Good Movie show family ties
18 February 2007
Would give this movie a max rating as it is great on a number of levels. The main level is family relationships and how important they are and the cross feeling generated by each character in the family. One point, however, Dermot Mulroney's character was almost superfluous to this movie, I know it shows the Dilemma Diane Lanes Character must go through.

Christopher Plummer gives great rendition of the loving father and his need for companionship amongst other things and Stockard Channing, is at least alive (as distinct from the The Three Wives Club) and is a good mentor to Diane Lane.

Finally, the couple don't spend enough time together, Myabe that's the twist. Very Enjoyable, watched 3 times within 24 hours

Literary Investigation
4 January 2007
This movie shows the need for a full and unbiased start to any investigation especially in the literary world, where nuances can become an everyday problem. Like "Who Did, Who didn't, Did they" etc etc. The argument between Shakespeare and Bacon is apparent here, as Maude and Roland search for clues physical and literary. The ending is obvious as some one had to be related to the subject, we can forgive a little obviousness. Well acted and well played. The movement of the film between 1859 and the present day was well crafted, the players responded brilliantly. The problem with true love is evident in the unfettered relationships between the women and the man and woman, which was real? Let us be the judge or can we!

Family

The concept of the movie is great. Kate (as Andie) however overplayed the Kiddie Role to brown "Benjamin" off. Yhis was the weakest moment. I couldn't imagine Katherine Hepburn being childish like this.

Benjamin's family added reality to the fabric of the film, they personified real family and their interaction.

The diamond frosting was a beautiful way to express beauty and the reluctance of Benjamin's female workmates to accept, drove the movie on its path. Andie's workmates were a little trying and "crying". Is this what young love is all about.

Take me back to the good old days when Men were Men and Ladies were young ladies.

In all I enjoyed the movie and have watched it 7 times. I see Kate smokes what a bore!

The Truth
8 November 2006
A simple comment would be there is great truth in this movie and its impact is being felt some 8 years later.

The fear that terrorists bring to the streets around the world today is depicted with sincerity in this movie and how easy people can be deceived by the not very obvious.

I am sure that this movie has given great significance to Security concerns around the world.

Denzel Washington, Annette Bening, and Frank Shaloub contrasted well in their roles.

Well Done

Movie Overall
6 November 2006
This movie depicts the certitude that people can have with grit and a willingness to live a life regardless of mishaps ans failures along the way.

Tom Smith, played by Chris Cooper, shows a complete understanding of animals and the way they will relate to a human. Chris Cooper played this part to perfection.

Toby McGuire, as Red Pollard, gave an outstanding performance as the kid who was given away by his parents and through resolve achieved his main ambition to be loved and welcome.

Jeff Bridges gave a good indication of a caring human being regardless of his wealth, his action and interaction with the other actors and actresses was first class.

All the actors, horses etc gave of their best in this Movie.

Congratulations to all.

Keys of the Kingdom

This movie would have to be the greatest movie ever made. The sheer brilliance of Gregory Peck in the manner he displays as a Missionary Catholic Priest is just mind boggling, the support from the Nuns is just spot on. Real People in a Real world. Relationships are formed congenially and with love and affection of the right kind. To see it in black and white makes the movie real. The melodrama that Thomas Mitchell and Sir Cedric Hardwicke gives to movies provides the right tone to their scenes Gregory Peck show his capabilities and indicates his greatness in other movies such as Gentleman's Agreement and To Kill a Mockingbird (his greatest performance ever). The ability to communicate with non-English speaking Chinese is depicted calmly and sensitively . Finally the wonderful Edmund Gwen as the Seminary mentor shows the characteristic of a keen thinking priest when he refers to "ecclesastical mechanics", those bureaucrats who are inflexible and forget the ordinary People of God. I am sure God will bless all who watch this move with good heart

I just wish I could get a copy of it somewhere.
