Making a Murderer (2015)
waste of time, watch Convicting a murderer instead
Embarrassing high number of 10 ratings for a show produced on lies and deception from the makers. We all knew at the time that the cliff hangers were never answered but thanks to Candace Owens: Convicting A Murderer the truth is being exposed. The truth will find you out. Netflix should be ashamed, not only that but Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos should never be allowed to work again. Do yourself a favor and use this series as an example of how media can be used, edited and manipulated to sway almost any story the way the story teller wants. I'm just sick about how we live in a society that blatant lies are promoted as the truth with little to no consequences.
Wake up people.
The Sinner (2017)
1&2 YES 3 - Hard Pass
What happened? And don't blame covid. Spoiler alert: Harry is still the best and apparently still has old man strength. Season 3 had so much potential but apparently wanted to delve into the inner demons of the average middle age crisis. Who goes golfing during winter? Come on writers, please tell me it's a metaphor or something.
Primer (2004)
How many times have I watched this movie?
I may never know. Do not expect to enjoy this film the first time you view it. Made with a modest budget of $7000 that gives it a realistic down to earth feel. The low budget also hurts the production value but the unique time travel theory is what makes it refreshing and plausible. Although not easy to comprehend and nothing will make sense initially but hang in there and let it soak in a couple times. It reminds me of viewing Momento the first time because of its complicated simplicity.
Midsommar (2019)
Like nothing I've ever seen but so glad I did. (Hater reviews should be embarrassed)
Not every movie should be form fitting to make us feel warm and fuzzy. As a piece of art this movie stand's alone. Midsommar is definitely in it's own genre but very much reminds me of the random obscurity in popular Grind-house films, a dab of emotional symbolism in Pans Labyrinth and a pinch of Silence of the lambs. All combined for a recipe not for the week of heart or stomach.
I could get picky and dump on it for the frequent drug use but that is very much a part of the youth culture these days (Not acceptable but done very realistically) I had a hard time getting over Cheedy from the good place but perhaps not everyone knows who he is or that great show he is from.
You know the sign of a great movie? Everyone talks about it whether they liked it or not and this film delivers on that.
Not for children
Basketball or Nothing (2019)
Raw look at life on the reservation
Definitely worth watching. A genuine look at life on the reservation. I do wish there was more footage behind the scenes of basketball. Go Wildcats
What the Health (2017)
While my jaw was on the floor... I shoved a big salad in it.
Never before have I paused a movie to make a salad. Very eye opening information. Thank you for this. No more googling symptoms for this guy just plant based recipes.
Far from the Tree (2017)
How is this not a 10?
The same people that rate the Grand Canyon a 4 is why these beautiful stories are judged as anything but. Should be a mandatory watch in middle and high school.
Thunder Road (2016)
Wonderful
Unpredictable, Genuine and unique. A very simple film that just pulled me in further and further until I was hooked to see what would happen next.
Holmes & Watson (2018)
This movie is a 10.....
Out of a 100. I didn't get my money back so I snuck into a silent film to clear my mind.
Smallfoot (2018)
Right up there with Trolls
Very Entertaining and Rewatchable, very creative story and witty humor. I got a late fee because I wanted to watch it again.
Bird Box (2018)
Watch this movie blindfolded
How did this happen? Here's a fun drinking game while being forced to view this film. Drink a lot and forget to watch it. Anyone that rates this above one star probably rated The Happening a 10.
Awful Nice (2013)
Simply a great movie about best friends or brothers
A really funny movie that will remind you of someone you grew up with or a dumb brother.
Black Mirror (2011)
The Twilight Zone of today
I was recommended an episode by my 14 year old son and I am hooked. It reminded me of a twilight zone episode and now he's hooked. How have I scrolled past this the last 6-7 years??? (Twilight Zone music plays in the background)
Absentia (2017)
Yes, more please
Would be easy to get picky and call out a few flaws but the great storyline and writing far out weigh the negatives. Can't wait to see what they can do with a larger budget. So much potential, I love it.
Flaked (2016)
Love at first episode - Binge Time
Intelligent, well written, great story line. Could ramble on but I instantly want to be transported into this beautiful mess of life. I expected it to be similar to Arrested Development but it definitely is it's own show. Great acting and dark comedic delivery makes this worth giving it a shot.
Sherlock Gnomes (2018)
Save yourself the trouble and just watch Trolls again.
I try to find something positive in anything I watch but now I'm just ready to fall asleep. There are some cool graphics in Sherlock's day dreams but otherwise this is a waste of time and had to shut it off 30 minutes into it.
Ready Player One (2018)
Imperfect perfection
The master of playing the heartstrings of nostalgia does it again. I wanted to immediately watch it again after 10 minutes in. Can't wait to own the Blu-ray but is a must watch on the big screen. I could pick it apart and fill in a few holes in the storyline but would rather enjoy the time traveling escape I just experienced. I can see this as a movie that people would dress up as their favorite video game characters to attend. My only regret is not doing the D-Box seats, perhaps next time! I could see where this could be hard to follow for inexperienced gamers but it touches so many genres and generations that it shouldn't stop anyone from finding joy as they watch. This movie is a energetic masterpiece that sparks the imagination.
Buried (2010)
I'd rather spend 90 minutes in a coffin than have watched it!
Absolutely worthless! No wonder it's free on prime but I still feel ripped off. I can usually overlook some plot mistakes but come on! How the hell did a snake that big get in his pants??? No pun intended but a pun or bad trouser pant joke would have helped this movie along. This is the first time IMDb has failed me relying on a 7 overall. It's not that I don't like obscure films either but I'd take Lawrence of Arabia and 4 hours of sand than 90 minutes of this......or even eraserhead back to back. Amazon prime should offer a refund to anyone who watched this or at least a phone call from Ryan Reynolds from the blackberry he used because obviously it still has battery left.
