Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire (2023)
A Visually Stunning but Hollow Sci-Fi Epic
Rebel Moon is a visually stunning film. The CGI is well done, and the cinematography is impressive. However, that's the only positive thing I can say about it.
I'm a fan of Zack Snyder, but he has some serious flaws as a filmmaker. This film suffers from a lack of character development and plot. For about 90 minutes, the film is just a series of scenes where the main characters travel from planet to planet, recruiting allies for their cause. These scenes are somewhat unnecessary and boring, and they don't advance the story or the characters. Such as the one with the flying creature. What was the purpose of that scene?
Some scenes are also disturbing and offensive, like the one with the gay bar and the sexual assault or the grape scene. What was the purpose of these scenes? How did they contribute to the film?
The main problem with this film is the lack of plot. It doesn't feel like a movie, but rather a collection of random events. The film showed more scenes than needed and less than required.
Sex Education (2019)
A Show That Lost Its Way
I'm not a fan of movies and TV shows that promote degeneracy and immorality, but I have to confess that I was somewhat entertained by the first two seasons of Sex Education. I liked the chemistry between Otis and Ruby, and I wished they would end up together instead of Meave. Meave was too boring and predictable, and her storyline was dragged on for too long. The relationship between Otis and Ruby in season 3 was a breath of fresh air, and I enjoyed seeing them grow closer. That is, until the writers decided to ruin everything by making Ruby say "I love you" to Otis out of the blue. That was so out of character for her, and it made no sense!
Seasons 3 and 4 were a disaster. The worst character ever was Cal Bowman, who was annoying and irrelevant. The best character ever was Hope Haddon, who was the only sane and sensible person in the whole show. The writers made a huge mistake by making Hope the antagonist of the show. How can they expect us to root for a bunch of horny and depraved students who have no respect for themselves or others, and then make the most rational and reasonable character, Hope, the villain? That's ridiculous.
Season 4 was a waste of time. Nothing interesting or meaningful happened. People kept saying that Adam had the best arc and I'm here like, "what arc?" lol. I mean, Adam was such a baby the whole season. Really, every time he was with his father, I thought he would cry. He really was such a manchild.
All things considered, though, I continue to wonder if this is the same show from two years ago. It's horrible, really. But the most grounded and sensible character, in my memory, will always be Hope Haddon.
Angels with Dirty Faces (1938)
A Flawed Hero and a Questionable Priest
The movie is well-made for the era, featuring tense action sequences, witty dialogue, and realistic settings. Rocky in particular exhibits glimmers of humanity and remorse beneath his hard exterior, making him one of the most well-developed and complex characters. In addition, the movie raises ethical concerns about how the government, the media, and the church shape public opinion and social behaviour.
But there are some problems with the movie as well. The priest's plot against the corrupt politicians and gangsters seems contrived and unrealistic. His final visit to Rocky in prison is disappointing, as he does not offer him any spiritual comfort or guidance, but only asks him to pretend to be a coward in front of the kids. He also assaults a reporter in an earlier scene, which undermines his credibility as a moral authority. The film's ending is ambiguous and controversial, leaving the audience to wonder if Rocky's last act was sincere or staged.
Another weakness of the film is the portrayal of the kids, who are supposed to be Rocky's admirers and Father Connolly's proteges. They seem like real brats who are rude, rebellious, and disrespectful to everyone. They do not show any gratitude or remorse for their actions, and they do not seem to learn anything from their experiences. They are not worth saving anyway, as they are likely to follow Rocky's footsteps or end up in jail or worse. They are not sympathetic or relatable characters, but rather annoying and irritating ones.
Overall, Angels with Dirty Faces is a compelling and entertaining film that deserves its place in cinematic history. It offers a fascinating portrait of a flawed hero who struggles with his conscience and his fate. It also challenges the viewers to reflect on their own values and beliefs.
The Gray Man (2022)
What a Horrendous Piece of Trash Movie This Was.
What a horrendous piece of trash movie this was. What was the point of it? It was a nonsensical mess of a plot, with characters acting on whims and impulses that made no sense whatsoever.
The movie started with Ryan Gosling, a criminal assassin who worked for the CIA for 18 years, suddenly going rogue for no apparent reason. He deviated from his mission, killed his target, and took a flash drive that contained some mysterious secrets. Why did he do that? At no point in the film was his reasoning for doing that mentioned.
Then we have Ana De Armas, a CIA analyst who somehow got involved in this mess. She was interrogated by her superiors about the mission, and then she decided that she was compromised and had to escape. How did she manage to get out of a secure CIA facility? How did she track down Gosling's character? How does she keep popping up in different locations around the world to help him out whenever the plot needs her to be? Again, the movie never bothered to explain.
This movie made me so furious. It was BAD. It insulted my intelligence and wasted my precious time. It was full of clichés, plot holes, and illogical actions. It had no depth, no meaning, no purpose. It was a pathetic attempt at making an action thriller that failed miserably. Do yourself a favour and avoid this movie at all costs.
The Last of Us (2023)
dragged-out storylines where basically NOTHING HAPPENS
This show was really bad. Besides episodes 1 and 2, everything else was just a drag. The finale was so rushed, as I expected. Because, again, (minus episodes 1 and 2) when you have 6 episodes and you waste those episodes for your own agendas and on unnecessary dragged-out storylines where basically NOTHING HAPPENS, you get a rushed finale.
****DON'T MIND ANYTHING PAST THIS POINT****

The Dig (2021)
I enjoyed this film
It's a well-made film. Divided into two plots, they both go hand in hand smoothly.
There is one scene that I didn't quite understand though. When Mrs Pretty asks Mr Brown to accompany her to dinner, and Mr Brown said yes, what happened after? Did they go? Did Mr Brown call it off? I was confused.
The soundtrack was excellent. It gave the film a calm and emotional theme. I like these kinds of films.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Everyone needs to be stupid
Everyone needs to be stupid for the plot to continue. The writing is abysmal, it's lazy, and very mediocre. The show is cheap and unoriginal.
Us star wars fans deserve better than this garbage. Disney star wars is doomed.
Morbius (2022)
Mediocre at best, but still good
This film was cliched, generic, and had little stakes. It was also rushed heavily. It didn't give itself time to grow. Like from the childhood scenes up to the time they became adults.
Milo's sudden change in behaviour came out of nowhere. If the film paced itself smoothly and didn't rush itself, maybe that transition in character would make more sense - along with a whole lot of other stuff.
All in all, it's a watchable film, a good film.
That's all I have to say.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Imagination is very crucial for Star Wars
The faults were the dialogue being slow and lame, the show itself being too slow, lack of plot in the present scenes, 2 episodes having nothing to do with the show, lack of originality etc.
Halo ring, why? Terminator reference, why? King kong reference, why? Why is a bounty hunter replacing his 'bounty friendly' ship for a naboo starfighter? Cad bane's death was disappointing.
The past scenes were good though. The soundtrack was also good. Especially the credits.
Overall, the main issue was the writing, writing for dialogue, and imagination. Especially imagination. Imagination is very crucial for Star Wars.
I miss Goerge Lucas.
Malignant (2021)
What is this film??
Nothing made sense in this movie. It's just nonsensical and stupid.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
More good than bad
The characters lacked interest and the jokes weren't funny.
But nevertheless, it was a good film.
