The Tomorrow War (2021)
Popcorn at the ready
Ok I shall start this review with I really really enjoyed this movie.
Did it have a massive plot twisting double twist twist at the end. No
Could it have maybe had a better script - maybe.
Did I care - God No.
The movie has a good premise which personally I felt was executed pretty well.
Yvonne S I have always liked for many reasons firstly It was looks but then her acting chops later on and let's not forget Miranda.
Chris P just keeps getting stronger, guardians is good, Terminal List he was awesome and in this he again shines.
That's just to name 2.
Visuals were great throughout.
Just need some popcorn or a beer, sit down and enjoy. I say all this but I avoided the movie for ages I think the trailer did not help. So pleased I had a night free and a beer in hand - loved it.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Timeless classic
After my yearly watch I am sat here with the same feelings if not more from my first watch way back when at the cinema - The movie is a masterpiece, great direction, cast, setting and heart.
From the start it sets out a message for the movie and continues along a theme throughout.
Clancy Brown plays his character so well as does the warden Bob Gunton, with great side parts especially from William Sadler. But the movie is about the relationship between Andy and Red and how that develops over time to end with that final scene of hope given form.
It's one of them movies that one day they will try and remake and on that day I shall feel sad. I hope they don't try, I hope to continue to see my friends Andy and Red as they are now as Morgan and Tim.
The Callisto Protocol (2022)
Dead space 2.0
As a dead space fan this game was always gonna tick boxes for me - stompy stompy.
The story was good and yes a bit dead spacy, I think they could've fleshed out a bit more but it was solid enough
the game play was enjoyable.
If they were to bring out part 2 would I mind - not at all.
Adding Josh for the main voice for me worked, and I am glad it was not gunner (no offense but you are Isaac)
I can see this story getting added to improved and even the back story would work.
Critically it is a bit repetitive and maybe a bit of driving or something else would have been good to break it up at times - flying and zero g is dead space so glad they didn't rip that.
I would like to see where this story goes next.
Moonfall (2022)
Brain off popcorn engaged - nonsense ensues
So this movie kinda ranks up there with Pacific rim - big dumb end of world nonsense with no sense but enjoy it for the ride, pretty sure logic was not what this movie goes for but it is a good laugh for a couple of hours - yes it's nicked elements of halo, mass effect and countless other movies/games but it is fun to watch if you let it be. Switch off your brain and enjoy it for what it is - it's ancient aliens on crack.
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
Go Go Power Rangers!!!!
Whilst the story for the humans seems almost non existent, and as usual they are all a bit dumb, doesn't mean it doesn't have some cool set pieces. The fight at the end although quite cool to watch, was an episode of power rangers.
All that being said - it's a big stupid monster movie - Popcorn at the ready remove brain and enjoy. Not all movies have to be Shawshank.
The Evil Within 2 (2017)
Stunning
This game reminded me of all the good things resident evil, silent hill and dead space. Great pacing, great story, have to say absolutely loved. No spoilers here just love for the game.
Enterprise: These Are the Voyages... (2005)
2021 - still the worst way to end a really good show
Ah pandemic lockdown, another chance to binge watch all that is trek - have really enjoyed enterprise this time round, it's aged pretty well and being character driven really works for the show and then.... Whoever's decision it was to make this huge steaming pile of garbage to finish it off needs a reet good slap - it's almost as bad as Dexter's finale!!!
Enterprise was a show not appreciated in its time.
Final Space (2018)
Superb series that gets better with each view
Very rarely does a series come along that is finely written and links nicely between episodes , between season one and two it works brilliantly. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves a well constructed series.
Down Periscope (1996)
Easy watching
One of them movies you can disengage brain and enjoy - Kelsey plays his role well, and supporting cast all seem sold on the movie and not just in it for the paycheck.
Recommend for all who want a chilled movie and not a thinker
The Walking Dead: Wrath (2018)
FFS
Ok so bit behind and finished last 3 episodes last night - on reflection ALL of season 8 could have been done in 2 episodes - they milked it till the point of blood coming out me thinks - and then they end it with a no score draw!!!! I mean FFS - so yeah I unlike most will not say I will stop watching as reality is I will be stupid enough to watch next season. But I tell you this if season 9 is poor I will be writing again about this and then probably watch season 10 haha
The Emoji Movie (2017)
violated
Currently sat watching this tripe of a movie and feel my senses are being violated in so many different ways.
What's worrying is my 5 year old daughter is sat watching this drivel and appears to like it!!!!!! How has the movie world succumb to this style of movie. I thought we had a lowering of the bar with Angry Birds, but noooooo.
This generation of children are being poisoned by this anal bleaching of a movie.
Avoid it - save yourselves its too late for me.
