What a boring film!
11 January 2005
I had the misfortune of having to watch this film in my favorite screen on Manchester Odeon's final day. I only chose it because it was showing in my favorite screen in Manchester's last real cinema on the day it closed.

I found it to be very slow and the twist at the end was entirely predictable. I see a lot of films these days thanks to my two sons, but the last film I felt was so bad and not worth the admission was Ben Stller's Zoolander and that's saying something.

Sorry but I fail to see what all the fuss is about M. Night Shyamalan. I saw signs as well and although it was slightly more entertaining than this 'bum-number' I thought it was pretty average as well.

Saturday Matinee Nostalgia
28 October 2002
This film will appeal to many UK residents of a certain age, who can remember the Saturday morning cinema clubs and this Children's Film Foundation offering is one of the classics of those heady 60's years.

Shot entirely on location in Manchester and Salford this film offers a glimps of a time and an age of innocence long since lost. A simple but well crafted story about the fortunes of a group of local kids whose lives revolve around their passion for football (soccer for those American members).

I had the good fortune of being able to buy this on dvd recently as part of a series of Childen's Film Foundation releases - well worth it!

Margaret Rutherford in one of her best roles
26 June 2001
Although Margaret Rutherford's take on Miss Marple was not to Agatha Christie's liking she stands out as one of the best Miss Marples in my estimation. She injected a lively quirkiness to the character which has been lacking in recent portrayals.

This is one of my 4 most favorite films Rutherford's timing and expressions are a joy to watch on screen!
