The Invitation (2022)
Just avoid this one.
I only gave this 2 stars because of Nathalie Emmanuel. Is she a great actress? No, but she has a hell of a lot of potential. So, is she a good leading actress? No. The movie itself is not good. You're better off watching 'You're Next' or 'Ready Or Not'.
This movie is very cliche and not in a good way. The whole concept is she is supposed to be some bad a$$ who ends up getting revenge and taking them out. But legend has it that we're STILL waiting for that to happen. The ending was rushed.
Just don't waste your time unless you're looking for some background noise while you do other things.
Best.

Should Have Just Streamed It
Okay, so this movie is not one of my favs. At one point it was supposed to just come out on streaming platforms and I think that's what should have happened. It's packed with jump scares and the lead character wasn't convincing enough for me. Both her and her sister - IMO - should have been replaced. Her fiancé, oh my goodness, what a waste of a character. He's BARELY in the movie!!!!
It goes on for some time showing you scenes that DID not happen and then the ending was slow and bad. I think my date fell asleep at one point lol. I will say that while the concept was good, the execution was bad.

Are they superhuman?!??
Okay so I know I'm some instances I have to suspend my belief in order to enjoy a movie, but OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!! Why does Hollywood want me to be plain old stupid?!? Are they superhuman, aliens? What? None of their actions make sense and their inability to die or even suffer an injury. One injury. My goodness. No. Even terminator had scratches.
Watch this movie if you are completely bored and want to be treated like an absolute moron for 2:22:48 mins of your life. You're welcome.
Spencer (2021)
I fell asleep...multiple times
Just do yourself a favor and skip this one. I am writing this as I've woken up for the 3rd time after falling asleep. The story has not depth and I can't even seem to figure out the problem. All you hear is Kristen's deep breathing before she painfully utters her lines to give us this awful British accent. Not worth the money or the time. If you're looking for a movie to play in the background while you sleep...this is it.
Till Death (2021)
Really....what Makeup is she wearing?
It's always hard to take movies like this seriously when the primary concern is making sure the actresses stay pretty with a full face of makeup. Literally, she wakes up with a beat face...anyways.....
In the first act I think Megan forgot she was in a movie and was just being her natural everyday self. The acting was bland, no emotion at all. The second and third act however is why I gave this a 5.... This was a good story actually and her expressions picked up...a bit. But nonetheless very compelling and I liked the characters.
This woman is a survivor! Loved that for her.
It's decent, something you can enjoy with a nice bowl of popcorn and a good friend.

Slow Build, Great Story
So this is a slow build up but I have to say, I was very impressed. I was TUNED in by the 3rd act. At first I was sitting in the chair, completely nonchalant and feeling like it was a waste but boy oh boy did it get good! Originality at its best.
James Wan you're the man!
The Night House (2020)
What did I watch?
Okay so let me get this straight.....your husband kills himself because you escaped death and now it wants to possess your husband into killing you and he thought he could save you by killing him self? Alright, there's a few things to unpack here.... as a viewer we should suspend our belief into thinking that if you escape death then it's only means of taking your life is to possess another human being in doing so? Final Destination anyone? Also, also, the husband was a murderer but because he was trying to trick death into thinking he murdered his wife by actually murdering women who looked exactly like her, we should still continue to see him as a good guy in all of this???? AND lastly, she lives! How? Why! So if death was able to get to her this whole time and she was still strong enough to resist it and not kill herself, then her husband died in vain and she's going to continue to what....live in a haunted house until death finally does kill her? What a terrible story lol. I can't wait to see how they review this one on Single Cinema.
I'm giving it two stars for Rebecca Hall.
Life of Crime (2013)
Black Comedy it is NOT
When I think of black comedies I think of, Burn After Reading, The Whole Nine Yards.... Those movies where stomach hurting funny. THIS, is absolutely doing and dull. I think they had a plan and the execution just did not go well.
A Quiet Place Part II (2020)
WHAT A MOVIE!!!
That is how you do a sequel. This movie was spectacular. I enjoyed it from start to finish and it was not overdone. It literally gives you everything you need without the cheap scares. Complete perfection.
The Handmaid's Tale: The Crossing (2021)
Who needs a bullet proof vest when you can have plot armor like June?
I mean seriously.... the killing of so many innocents and not even so much as a scratch on this women who has BROKEN EVERY SINGLE RULE IN Gilead. She is the very definition of mutiny. This is why Game of Thrones will forever be my favorite - realism. This show is sheltering the main character so much that it's becoming mundane and far too predictable. We get it she won't die but in the first season one of the girls lost an EYE for speaking too much: speaking!! Now we have precious June who literally and I mean literally breaks every single rule and not even so much as a scratch.
The brooding music they played as they walked her down the red tunnels to build so much suspense around her "torture" only to find she's going to watch TWO other women die.... absolutely hysterical and I'm being sarcastic.
*sigh*
