The Wire (2002)
Not for the faint hearted
One of the best written shows I've ever seen comparable on the level of something like Breaking Bad. This show is not for the faint hearted as stated in the title, especially from season 2 onward where the show really picks up. You'll have to be patient because it can be slow to begin with, but once you watch enough and get an understanding of the characters, you're guaranteed to get hooked on. I'll describe this show as very very "raw". No sugarcoating, no rainbows and sunshine crap, it's all street level realism. Perfectly demonstrates the impact of drugs, violence, politics and organized crime has on the men, women and children of the society. It's not a fairy tale, it's not happily ever after in the real world and this show is a iconic example of that. Totally worth watching in my opinion.
The Last: Naruto the Movie (2014)
A beautiful conclusion!
People might have polarizing opinions about this movie, but for me personally I don't have a problem with how they have shifted the overall narrative of Naruto from action to romance, though this film is not at all short on action. Looking at the chronological order, the events in this story occur after the war just before the final 4-5 episodes of Shippuden which has the Naruto wedding arc. Hinata is a girl I have rooted for since the Naruto season 1 days. She loved the least cared about boy in the class from the very beginning and ends up with the strongest man in the 5 nations and a war hero. I also love how Naruto matures over the course of the movie; being the usual goofball who is too dense to understand Hinata's feelings towards him but realizes it after seeing her dreams and hopes how her love is pure and unadulterated ever since they were kids. Every guy should have a girl like Hinata by his side and this movie is a testament to that! For those who have seen Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, I would definitely recommend this movie and for those who haven't, I would 100% recommend watching Naruto and Naruto Shippuden and this movie! Its a beautiful end to a beautiful saga and even though Boruto in ongoing, I am sad to see this story end!
Naruto: Shippûden (2007)
A masterpiece
It's a story that makes you laugh, makes you cry, gives you important life lessons. It teaches you the importance of love, hate, friendship and forgiveness. It's rare for a TV show to portray so many things all together and Naruto Shippuden manages to do this. Character development of Naruto and the others over the seasons is phenomenal. Special mention to the music and background score, it's one of the best I've heard in a long time. I'm not usually a very emotional person but certain episodes are guaranteed to open the dam of tears for everyone like it did for me. The greatest regret I have is not watching this earlier and it's easily broken into my top greatest TV shows I've seen ever. Highly recommend it, skip the filler episodes if you want and watch the storyline, it's worth it!
Ozark: Fire Pink (2020)
This episode alone deserves all the awards
I might be a little late to the party since I recently started binge watching Ozark on Netflix, but after watching SE03 EP9, I am left speechless. Having dealt with and witnessed a mental health patient very close to me, I cannot find a better depiction of that in any TV series ever. The raw emotions portrayed by both Julia Garner and Tom Pelphrey brought me to tears midway through the episode right to the end! Tom Pelphrey has done a marvelous job and the character he has played deserved and outstanding actor award! Just wow!
