Nice Realistic Report
21 August 2001
I'm Italian, and I'm big enough to know what happened in Italy after the end of the Cold War. That's because I voted 9 for SEGRETO DI STATO: the plot of this movie (a cop and a judge, investigating a bomb explosion, discover corruption between Secret Service agents, politicians and Mafia) is a realistic report of what REALLY happened, sometimes, between 1991 and 1997 in Italy. Somebody may don't believe something like this could be happened in a democratic country, but IT WAS. SEGRETO DI STATO is NOT a real-story based film, beware, its plot is fictitious, but REALLY, between 1991 and 1995, in Italy were discovered conspiracies between Mafia, financial world, politicians and Secret Service agents.

Almost Blue (2000)

WONDERFUL!
14 July 2001
I suppose USA and generally non-Italian users cannot know who's Carlo Lucarelli. Well: Carlo Lucarelli is a journalist, a very famous (in Italy) journalist, specialized in crime columns. He worked for all major Italian newspapers and TVs, until he didn't decided to work by himself and became a black novels writer. ALMOST BLUE is based upon a his novel: and Lucarelli's experience with REAL facts obviously contributed to create a State-Of-The-Art thriller, with a very original plot and the usual, necessary GORE. It's a very, VERY good product: realistic, chilling, entertaining, absolutely NEW for the Italian cinema industry (monopolized by DARIO ARGENTO, regarding thrillers). Two thumps up and ten stars.

Rainbow Six (1998 Video Game)

TANGO DOWN!
11 July 2001
Once I had read the Tom Clancy's novel RAINBOW SIX, I always looked for this rare video-game title in all software shops arond my town. When it finally arrived as a pay-less version, it has been TANGO DOWN!I read, somewhere, that must be also a motion picture in production, based upon the Clancy's Novel. The plot is quite simple: this is an action videogame just like DOOM, but is a bit different. RAINBOW is an international SWAT team, composed by the brightest counter-terrorism agents from all-over the world to fight terrorism wherever on the planet. It all starts with a hostage situation at the British embassy in London, where RAINBOW team is called to intervene... and then, various missions, most of them based on the original novel's situations, and a secret, deadly plot comes out from behind this sudden terrorism wave. The way to play is here: you choose the weapons, the equipments and the men, you can made a plan, and you got to accomplish mission, such as defuse bombs, rescue and escort hostages... you CAN KILL TERRORISTS, OF COURSE, BUT THEY ALSO CAN KILL YOU, OR YOUR TEAM MEMBERS, OR THE HOSTAGES, so you must TOOK CARE... when the character that you're using dies, you get the control of another team member since they're all gone (you loose) or the mission is accomplished (you win), but you also loose if hostages are killed, or the bomb explodes, it depends from the mission. THIS IS THE FATHER OF ALL TACTICAL GAMES. Two Thumbs Up!
