Good riddance!
27 February 2024
Can we PLEEEAASE have a medical drama where doctors do exactly what they are told to do?? I am glad that Halstead and Manning are gone, and have taken their rules-be-damned, cowboy (or -girl) mentality with them.

How many times do we have to watch any given medical "professional" try to impose their personal agenda, skirt the rules, stomp on protocol and give Sharon Goodwin no shortage of headaches? I worked for two years in a medium-sized ER department and never saw any of this ridiculousness ever occur. But I suppose without this selfishness there would be no drama in this drama. Am I right?

Murder, She Wrote: Wearing of the Green (1988)

All That Glitters is NOT Gold.

Anything that can be exaggerated and stereotyped found a place of honor on any given episode of Murder She Wrote. "Wearing of the Green" was no exception. Lucie Arnaz and Patty McCormack should be embarrassed with their awful performances in this episode. Not that the writers of this series are strangers to stereotypes or hackneyed tropes. The rest of the cast are talented and accomplished... just not here.

Michael Constantine and Erin Gray are capable actors and have proven that fact throughout their careers... just not here.

Jean Peters was a respectable actress, with a number of fine roles to her credit... just not here.

MSW is a sometimes enjoyable series... just not here.

Murder Most Foul

Quite possibly the worst episode of the entire series! If this episode was intended as an homage to southern gentility and Tennessee Williams himself, it failed miserably. If, however, it was intended to blatantly beat those stereotypes (not to mention horrendous Southern accents) to a well-deserved grave, then, land sakes alive, it has succeeded! Thank God, Tennessee Williams died before he had the "opportunity" to see this. Mind you, aside from a handful of episodes that have proved entertaining, the writers have never met a stereotype that they did not delight in murdering themselves.

Pardon me, while I rest on my verandah and sip away at my mint julep.

Sheldon Cooper is a jack***!
23 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I watched and thoroughly enjoyed The Big Bang Theory during its initial run. As years of reruns have wore on, I began to realize that all of the characters are unredeemably immature, selfish and cruel. Sheldon most of all. He had flashes of compassion: when Howard's mother passed and in his acceptance speech for his Nobel Prize. The remainder of the series showcases Sheldon as completely and totally unlikeable.

The promos are cringe-worthy enough, but the one episode I did manage to partially watch was 15 minutes of my life wasted. I would rather be zip-tied to a chair and forced to listen to a room full of novice bagpipe students.

Murder, She Wrote: Showdown in Saskatchewan (1988)

Murder She Stereotyped.
16 November 2021
Anytime they take the story out of Cabot Cove, the hackneyed and ridiculous stereotypes pop up quicker than the murdered corpse. Showdown in Saskatchewan is no exception. Throw a Stetson on any cowboy and they all become drawlin', brawlin' and drinkin' good ol' boys. RCMP officers do NOT wear the famous red tunic, etc. While on duty. That uniform is ceremonial. At least they got the Canadian flag right.
