#Screamers (2016)
Promising premise but doesn't deliver
This film isn't as bad as other users are making it out to be but it's not good either, although it did have potential. There was an opportunity to create an interesting mythos or a backstory but the film did neither, instead going the familiar path of far too many found-footage films preceding it. The acting is solid, although the characters are unbelievable in that they would continue to follow the lead like lap dogs. There's somewhat of a plot hole or maybe a fallacy is a better description. A single character not contacting the police when there is evidence of a missing girl possibly being alive is nuts. Even if the lead told them it was a hoax, someone should have taken it upon themselves to double-check. The ending leaves a lot to be desired, not answering anything but instead just letting things happen with no rhyme or reason. Overall the film took too much time to describe the company when it should have devoted that time to building a real mystery and mythology. This slows what otherwise could have been a solid story down. I can't recommend it but it's not horrible, either. Just sub-par when it could have been better.
Spiderhole (2010)
Starts off promising but lost its way
The first 20 minutes really grabbed me and had my attention. It was a captivating beginning and it showed a lot of promise. I thought the film was going to be a supernatural movie, but ended up being a torture slasher. It did a good job of not showing its hand.
Where the film started off promising quickly tapered off into a cliché torture film. Unrealistic actions and characters doing dumb stuff. This could have been a better movie but it succumbed to silly tropes of the sub-genre.
