The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
Bad Directing
First I'm so glad that I did not pay for this. The movie starts off with an interesting premise about a non possessive entity but rather quickly the movie shows it's inability to grasp its audience. This was not a scary, horrific, tragic or thrilling experience for me. I enjoyed the first two Conjuring installments but this one lacks any striking identity and the choice of director was just wrong. There are ton of problems with the film and it's upsetting that the franchise is giving its fans this kind of effort. Overall it's watchable but I won't see it again.
Watership Down (1978)
Excellent
The world is both beautiful and brutal. I first watch this when I was a kid and man is this a great story. I don't know why adults lie to their children about the truth about the world. People can be cruel. I love how this story doesn't water down the reality that nature has to endure. Especially the part in which people sometimes destroy nature for their own personal gain. Overall seeing this was a great footnote in my child hood because it's honest and has a wholesome perspective. Glad this was made it is a timeless classic.
The Owners (2020)
Solid
Well directed horror flick with great intensity. I enjoyed watching it and every character added an element to the film. I never knew what exactly was going to happen which was good. Overall, the rating this received is funny to me..... and is probably the reason why we constantly get generic horror films. It's a 7.5 for me.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Not a typical horror series
This experience is one that emphasizes horrific events that haunt psychologically and has a lot of emotion distress. This probably won't get the acknowledgement it deserves but there is no question that this style of horror is brilliant. It is not your traditional jump scare horror series. The series is woven to make its audience relate to the very real horrors we face daily. It's well acted, creative, well written, and gut wrenching. This is not a series that is attempting to create malicious or evil effects but it rather focuses on the decisions and misfortunes that befall people in pain or are being manipulated. I personally wasn't scared but found myself entertained by its focus on the haunting of the characters which was a dramatic and eventful experience. Overall, this story is a serious drama/ horror that has good elements of mystery that a thoroughly enjoyed.
The Lovebirds (2020)
Simplistic with funny moments
The comedy is solid for me. The story is simple but had fun quirks. This is not top notch hilarity but it a nice chill movie.
Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)
Heartwarming and Amusing
I'm an American.... I love this film it is so very cute and refreshing to watch. The musical performances are stellar and I definitely will be listening to some of the songs in my free time. Rachel McAdams is delightful and the supporting cast are great. Overall the story just has a warm spirit about it. I loved getting a sneak peak into what the Eurovision Song Contest is all about.
Palm Springs (2020)
Fun Watch
The two main characters have great chemistry and are extremely likable. I wasn't expecting such a corky and fun movie. The movie truly has some hilarious scenes. I've never quite seen a take on this on the whole time loop concept. Overall the vibe of the movie is chill with an intriguing perspective about romance. It's a solid story with good writing and easy on the eyes....not bad for Hulu.
Breaking Bad (2008)
Not for me
My experience with this show was underwhelming. It's so slow paced ...the scenes are stretched out and are boring. The shows writing stales quick ....it's centered around two characters doing the same thing for majority of the time. The duo isn't really entertaining enough for it. This show isn't really gripping but draggy with no twists. Also the style of the show is plain it's really not unique to me. Another problem for me is all the characters surrounding the main characters are underdeveloped some more than others. Basically, the show is filled with minor characters and I prefer well multiple well developed characters. Unfortunately female characters are not given the same agency as the male characters. In fact the females are defined by their male counterparts. Overall I just wasn't entertained by the show.
The things that I enjoyed was the realism but not much else.
