Clarice: You Can't Rule Me (2021)
Just meh.
It's enough to keep you interested but by episode 5 I'm extremely annoyed. FBI agents are supposed to be some of the brightest of the bright yet the main character AND HER BOSS make stupid decisions. None that you'd expect from a real agent.
The flashbacks and hallucinations water everything down and feel unnecessary but are shown in every episode.
Fate: The Winx Saga (2021)
It Isn't the best but isn't the worst.
I'm not even sure what to think about this....
let me mention that I've never seen the original series and know nothing about it.
I'll start with the good.... the acting is decent and the production quality is great. While this is a teen drama, it isn't unbearable. the supporting cast does a great job. I hope to see more of them in other projects.
PLOT:
The fairies and the "specialist" are at this school to train and learn magic (train for WHAT, we don't really know). The main character is filled with teenage angst and is sent to this school after discovering she's a fairy (she's been raised by human parents her whole life). At the very beginning she finds out her parents aren't her parents which sends her on this journey to figure out who she is and where she comes from. She makes really STUPID, decisions while and is honestly quite annoying. The other characters who are her friends are far more likable than she. The headmistress of the school is very mysterious & seems to have answers about the main character's past but refuses to tell her, which of course makes her want to know even more. Then we're introduced to these "burned people" who are supposed to be very dangerous and difficult to kill. These creatures can kill specialist but have been dead for 16 years until all of a sudden, one shows up out of nowhere in the woods. Eventually, the main character makes a series of poor choices which unleash a really powerful fairy that the head mistress was once mentored by and had been locked away for several years. When she's released, she allows burned ppl to "attack" the school and the the main character uses her super fairy powers to kill SIX MEASLY monsters (I was seriously disappointed and thought there'd be an ARMY of them). After saving the school, she decides she misses her fake parents and wants to go home to visit for the weekend. She takes her new friends with her and tells her fake parents she's a fairy. When they return to school Everything is different. The head mistress has been killed and the fairy that was released is now in charge. THE END,
There were so many plot holes. I often found myself thinking "aren't they supposed to know magic?" Why are there only 3 teachers at this school?" "What is the point of this?"
It all felt cheap at the end.
There are other details that impacted the plot but that's the gist.
Watch if you have nothing else to do and enjoy this genre. Like I said, it isn't the best but it isn't the worst.
Avatar (2009)
Definitely a Must Watch
This story is FAMILIAR. Greedy colonizers STEALING what doesn't belong to them all in the name of greed.
The film itself is amazing. Especially considering it's 11 years old. The CGI is impressive, the actors are all talented. Does the storyline remind you of many other (evil) historical truths - YES. the Na'vi people feel like a collective of indigenous tribes from all over the world. Beautiful in their own right. Nonetheless, the film is creative and beautifully executed. Especially for its time. Excited for part 2!
