Pretty Little Liars (2010)
I enjoyed it to begin with...
Let's be honest, the acting was never amazing and there were definitely some holes in the plot. But seasons 1-5 were pretty entertaining. One thing that does become apparent throughout this show is that there are plenty of random things that happen or are revealed that we never revisit.
The first 2 seasons were probably a decent length. It was enough time for you to get to know the characters and build up some suspense about who "A" was. Regardless of whether she was mentally unstable, I still don't really understand how a teenage girl would be capable of being everywhere and finding out everything. Overall though, at least there was a semi-reasonable motive.
Seasons 3-6A. Too long. The liars basically found out who "A" was pretty early on and then changed their mind. Season 3 is one of my least favourite seasons as I don't think the little side events with Emily were necessary. Seasons 4 and 5 were a lot better but they could probably have been combined into one. The motive for A this time was really not very understandable - no one here stole Alison from anyone but okay sure.
Season 6B-7: Too many twins and additional characters too late into the show. The identity of "Uber A" didn't even make sense. Why didn't they make it one of the characters that had been on the show since Season 1?
Still worth the watch but maybe skip the last 1 1/2 seasons.
Once Upon a Time (2011)
Let's just ignore season 7...
Seasons 1-3 were great. I really liked the character development as well as how all of the stories were intertwined. I was hooked! I especially took a liking to all of the villains as they all had very interesting motives.
Season 4: to each their own but I didn't really enjoy this season as much as the others. It wasn't terrible but the additional characters were definitely not as fascinating.
Season 5/6: Both reminded me more of the first few seasons. They're definitely worth the watch! I might also be biased because I'm very into medieval characters and Greek mythology but eh.
Season 7 was just a repeat of season 1 with the most boring characters in the history of anything. If this season didn't exist I'd award a 9, but I feel like I have to take it into account somewhat but in my head...it didn't happen.
The Hollow (2018)
It was good until it wasn't...
I didn't go into this show with high expectations because I'd never even heard of it. Cartoon show that contains adventure? Right up my street.
Season 1 was pretty much everything I expected and more. A small challenge/obstacle in each episode, a mysterious character that pops up every now and again, I watched the whole season back to back. There were some annoying moments or characters but I pretty much stayed hooked until the end. Then season 2 came...
Oh boy. This show just reminded me of writing stories as a child where you end it "and it was all a dream...". Why they had to be in a game show, I have no idea. The main characters being actual cartoon people would've been perfectly fine but the writers obviously wanted the show to have some sort of "OH gotcha" kind of moment. That was the beginning of the problems. Everyone having some form of connections/relationship in the outside world just ruined everything season 1 worked to create. Obviously I'm not in their position but the characters in Team B were acting really strange about the whole thing.
With season 1 alone, I'd probably score it a solid 9 but season 2 had to be a 2. As others mentioned, you should watch season 1 but then find something else to spend your time watching.
Dare Me (2019)
This show is something else...
I'm not sure I've seen anything this bad in a LONG time. I seriously couldn't finish it as it was just so boring. There was definitely potential for this to be good but it just wasn't. Every episode I kept waiting for something to happen, and it never did. This show is great at building suspense with no execution.
So many people are comparing it to Euphoria but this is far from it. Maybe they were trying to go for the same kind of thing but it fell flat on all levels. I didn't really find any of the characters too interesting as there wasn't enough time focusing on them. That, or they just did really unbelievable things.
Safe (2018)
Solid show
Heard a few things about this show and thought I'd give it a try. Sure the acting isn't great at times and there are definitely a few plot holes, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. One main thing was ending felt a little bit rushed as pretty much all of the revelations took place in a really short space of time. But overall, it's worth the watch.
