Virgin River (2019)
Look forward to seeing every year
I was thrilled to see the 4th season was available this week. I've not previewed before. Simply, beautiful scenery, acting is worthy, characters well developed & inspiring messages. Thank you Netflix.
House of Gucci (2021)
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned
I heard such disdain for this film. I gave it a chance today and can't understand all the negative reviews, but seems to be the new norm, so best to make one's own decision. It's interesting, eccentric, flamboyant, acting is awesome all around & keeps one engaged. I found myself researching the characters during pauses. The Gucci family did their share of disfunction. Patrizia was a driver and had great vision, but suffered from blinder's and a sickness. Its a shame. She could've been a Gucci contender, lol.
Halftime (2022)
J. Lo an Iconic Woman. Roar!
The first time I heard of JL was when I watched Selena in 1997 and was incredibly impressed with her many talents. She has continued to blow me away; she's seriously a trifecta. She works so frigging hard. She's an inspiration. Respect. Watching her Doc. Showed me her power and her mighty roar. It's no wonder some are threatened by her. Why? She's a beautiful inspirational powerful talented intelligent honest woman.
Vikings (2013)
This is not what I need
Killing for greed. Messed up. Nope. Not for me. Shut it down after they killed monks to steal their artifacts. BS. It's no wonder peeps are respecting life less these days (Amongst many other reasons). But, this very popular show certainly does not expound love and expectance.
Hit and Run (2021)
Really Enjoyed
The acting was excellent. I loved that it was shot in both Tel Aviv and NYC (Gritty and beautiful). Nice to see actors I have never seen before. Lior Raz (CRUSH), Sanaa Latham, Moran Rosenblatt and Gal Toren shine! I really wanted more of Gal Toren; he's massively diverse (look him up). The cinematography was interesting and I found intense. The camera's POV was either from a drone or from a high rise (scaffolding?); there were many aerial POV's. I honestly wondered if this meant the characters were being spied on elsewhere). They are not. Also, the way the DP lingered on many faces was trickery manipulation because I felt many of the characters could possibly have been involved in the murder. Some were; I found later, which kind of pissed me off. I didn't mind the dark scenes as many have mentioned in their reviews. I absolutely can't wait to see season 2.
The Last Letter from Your Lover (2021)
Expected More
I was excited to watch, especially because I'm a romantic at heart and I value both Shailene and Felicity as actors. I did not read the book, btw. It was just lacking. I can't put my finger on it. I honestly kept thinking while I watched the film that it must have been directed by a male, even though realizing that is a sexist thought, but that was not the case after I researched the film more. I am hoping someone can articulate better that I can regarding what was missing. I must add, Boot, Callum Turner, was truly awesome and have now added to my favorites. It's worth a watch, but disappointing.
Firefly Lane (2021)
It's Growing on Me
My sister recommended I watch this series. We're usually in-sync. I was a bit critical with episode 1 and wondered what she was thinking. Although, I continued when I couldn't find anything to watch.
Definitely watch through episode 3. I am glad I did. The casting is spot on and I'm liking all the main characters. They each hold their own and they grow on you.
Nice chemistry shines between the two leads. Enjoying their friendship and the strong women characters.
I enjoyed the music as well. A lot of nostalgia for me on many levels. I'm a 60's baby.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the series and now see there is a Season II. Excellent.
Time (2020)
Heartbreaking on Many Levels
I do not see color. I see love, humility, tenacity and forgiveness of a grave mistake this couple made out of desperation; we as a society need to get better with our prison sentences. There has got to be a better formula.
Away (2020)
Just a Really Good Series
I read reviews before I watched and was going to pass, but I really liked the cast. I hit play. I finished all 10 episodes in 2 day. It reminds me of an enjoyable, dare I say, all American classic film. There are cliches and they hit every proper box. There are no back stabbers, murders, Sci-Fi martian types, nor heavily sedated sex scenes. They cuss, so not sure it's for the youngsters, but I would think families would love to watch together as long as the F bomb is tolerated on occasion. With all that is going on in the world and all the stress - it was perfect.
Some of the art direction drove me nuts for a second, but all in all a must watch.
The Vast of Night (2019)
Beautiful Film
I was mesmerized by this film; the cinema-photography, lighting and editing blew me away - Gorgeous! If you are a film buff or student, study this film; you should appreciate all that it has to offer. I have my eye on Andrew Patterson; you've set the bar. Sierra McCormick. as well as Jake Horowitz were tremendous. But, Gail Cronauer, perfection! Thank you.
7500 (2019)
Most Suspenseful Movies I've Seen in a Long Time
Terrorist in any form is frightening, but when there is a plane and innocent lives involved it's a trifecta of pure fear. The writing, acting, directing and POV of basically filming the cockpit was brilliant.
May I suggest a PART II and only have POV of the passengers and crew? It would be an interesting and thought provoking sequel.
The Unicorn (2019)
I'll Continue to Watch
I typically don't watch a lot of TV Sitcoms, but this came up and caught my eye. I've always appreciated the lead actor, Walton Goggins. Happy to see he's awesome at comedy as well as playing crazy mofoes. The youngest daughter is impressive too. I was disappointed when it ended.
A Little Late with Lilly Singh (2019)
I was so hoping
I cont.to give the show a chance and it's a no go. I'm a late nighter and have watch Carson for years, mostly as backdrop while I work or futz.
I'm embarrassed for Lilly although she is super cute and would be a fun friend, but not talented enough to keep the talk show afloat. I sure hope to see her again where she finds her niche. This is def not her calling.
Mike E. Winfield: Stepman (2019)
Comedic Chameleon Genius
I had never heard of Mr. Winfield before, but it came up on AP. I've been binging on a heavy show for days, and was getting ready to dive in, but thought best, to at first, check out his special, Stepman. It was a great choice! He's hilarious and his set of 58 min. went by quickly. Mike Winfield had many facial expressions & was transformative and magically mesmerizing. I can't wait to see what else he does.
Prosecuting Evil (2018)
My Hero
We need so many more leaders like Benjamin. It's a different side of perspective history that we don't hear about often; so much of what is heard pertains to present day. Listen. We, as a people, need more clarified examples of clear and sound morals and ethics that Ben spoke.
Always Be My Maybe (2019)
Joyful Writing
Loved. I needed a light hearted fun colorful film. The chemistry and writing were exceptional. Would love to see more of these two play side by side. Duo to keep watching... Other great characters too. Mr Reeves was hilarious.
Chef's Table: Cristina Martinez (2018)
Cristina Martinez Exudes Passion, Love , Honesty and Family
I find Chef's Table inspiring, emotional and ravenous. Each is woven with tradition, hard work and love. Cristina's story is beautiful.
L'amica geniale (2018)
Everything about My Brilliant Friend is PERFECTION
The cinematography is gorgeous. A brilliant piece of work.
Skin (1995)
Mesmerizing
I've not seen this short in many years, but it has always stayed with me. It's uncomfortable, but poignant. At that time, I knew Ewen's work, but SKIN ranked him as one of the best for me. So happy to see his career matches his talents.
I would love to see a full 2 hour film from this short. Everything about this short is classic, human and tragic and yet goes to a place beyond comprehension. The writer and direction is spot on... LOVED and highly recommend watching if you can get your hands on it...
I just watched it again. It's a whopper and for a short to have such impact and power; still... mesmerizing.
