Adds nothing
12 September 2022
Ragnarok explores the relation between Thor and Loki and Hulk, and introduces memorable characters like Grandmaster, Valkyrie and Hela. What does Love & Thunder add in these categories? Almost nothing!

Using Guns n' Roses songs was enjoyable and follows the same path as Immigrant Song in Ragnarok... so cool but nothing new.

I assume MCU fans enjoy when stand-alone movies adds something to the overall story? Ragnarok adds quite a bit, Love & Thunder adds (almost) nothing.

Christian Bale was really good as Gorr, but the introduction felt really silly and the end as well. The effects associated with Gorr reminded me of the effects in the 1990 movie Ghost.

The silly parts in the movie are good, but I lack any depth for this to balance with.

Utterly garbage

I fail to find one single believable character or scene for that matter. Good actors portraying characters without any depth makes this one of the worst movies I've witnessed in many years.

2½ hours of disappointment
26 October 2021
I had high hopes but none were met. The CGI team put all their energy on large machinery. The photo team demanded way to many slow-motion scenes. The editing team focused on the takes were the actors didn't speak. The music team focused one one(?) single crescendo bass line. The writers (or editors) gave us a storyline which could have been told in ten minutes.

So what did we get? We got a movie shot in dark plain surroundings, good actors with no room to act and no reasonable dialogue to master. Add a lot of illogical flying machinery maneuvering in slow-motion to make them look bigger, or the most stupid substitute to a helicopter I've ever seen; and a plot that almost never make sense. Picture all this in a movie where the soundtrack consist of eight beats constantly repeating in an endless chase of emphasizing a crescendo that never came.

To thin

What you see is indeed good but for a higher rating I would want more depth and explanations. A spoken conversation with a psychologist could easily have added the depth I wanted. As of now I feel I didn't understand any of the four five relevant characters in the movie.

6=strong five or strong six depending of your knowledge

If you never read any of the comics with Venom and therefor don't now the connection to Spiderman or Brock's real background story this movie is despite sin huge logical flaws.

If you've read the comics you'll be a little disappointed.

What? Why? How? Who?
26 December 2017
This movie has many of the right ingredients to make a great movie: to have fantasy characters live in today's world is from my point of view wonderful, it has so many advantages. The action and effects are top-notch, no complaints about the actors, and the one liners are surprisingly good... but it's not enough.

Not one single character have depth, there's no character development whatsoever and there's at least ten characters I would love to know more about.

Since I know "nothing" of the characters I don't understand their motives and sometimes very strange behavior, I'm not even sure which ones that are the bad guys.

The ingredients could make a great tv show or mini series (perhaps 5 one hour episodes) but instead falls flat. If they would have added 20 minutes of (good and believable) explanatory flashbacks I might have given it a 9 instead of a 5.

Lacks logic, believable characters, a good plot and a good twist
7 December 2017
Nothing wrong with the actors performance, really nice to see a middle age woman starring as an action hero (gains 1 king for this); lights, sound and soundtrack are good as well. The storytelling scenario (switching between two scenes is good too.

So what's wrong? Well everything else. The characters are flat, no depth at all, villains are stupid and behave stupid without s reason. The action is somewhat cool but not believable. The story has numerous logical errors. There's no thread moving the story forward, just a bunch of scenes. The result makes me think someone had an idea for a nice setting with a female action hero but they never hired anyone to write a script.

much action
16 September 2005
Let me start of by saying that the video game Final Fantasy 7 is one of the best experiences I ever had. No book, movie or other video game can compare; so I guess my expectations were pretty high for Advent Children.

Many of the trademarks from the video game have been beautifully incorporated into the movie, but to much focus lie on the action scenes - I miss the journey we experience in the games.

In the Final Fantasy games we travel a long way before we're confronted with the final enemy. These journeys takes you to several cities, villages, forests, mountains, islands; and confront you with different dangers. The movie takes place in one single city where the enemy is presented from the start.

Even though I complain about to much action, and complain about to few settings; I adore everything in the movie, but the movie feels like a teaser - I want more!

a real rip-off
18 April 2003
I love The Pursaders but only gave this "movie" a 3, strange? Not at all.

When I purchased this movie on DVD I was expecting a movie, but it's not. Instead you'll find two separate tv-episodes where the first episode has its end after texts removed, and the second episode has its titles (including the marvelous theme song) removed. Basicly, this is what I call a hoax.

The first episode is even a cheap shot episode, all scenes take place indoors. The second one is a little better and here you'll find the highlight of this "movie", a car chase with Danny Wilde's Ferrari Dino 246GT.

Swedish action that works
25 August 2002
Usually Swedish action movies are worse than an American C-class action. In movies like the two latest Hamilton movies (Vendetta and Hamilton) the action mainly consists of car explosions and gunfights that even the worst of American action would match.

Livvakterna does not fall into this trap, to my delight there isn't one single car explosion. Sure, there are some gunfight but to me they feel real, the characters feels real, the script feels real... basically, it's a very good movie.

Elvis still rocks
5 May 2001
Oh man, what a movie... Costner definitely is back and is stunning as the movie's bad boy with sideburns and everything. Russel performance is excellent as well. The plot is stripped from the morality issues that normally infects a Hollywood movie of this magnitude. The action scenes are brutal and extremely well composed and the weapons used give me goose bumps. Courteney Cox is better looking than ever before, and the comic sidekick is less obnoxious than most other movies. All in all, this is the best action movie I've seen in years.
