it's graphic images and disturbing sequences. Any way though, I think it will be considered a classic horror movie.
Tuck Everlasting (2002)
A Great Adaptation From the Classic Novel
I had to read 'Tuck Everlasting' when I was in junior high and I thought it was one of the best books I had ever read and I still do too. The movie was unbelievable! The cast was extraordinary. Out of all the performances in the movie, my favorite was Ben Kingsley. He fitted the image I had in my head of the man in the yellow suite and did a magnificent job. For all the people who have fallen in love with the book, they need to see the movie too. This is one of the few movies adapted from a book that is just as good as the boo itself. Go see the magic in 'Tuck Everlasting'.
Sweet Home Alabama (2002)
A Nice Little Surprise
Though I saw this movie during it's opening weekend, I am just ow getting around to writing this review for it. When I first saw the trailer for this movie I remember thinking to myself, 'Oh no just what the movie biz needs, another chick flick', but I thought this was a great movie. Reese Witherspoon is such a talented actress and charmed all audiences who saw this movie. Though I guess this movie can be categorized as a chick flick, it is better then what you would expect from the previews. Reese Witherspoon does it again with 'Sweet Home Alabama'.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)
A Great Family Comedy!!
This was one of the best comedies I've seen all year! I mean it was absolutely fantastic! It had a great cast and kept you laughing out loud throughout th film! It was a great movie about family cultures and traditions that I think all cultures will fall in love with! 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' is full with laughs and cheers!
The Four Feathers (2002)
A Great Movie of Friendship and War
I love war movies. I thought that 'The Four Feathers' was a great war movie about the true definition of freindship and the lines some people will cross for friendship. Though all the performances in this movie were absolutely fantastic, I thought that Djimon Honsou, who played Abou, Heath Ledger's character trustworthy friend of the Sudan, did an extrordinary job. I was absolutely blown away by his performance. Though I loved every aspect of this movie, there was only one thing that I did not like. The movie seems to go on and on and you start to wonder, "will this thing ever end?" But once the movie ends, you realize that despite this, it is a phenominal motion picture.
Swimfan (2002)
Fatal Attraction for teenagers
Though this movie wasn't the best romantic thriller to come along, it was very similiar to the classic 'Fatal Attraction'. Jesse Bradford plays the perfect guy who's life couldn't be better until his one mistake, an affair with Erika Christenson's psychotic character, Madison, destroys his once perfect life. This movie though did hint you and gave you clues before a surprising moment popped up. This did take away the suspense of the film. But it wasn't that bad of a movie though. If you were a fan of the film 'Fatal Attraction', you might want to take this one into consideration.
S1m0ne (2002)
Crazy Movie...Good Performances
Though I can't say that this was one of my favorite films of the year, I can say that the cast was incredible. Al Pacino's character in this movie is hysterical and there are other great performances from Catherine Keener, Jason Shwartzman, Jay Mohr, Winona Ryder, and of course Rachel Roberts. However, the ending of this movie is totally weird and doesn't make a good ending. I don't want to give away any spoilers, so you'll have to go see it for yourself.
Blue Crush (2002)
Not Your Average Teenage Girl Movie
This movie is very different from your average teenage girl movie. Well first off it's more about surfing than anything else in the movie. I mean sure these girls struggle and overcome in the movie but it mainly deals about how they live for surfing. It's a great movie with great surfing stunts and a great cast. Blue Crush is a great summer movie!
xXx (2002)
Move Over James Bond...Hello XXX!!
XXX is the new James Bond! This was the most action packed movie of the summer! Vin Diesel is the man! A great new spy movie that I'm sure will be seen again in sequels in the future! More intense action than the 'Fast and the Furious'! XXX is a true winner!
Eight Legged Freaks (2002)
A very fake movie!
This movie reminded me of one of those 1930/1940 horror films were the monster or evil creature of the movie appeared to be so fake! I did thought think this movie was better than the trailers made it look, but the visual effect were so terrible that they made Godzilla from 'Godzilla 2000' look like a real creature! If you want to be entertained by a movie, stay away from this one!
Signs (2002)
M. Night Shamylan's Best Picture Yet!!
I would have to say this has been the best movie I have seen all summer! I mean it really is scary and I am not one who usually get scared at a terror movie like this one. The best parts of this movie were the several shocking moments and the humorous parts of the movie done by Joaquin Phenox, who kept me cracking up throughout the movie! I'm telling you, this movie will not disappoint you!!
Road to Perdition (2002)
'The Godfather' of It's Generation
I found this movie to be so much like 'The Godfather', one of the best pictures ever created. It was your classic crime/family drama picture. I'm sure this movie will have a big role at this year's Academy Awards. What I especially enjoyed about this movie was how Micheal Sullivan and his son were able to become so close throughout their journey and the hardships that they faced. 'Road to Perdition' is an Oscar worthy film.
Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002)
More Laughs Than The Other Two Combined!
Any person who sees this movie and does not laugh must be seriously considered non human! If you thought the first two Austin Powers film were hilarious and sick, you would not believe this one! This is the hardest I have ever laughed at a movie since Austin Powers 2: The Spy Who Shagged Me. Great new jokes and humor, hilarious original and new characters, and great new parodies! Austin Powers in Goldmember is very shagadelic baby!
Reign of Fire (2002)
The Summer Movie Action Package
Every summer, a movie comes to theaters that is the action film of the summer. 'Reign of fire' is this summer's movie. It has heart pounding action and edge of your seat entertainment. This movie reveals a terrifying world under the reign of the most frightening creatures one could imagine. 'Reign of Fire' is The action movie of the summer!
Like Mike (2002)
'Rookie of the Year' for Basketball
This movie reminded me exactly of the movie 'Rookie of the Year'. It had the same plot basically: A young kid gets the opportunity of a lifetime to be a sports star at such a young age. This was a great movie though! Lil' Bow Wow did a surprisingly great job! And Jonathan Lipnicki was great too! 'Like Mike' is a great film for all ages! It is both uplifting and funny. You'll really enjoy this movie.
