Dolittle (2020)
Great family movie and for kids of all ages
I was really looking forward to Doolittle until I heard the reviews. But then I remembered I loved a certain movie that recently came out that was also panned. So, critics be damned! This was a fun, and often funny movie with heart and I - and my adult friends who saw it with me - really enjoyed it. Robert Downey, Jr. will always be Iron Man to me, but he made a darn good Dr. Doolittle. Go and see it with an open mind and the heart of a child.
What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (2018)
Wonderful Looking Back
I've loved DS9 since it was first broadcast, own the DVDs and have binged-watched it numerous times on Netflix. The documentary reminded me once again why I love these characters as portrayed by actors of incredible talent. The writing staff, whom you view through the doc as they came up with ideas for a new episode, were first-rate. It wasn't all fun and games putting on this great show for 7 years, and you hear from the actors and the producers how very tiring it was, but for the most part, it was upbeat and extremely enjoyable.
Last Man Standing: Helen Potts (2015)
Laughed until I cried
I loved everything about this episode. The references made to "Home Improvement" were very funny and spot on. Loved the "Hidey-ho neighbor" spot, especially when Mike asked him if he was wearing anything besides his hat. But when his daughter went to the VFW on that Wednesday evening and found out what Ed was doing, I completely lost it. The tears started flowing and I couldn't stop. I have always felt guilty about the way our military were treated when they returned from Viet Nam (I am from that era) and it really got to me. I taught both of my children that it was never too late to welcome home a Viet Nam Vet and I think Tim Allen was saying the same thing with this episode. Very, very, very well done.
