Crossing Swords (2020)
Not funny, Didn't Laugh
Did not laugh a single time. This show is trash. The dialog sucks, all the jokes are dumb, and all the comedy relies 100% on the fect that it's crude.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
A finale to the best trilogy of all time
The Return of the King loses absolutely no momentum that that the first two built up. Thr climax is the most tense of the trilogy, and afterwards gently settles you back down into tear jerking ending. By the time you get to this movie, you know the characters well and the endings for the characters are all incredibly satisfying. These movies will never, ever, in a million years get old. Nearly 20 years old at the time of writing this and the film still look and feel incredible, even with the CGI of the time.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
A strong contender for the best of the trilogy
The Two Towers is absolutely phenomenal! It's 100% about the fellowship working towards their goal, without any more set up needed, it starts immediately after the first movie. This film has one of the greatest battles in film history, The Battle for Helm's Deep! All of the choreography, set design, costumes, visual effects, make up, all of it, 10/10.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
The greatest story of all time put to screen
It's Lord of the Rings given the love and care and attention that it deserves. The visuals, the music, the acting, the set design, all 10/10. I will admit that it takes a while for the fellowship to really kick off their journey, but that allows for the set up to really be engraved in your brain.
Vuelven (2017)
A very touching story
This movie is a drama with horror and fantasy elements, not a full horror like it may seem. The horror is done well and can be creepy at times. The fantasy gives the story a sort of heartwarming innocence to escape the real world, and the film uses that to really connect you with the children and empathize for them. The children are great actors, the setting feels real, mostly because it is, and the music does wonders to aid what's on screen. 100% worth a watch.
Day of the Dead (1985)
A good finale to Romero's Dead trilogy
This movie is slower than the previous two, with not as much screentime with zombie hordes. There's a lot of conflict between characters and more focus on that, but the 3rd act is very rewarding. The gore is great, the main antagonist is over the top nuts, and we get to know more about Romero's zombies. Great flick, I think it holds it's own against the first two.
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
A must-watch for horror fans
This is a fantastic low budget flick. It has a zombie premise that everyone knows today, but was almost totally knew when it came out. The whole movie is drenched in old school horror vibes despite being only from 1968. It feels like you're watching a universal monster movie cranked up to 10. This is basically the last old horror film before the modern horror era immediately after this. It's great to see how modern zombies started in this super low budget indie movie.
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
A great follow up to Night of the Living Dead!
This movie is great. The gore is awesome, the premise is interesting, and it's original. The movie starts off almost immediately with high octane energy with some kills, and settles down later on. The movie does get slow before the third act, but it doesn't ruin the movie. Another great zombie flick from Mr. Romero!
The Return of the Living Dead (1985)
Best Horror Comedy Ever!
This movie rocks! It's got nudity, great music, humor, and gore! There's nothing really more to say, just give this a watch if you wanna party!
Murder Party (2007)
A horror comedy that isn't really scary or funny
This movie is very slow. It has a few good jokes, the gore is ok, and the plot is barely there. It just drags on for way too long.
Frankenweenie (2012)
Good, not as fun or enjoyable as the 1984 short
Frankenweenie 2012 is a full length feature film made from a 29 minute short. It feels stretched and has a few plot points that didn't contribute much. It's not as funny as the first, and feels like it's trying too hard sometimes.
Frankenweenie (1984)
A good, funny, heartwarming story
This is a very fun parody/homage to Frankenstein. It's very short and consice, has a charming atmosphere, and looks spooky. The music is great, and the fun, gothic vibe is very enjoyable.
Maniac (1980)
Best Slasher Ever!
Let's be honest, a lot of slashers are pretty overrated and boring. Maniac, however, is pretty interesting and keeps the kills evenly spaced out, and the kills are awesome! There is a slow middle part, but it's not so bad compared to other slashers. The gore is great, and whereas other flicks have stupid unconvincing grunts and screams, Maniac has quite a few genuine, unsettling, gut-wrenching screaming when people are killed. The best part is the killer is the main character, not some boring, faceless, guy in a mask like every other slasher. It's 100% about Frank, not having any typical annoying
teenage characters so prominent in 80's flicks. Definitely give this a watch, and then maybe a few re-watches.
Mad Doctor of Blood Island (1968)
A boring movie..... Thats it.
By looking at the art for the movie, I expected some super shlocky, bloody, gross movie. It's low grade, not very interesting, and not very bloody. The monster doesn't make a lot of appearances, and the characters are auper boring. It really sucks how the poster for the movie is more entertaining than the actual movie.
Brides of Blood (1968)
Good....... If you're from the drive-in era
I was expecting some funny B-Grade shlock but got a snooze fest instead. In between the scenes with the monster, theres nothing to enjoy, no B-Movie humor, just characters giving boring exposition. It drags on for way too long and the "scary" scenes are just too short. Im guessing the only people giving it more than a 3 saw it when it released in drive-ins and only enjoy it for nostalgia.
Bride of Re-Animator (1990)
Just as great, if not better, than the first
For years, The Re-Animator had been my favorite horror flick of all time. I put off watching the sequels because I didn't have any way to watch them, but Bride of Re-Animator was on Amazon Prime video, so I bit the bullet, and I was not dissapointed!
Bride of Re-Animator also has excellent effects, is more over the top, and has comedy that was written well. The main reason I love this movie almost more than the first is because of it's old school, gothic atmosphere. Herbert West's lab is my favorite part of this movie. There are always beakers and science equipment filled with bright colored, bubbling liquids that release fog, brick walls that look menacing, and lighting that gives everything an old school spooky vibe. On top of that, Jeffery Combs cranks Herbert's mad scientist characteristics into full gear! It's like Combs was born to be Herbert West!.
I will admit that the plot is messy, and some plot lines don't lead anywhere, but the good outweighs the bad! Watch this is you like the first one!
Re-Animator (1985)
One of the best horror flicks ever!
This movie is one of my favorites of all time. The effects are awesome, the talking head effects throughout the movie look amazing. The humor is great, and the main star of the show, Jeffery Combs, is amazing as Herbert West. He really sells him as a mad scientist. Definitely give this a watch.
Bad Taste (1987)
Gore is cool, but it's pretty boring
There isn't really even that much gore, and in between it theres some super borng scenes. You don't even see the alien fast food chain, and when the aliens are revealed its not that interesting. This is more like a so-bad-it's-okay movie.
