Julia: Chocolate Souffle (2022)
The perfect tonic
Another captivating episode of Julia. It's as if the stars aligned and this masterpiece named Julia was born. Writers, actors, directors, everyone involved are at the top of their game. This series is just the tonic I've needed, wanted, wished for to fill my heart.
Kiri (2018)
Gripping
If you don't have a lump in your throat while watching this series something clearly is off. Outstanding performances all the way around in the telling of this story. How quickly we can turn on one another, how truth can be twisted and weaponize. Don't look for this series to be wrapped up in a pretty package. It's not and, sadly, it's all too believable.
Back Home (2001)
A slow build-up that
I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this movie because it seemed to move at a snail's pace. It turns out this approach was perfect. Without realizing it until half way through the movie, I discovered that I had established an emotional relationship with each character, a development I wasn't expecting. Well done. Absolutely worth watching. And, once again, Sarah Lancashire was outstanding. That slow burn hit all the right notes.
