Kolchak: The Night Stalker: The Werewolf (1974)
Season 1, Episode 5
10/10
One of the best Episodes
6 November 2009
The werewolf episode of the Nightstalker is one of the best 7 episodes of the show. Set on a cruise ship, the viewer can feel the claustrophobia of being isolated with no where to run while murder and fear is all around. Our classic hero Carl Kolchak is once again up to the task of figuring out what may be going on and goes head-to-head with the ships captain and his crew in trying to convince them of the terror that is aboard their ship. The formula is constant. The actors portrayals are perfect and the pace is great. Definitely an episode I never get tired of putting into the DVD player. Goes great with "The Vampire", "The Knightly Murders", "Horror In the Heights" "The Ripper" and 'The Zombie" and "Chopper"

Salem's Lot (1979)

Still Creepy

If you are over the age of 40, then you can remember the television commercial for the up-coming Salems Lot mini-series. That trailer had me hooked and I could NOT wait to watch this when it hit the air. I will say that as an 11 year old in 1979, this did not disappoint. The show was very atmospheric and the character portrayal was very believable.I did not read the book until years after I watched the mini-series. It goes without saying that the book was incredible, but the original television adaption was excellent. Some can complain that this movie leaves out too much of the book version, but that does not take away from the overall pace and story of the mini-series. If you have never seen the original television show, do yourself a favor and get it. If you have never read the book, do yourself a bigger favor and get it! By far, one of the greatest and scariest vampire story of all time. I watch it a few times a year and it brings me back to a great age in my life. It is still scary and still fun.

The Night Stalker (1972 TV Movie)
10/10
One of the greatest vampire films of all time
15 July 2009
This film is timeless. By timeless, I mean the story could not have been told any better. Of course the clothing and the cars, as well as the score seems dated, but so are these same features in Halloween, The Exorcist and a host of other classic horror films. Jeff Rice's idea of putting a vampire in a night-life city like Las Vegas was pure genius. The film itself is paced very well and we are completely absorbed within the atmosphere. The character of Kolchak, the reporter who figures out and tries to convince us all that this is a real vampire, is flawlessly portrayed by the always great Darren McGavin. I could go on about the movie, but it would become overkill since all of the other posters have hit it on the head. Do yourself a favor and BUY this film for your collection. If you are old enough to remember this movie as a pilot and then recall the series, you will have a blast watching it again. Great memories!
