Soul Survivors (1995)
"Lovejoy at his best"
A very delightful bit of filmwork that should have had wider distribution. Ian McShane is right at home playing the soul loving DJ who gets canned because he won't " go along with the program " and sets out to let the world know what they're missing. The supporting cast is great as well, and the music is the "Soul" of the film. I just wish that the film would be released so that I could get a copy of this for my film library.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Not exactly the book, but an outstanding film
Although this is not an exact movie version of the most widely read (and loved) work of fiction on earth, I have to give Peter Jackson an A+ for his interpretation. He certainly has the feel of the story even though there was some parts glossed over, other parts omitted (undoubtedly due to time constraints) and some minor changes to the story and characters. If this movie has the effect of causing more than the 50 Million worldwide almost fanatical lovers of the Lord of the Rings to also read the trilogy then Peter Jackson has indeed done a great service.I highly recommend the movie, but to truly appreciate the story, read the entire trilogy and the prequel "The Hobbit".
The Kremlin Letter (1970)
Rare,Highly Underrated Spy Story with a Great Cast
This movie made a tremendous impact on me. The first 5 minutes leaves the viewer gasping in disbelief in the callousness of the spy business. The plot is intricate with many twists which the excellent cast exploit for maximum impact. For those who did not live through the cold war, this film will be a real eye opener of the type of things that went on during this period.I only hope that it will become available on video for those of us who really like this movie.
