Lewis Capaldi: How I'm Feeling Now (2023)
A national treasure
An insight into the life of Lewis Capaldi, the start of his career, the anticipated launch of his second album. Although the documentary takes a turn upon the discovery of a Lewis's Tourette's which Lewis is completely open about, which is brave and will bring awareness.
It is clearly the usual checkbox documentary that celebrities sign up for in order to market albums, but this is Lewis Capaldi. No facade. As his Dad says 'no heirs and graces'.
I laughed, I cried and I want to love and protect this man at all costs. He is a national treasure and I wish him a long and successful career. The music industry can be toxic, may he have a character strong enough to never change and the support system to know if it's ever time to quit.
Nope (2022)
It's a Nope
This movie is basically Tremors but from the sky...
The type of horror film of a sheltered director who thinks gremlins and starship troopers are frightening, which is surprising considering the successes of Us and Get Out. This is not the genre for Jordan Peele...
This movie had the potential to be quite terrifying but the effort to build tension took too long and fell a little short so misses the mark...
The movie starts off really well but by the end a movie about the chimpanzee would have been better, it's the best part of the movie, very tense...
The acting is good, the script good too but could have been about 40 minutes shorter...
Watch Prey instead.
The Last Kingdom: Episode #1.2 (2015)
Getting good
This show has great reviews and I'm warming to the storyline which leads you at a good pace.
The shaky camera work is off putting though. I was borderline travel sick in some fight scenes.
Dark (2017)
This is what happens when writers love what they do.
The care and detail the writers have put into this series shows, rather than the conveyor belt of tv shows being released these days.
Not a single minute of Dark is wasted, each moment has a purpose.
The continuity and soundtrack are exceptional.
From beginning to end, the script, casting and direction is well thought out. The complicated storyline is confusing to begin but every question is answered (except one, for those who have watched all 3 seasons, you will know what I mean).
Amazing, just amazing. This is the best show I've seen and I think I've pretty much completed Netflix. I really hope this series isn't ruined in the future by a Hollywood remake.
