The Devil's Rejects (2005)
Waste of time
''House of 1000 Corpses'' was excellent horror flick, but ''Devil's Rejects'' totally ruined the aura of first movie. This ''sequel'' is nothing more than some bad mixture of ''Doom Generation'' and ''Natural Born Killers''. Story is shallow, characters from first movie have totally loosed their charisma and identity, and turned to be more bare psychopaths than grim, twisted but humorous maniacs from ''House of 1000 Corpses''. Comparing to the first movie, violence we have here is more brutal and raw, but with such approach Rob Zombie didn't achieved anything interesting. Many scenes are pointless, and some are without any cause too long. End of the movie is more than stupid, but let people judge that by their own. Anyway, ''Devil's Rejects'' fails to be good movie. Only good thing about this movie may be that it showing the real mediocrity of People from the suburban of America's south, and their mentality, pointed on that only weapons solving all problems. All everything other about this movie sucks. Signing this as sequel for excellent ''House of 1000 Corpses'' is nothing more than rip off of the fans, who sucked on the first movie.
The Last House on the Left (1972)
Scary?NO. Silly? YES!
''The Last House on the Left'' was one of those movie that embarked on the screens after fuss in Vietnam, in time when American were still in some sort of trauma after the war, so, this movie can be considered as something disturbing and let's say obscene for that time, but generally, this movie is just another of USA's mediocre thrillers from '70's. This is not a horror, there aren't vampires, zombies, what we have here is a bunch of junkies, two dull girl, two stupid cops and too much ''clever and smart'' wife and husband, actually father and mother of one of the dull girls.
Scenes of horror, have morbid atmosphere, but nothing more, there aren't any scary or too much perverted scenes as some people would say, there is nothing to be afraid of, really. The guys which plays those of the Krug's gang are silly, dull and hilarious.
David A. Hess, who plays the leader of the gang have so much warm and kind face, that even when he slaughter's his victim, he look positive. Taking him for the leading role of the leading gang member is a miss big time.
Character of Weasel, played by Fred J. Lincoln is also the dumb selection for that role. His look is so inconclusive and lazy, that there's no any spot in which you can find this character psychotic and mean as movie wants to show him.
Again, there is Marc Sheffler who plays Junior Stillo, son of Krug Stillo. His character may be the funniest of all. With his dull and idiotic lines who looks like he was jumped up from some Woodie Allen movies.Gee.
Okay, enough with characters, let's say something about the movie. Even that this movie contains violence and some little amount of gore, there are lots of cheap comedy elements, cartoon like situations, and silly songs played in the background of the scenes. Acting is poor, but pertinent for such low-budget movie like this. On the other side, this is the first Wes Craven's movie, so all of this goofs and mistakes don't take too much serious.
The Lord of the Rings (1978)
Bakshi's Vision of Tolkien's Masterpiece
This movie is surely for selected audience, with no doubts. Tolkien freaks were surely disappointed with Bakshi's realization of the book, but weren't they with Jackson's version also? There's always those whom you can't please, but who cares anyway. Bakshi has made his own vision of the Tolkien's world, with characters of his own. Aragorn-as native American, some kind of trapper, you can say. Boromir is a Viking, as Gimly also, who's been designed in similar way. Bakshi's Hobbits have much more emotions and charm, of Tolkien's folk of Hobbit's than the actors from Jackson's movie. Legolas, also, is one fine Elf, enough said. Movie it's self, have nice parts and holes also. Nice parts goes for untypical dark and smooth atmosphere, well used fight scenes, grim landscapes, dirty and horrid Orcs (which looks and acting suits movie very well) and very cool and mystic characters. Although, soundtrack for this movie is fantastic, one of the best soundtrack scores ever. Bad parts are those that movie lacks from exceptions of some very important scenes, and some jump overs in storyline. Balrog design is very bad in parts. It seems to much unfinished in some scenes. Also, Battle at Helms Deep looks much empty, even if used Rotoscopy was well done, attack on castle and face-to-face fights are very low and muffed. Friendship between Legolas and Gimly is also in question, thus they didn't make any of close connections during the movie, like they did in book. Exception of Tom Bombadill, is reasonable, 'cause it would take much time of the movie for nothing. All in all, movie is fine one to be watched and it's one of Bakshi's true gems, with his personal seal in audio and video form. Movie lacks from some mistakes, but it's surely work of art for his time, thus no one has ever treated rotoscopy technics like Bakshi did. Big disappointment is that second part hasn't been finished, because of production house scams, but as Ralph Bakshi stated once, there's always a chance for second part to be maid, but when?
Citulja za Eskobara (2008)
Easy to be Forgotten
When you see the name of Zeljko Mitorvic as producer of the film, you can start yourself asking is this movie worth watching. Anyway, besides that fact that brings nothing good, movie itself have couple of good and funny moments, but if you watched ''Mi Nismo Andjeli'', ''Rane'', ''Dve Palme za Bitange i Ribicu'', you will catch all of the ''seen-before'' gags. Storyline is mainly shallow and holes in the story are to much visible, and goal of the film is unfinished and messy. Acting tough, is good, even if Vojin Cetkovic isn't good choice for mob boss, as his character gain more village boy profile than notorious killer and mobster, what you wouldn't say for Marko Zivic as he acts very effective. Considering camera shooting, effects and design, movie can pass, but when you put it all together it's obvious that this is the movie for home-video market, not for theaters and such. Funny for moments, but easy to be forgotten.
Meet the Spartans (2008)
The Greatest Stupidity Of All Times
Well, I rate this film with 2 because of it's maximum dullness that any film before this one never had. In this movie you can see parody toward the ''Shrek'', ''Borat'', ''Texas Chainsaw Massacre'', and of course, toward the movie ''300''. Carmen Electra acting is similar to those amateur actresses of porn movies, and acting of the rest of the cast is drowned in homosexuality and totally lack of mimic and quality. Humour in this movie is equal to the smile of the mule. Except the good thing that this piece of s''t lasts about 65min. everything other is horrible and boring to death. There's no one guff in this movie that is funny, except King Leonidas repeating replica toward the Persian: ''Their wast numbers will count as s**t''. If you're a fan of the ''300'', please don't watch this crap, better spend your time and money on something constructional and useful, like dating a girlfriend or take the dog for a walk, it's spring!
