Monster (2022)
Couldn't have been better
This series has to be one of the best Drame-series I've ever seen. The highlight of the series is the performances of the actors. Every actors has lit up the series with their display. Jeffrey Dahmer is played by Evan Peters and he is outstanding. He gives that serial killer vibe.
Series makes you indulge in itself. Jeffrey Dahmer's story revolves around how he turned into a serial killer. The timeline changes between each scene due to the non-chronological presentation of the story. I like this way of representing a story. We see the event first and then it unfolds itself about how it happened.
Background score is amazing. Specially those whale sounds in the end of every episode.
If you are curious about Dahmer, the serial killer, this will fulfill your thirst. Without a doubt, a must watch series.
The Creator (2023)
Visually appealing but lacked depth
The Creator is about future war between AI and humans. AI machines operate similarly to humans, displaying emotions, belief in religions, and even disposing(funeral) of dead individuals. They live in the same way we do.
I find this movie to be visually stunning. The effects and scenes are just WOW. The AI machines displayed beautifully. It's amazing how they managed to create such visually appealing shots with a budget of just 80 million.
John David Washington does a good job in his role. The child and his relationship shown beautifully.
I'm not sure what the story was trying to convince. The entire movie lacks depth and connection. Story was disappointing. This movie has the potential to be a massive-hit at the box office if the storyline was better.
Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
Action Packed
I haven't seen any previous instalments in Mission Impossible franchise. This is the first film I have watched from this franchise. Both sentences means the same things :). So my review is based on that.
Without a doubt this movie is action packed, be it the fight scenes or chasing scenes in car or chasing the train on the bike and of-course the jumping off of the cliff stunt was the highlight.
Tom Cruise continues to deliver top-notch performances even in his 60s. His acting and stunt-making are still the same. Excellent!
The story is straightforward, it takes place in three to four locations at most. Desert (Saudi Arabia), Venice, Pub and Train.
The movie received a beating from Oppenheimer and Barbie, which is why its box office collection decreased. I remember watching Oppenheimer and seeing posters for Mission Impossible in theaters. I wish I had seen MI in the cinema halls at that time. Would have been quite a cinematic experience.
The coincidence is that I saw Shaun of the Dead today, in which Simon Pegg is in the lead role, and he is also in this movie as Benji.
I have had a great time watching this movie.
Shaun of the Dead (2004)
Not Good, Not Bad Either in 2023
Based on my experience watching this film in 2023, my review is based on that time. I have watched some of the highly rated zombie-based series like, The Walking Dead and The Last of Us and many other zombie movies. This is definitely not like that. Shaun of the Dead is a comic take on zombies which I think, was quite entertaining at that time (2004). The chemistry between Shaun and Ed, the lead character, was something I enjoyed. They are quite hilarious. Comedy is good, but it's not something you'll laugh out loud at. There are occasional chuckles, that's all.
When compared to other zombie movies and series, zombies in this movie are effectively harmless. I had some enjoyment out of it. If you're bored, you can watch it.
Bird Box (2018)
Survival Mode ON in post-apocalyptic world
The movie is about a world that has become post-apocalyptic. A resemblance to 'A Quiet Place.' In this movie, upon seeing the creature/monster, people become suicidal.
The fact that they didn't reveal the creature's physical appearance and left it to the viewers to imagine is something I love. Imagining a creature is something that can be done by anyone, and it's unique for everyone.
But I wish they would have shown a little bit of a backstory(how did they arrive?) of the monster as we get to see in A Quiet Place (UFOs full of creature population land on earth).
The movie is characterized by a tense atmosphere, which I find enjoyable. Additionally, there are only a few scenes that stand out from the entirety of the movie. Like, Mom have to chose one of the children to look at the monster and she choses the girl which is not her blood and tries to save boy (who is her own). Despite being affected by the creature, Tom kills the madman in another scene. These two scenes are particularly memorable to me.
This type of movie is something I enjoy. It's something you can watch too.
John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)
Action is mind blowing
John Wick Chapter 4 comes with even more minutes-long action packed scenes.
The action sequences are innovative and pleasing to the eyes. The music complements the action scenes and gets you involved in the film.
More than eighty percent of the movie is just eye-pleasing fight scenes that we have never seen anywhere in any movie before.
The director Chad Stahelski has done a great job directing this movie, and of course Keanu Reeves delivers perfect action shots.
Bill Skarsgård (the clown from the IT movie) also did good acting in this movie. Shamier Anderson and his dog in the movie are another add-on to the story to watch.
A feast for action movie lovers.
In the end, this is a movie you can't miss.
Vikram Vedha (2022)
Entertainment guaranteed!
A good Bollywood movie after so long. Though it is a remake of a Tamil film of the same name, it is indeed a mass entertainer.
Hritik Rohan and Saif Ali Khan have delivered strong performances. For the first 10 to 15 minutes, I thought 'what is going on in the movie?' but the movie takes a grip just after that.
With a very engaging storyline, strong acting by the lead actors, and top-notch direction, this is a very good movie.
I haven't seen the original one, so I think I'm not well qualified to compare the original one to this one. Still, I can guarantee you that if you haven't seen the original one, you will enjoy this one very much.
Brahmastra Part One: Shiva (2022)
Expectations wasted successfully
I went to watch the movie with a lot of expectations. But this movie was a serious waste of time. I felt somewhat good until the interval, but after the interval it was all disaster. There is no storyline in the movie. The characters didn't get enough development. The chemistry between Ranbeer and Alia was good, but they did it too much, which kind of sucks. The graphics were good, as a large part of the money goes only for the graphics.
SRK's part and Arijit's songs are good. I must say, some of the scenes were a treat to watch. That is the only relief in the movie.
This film should be avoided at all costs.
Malignant (2021)
Go watch!!
If you are a horror fan then go watch it. Don't watch trailer or read reviews on the internet just go and watch the movie. James Wan, how on earth did you get ideas like this? The background music and the camerawork are very good. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I had a good horror time.
Ludo (2020)
A good bollywood movie after so long.
Storyline is very interesting and amazing. Fresh movie. Must watch. A good bollywood movie after so long. I enjoyed it.
Kimi no na wa. (2016)
Beautiful!!
Heart warming...Soul touching...One of the greatest movies I've ever seen. It is the most beautiful cinema experience you will ever have. A must watch.
Finding Dory (2016)
Great sequel
Oh man, I love the character of Dory. Pixar never get bored to amuse us with their amazing animation. Good story stuffed with humour. A nice watch.
Finding Nemo (2003)
Engaging and Emotional
Disney Pixar has created another classic animated movie. Finding Nemo will drive you through emotional rollercoaster. Characters are loving and animation is great.
Haraamkhor (2015)
One of a kind
I liked Shweta Tripathi's role in the movie Masaan, that is what brought me to this movie.
Haraamkhor is not a mass media masaala film. It lacks the screenplay but do good job in locations and filming. Nawaz is made for such roles. Shweta does a good job. But the film lacks its heart somewhere.
Incredibles 2 (2018)
Entertaining
A good follow up of the first movie. It has a busy storyline and full of action. A nice watch with the family.
The Incredibles (2004)
A perfect family movie
The Incredibles is one of the best animated family movie. It has a very interesting plot and loving characters. Disney Pixar has done once again what they are known for- amazing animation. Overall this movie is very entertaining to watch.
Masaan (2015)
This is called the art of filmmaking!!
This film is a piece of art. It's story, acting, locations, direction and camerawork, everything is excellent. This film engages you from the very start and never looses the grip. A gem!
The Queen's Gambit (2020)
Outstanding!!
The Queen's Gambit is a totally new kind of series. The lead actresses Anya Taylor-Joy nailed her role with absolute perfection. Great storyline with great direction. It gave me the kind of experience that you would expect from a series.
WALL·E (2008)
Wonderful piece of animated film-making
Disney Pixar has achieved a very big feat by putting live in robots through their animation and characterisation. Wall E movie gives message through its story. Characterisation is done very beautifully. There is very less role of humans in the movie because main lead roles are robots.
I think this movie is a little overrated. I would still rate movie like Up, Coco and Ratatouille higher than Wall E.
Annabelle Comes Home (2019)
Good acting, Good camera work, Lack of story
Annabelle Comes Home has quality of acting from the cast also good camera work...But it lacks at the story department.
This movie doesn't have a good story they just made this movie for fun. Horror scenes are also good. One time watchable.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
Enjoyed it!
The Warren couple are out on another adventure. Story is good but there are less number of actual horror scenes. Still, worth watching!!
Crazy, Stupid, Love. (2011)
A funny romantic comedy movie
Crazy Stupid Love is new age romance comedy movie. It will definitely entertain you.
Hush (2016)
Terrifying
A deaf writer lives a solitary life in the woods. One day a killer arrives at her house and she fights for her survival. Since she cannot hear, the situation becomes worse for her.
This movie is terrifying. It will keep you at the edge of your seats. The movie has a good storyline and directing. The husband wife duo, Mike Flanagan and Kate Siegel are very good at horror thriller genre.
I found this movie somewhat of the same taste as "Don't Breathe".
A worthy watch.
Tenet (2020)
What a Movie!
Christopher Nolan is back to meddle with your mind. TENET is a treat for the Nolan fans. TENET is based on the concept of time inversion. With a confusing storyline and immense action. You don't understand it on the first watch, but believe me watch it for a second time and you'll certainly admire the film. Sound mixing is very good except the BGM is louder than the dialogues. Overall TENET gives you a very good cinematic experience. A must watch.
