How the West Was Won (1962)
It's OK
With a ton of big names involved you'd think this would be an epic masterpiece. For me it falls kinda flat. It doesn't stand up to the expectations. Entirely too much singing (i didn't realize this was a musical). The way it was filmed with 3 cameras was annoying due to being able to clearly see the lines separating each camera. I know this is sacrilege but the acting from these folks was amateur at best. Mr Peck was as fake as anyone I've ever seen. The narration was very good.
Bonanza: The Lady from Baltimore (1962)
8/10
This episode is awful risque for 1962. I never expected to see a beautiful young lady stepping out of a tub on Bonanza. I always like to guess which Cartwright is gonna get the girl. 9 out of 10 times it's Joe.
The Twilight Zone (1985)
Holy Crap
I sat through the first 19 episodes and i tell ya, my mind was blown to how bad this is. Not 1, i mean not 1, segment made me go "wow, that one was good". The 7.8 rating as of posting is very suspicious. By way of comparison the original series is a 9.0 so 7.8 is in the ballpark. Utter garbage.
IO (2019)
"BLAH BLAH BLAH" says St. Greta
I keep getting tricked by Netflix into watching something i thought was sci-fi and turns out to be a lesson in social justice. This is the last thing i watch on Nexflix and will cancel. You had so much potential.
Clickbait (2021)
Average
A lesson in political correctness disguised as a murder mystery. They managed to get all the boxes checked in this one. Netflix puzzles me. The parental warning warns of "language and smoking" but seems to think that excessive drinking and distracted driving is A-OK. This show represents everything wrong with today's society. The addiction to cell phones, dating sights, constant texting while they're in a face to face conversation with somebody else is grade A rudeness. Only recommended if you are having problems finding something else to watch.
Midnight Mass (2021)
BE FOREWARNED
Please know prior to going in this is a vampire story. If you got sick of that genre last decade then you might want to move on. I'm not a religious guy, so as far as the Christianity bashing (which is obviously the only religion guilty of anything) is concerned, that part doesn't bother me in the least. There are some very subtle social justice issues stuck in there, which is expected in today's "entertainment" world. The first 6 episodes were manageable, I'd rate them 7, but that last one was god awful horrible. I'm thinking that Flanagan will soon be able to sell bottled urine and people will call it great and creative.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
Well Done
I thoroughly enjoyed this mini-series. Haunted horror is much better than slasher horror. Great story which was given 10 episodes to tell was perfect. I love the flashbacks to when the family was younger. It helps us know where the players are coming from. It wasn't a bit scary but had some good creepy parts. There was however way too many attempts to frighten us with the suddenness of particular scenes. Plus the sound effects that build up to a "frightening" scene was way overused, but that's modern day Hollywood i guess, which doesn't excuse it.
Black Mirror: Smithereens (2019)
5/10
I'm still trying to figure out why the sniper couldn't just relocate. Is this kind of incompetency that wide spread in the UK? If not then the writers are doing you guys a great disservice.
Trilogy of Terror (1975)
oh the good times
I was 7 (yes 7!) when i watched this on TV. Mom and dad and brothers sitting right there watching it with me. I've thought about this for years. I remember the doll chasing the woman around yelling ya ya ya ya. I remember it going in the oven. I remember it's spirit going into the woman and her crouched on the kitchen floor with that knife driving it into the floor. A magical era in the formerly good ol US of A.
Time Trap (2017)
Nice job
Great little flick with some really cute chicks in it. Refreshing to see a movie without a political slant or a "stupid" hero in it. Give it a chance. They did a good job with the $1M budget.
The Rifleman: Skull (1962)
again?
It seems somebody is getting kidnaped every episode now. Plus I've seen that same deer running through the field 3 times now.
Occupation (2018)
give it a try
Great flick. Tons better than most garbage coming out of Hollywood these days. Reading complains on this board i'm hearing bad acting. You people obviously don't watch any of the current stupid hero movies coming out of the crap factory in downtown USA.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Huh?
What is this juvenile garbage? Terrible acting. CGI was cheap looking and excessive. Terrible script and story line. Can we get any more PC? $185 mil and this is the best they could do? I've watched better crap circling the toilet bowl. It's to the point where they can throw any "stupid" hero to the wall and braindeads will watch. No wonder Hollywood sucks. You people don't allow them to be creative anymore. "Hey let's make a movie." "OK, how about a PC stupid hero flick?" "GREAT IDEA!" RIP Hollywood.
The Jurassic Games (2018)
who needs a $300 million budget
Fun movie. Cool story. Highly recommend. I laugh at the reviews criticizing the CGI. IMO that's what has ruined the movie industry.low budget flix like this is my new go to since covid and noisy and inconsiderate people have ruined movie going.
Alien Showdown: The Day the Old West Stood Still (2013)
not bad
Give it a chance guys. We know it's sort of a ripoff of alien. The story is interesting. Some really nice boob shots, and we all like those.
2012: Ice Age (2011)
"So you've declared war on the glacier?"
I guess that makes them "glacierist". Or maybe the glacier has oil. Seriously, i enjoy these low budget disaster films. I seem to always end up rooting for nature because i realize humans really are as stupid in real life as they are depicted in these films. It had a $250,000 budget guys. What do you expect? Most movies these days have a $200mil+ budget, and they still suck. These flix seem to always have some familiar faces in them though. The dad was on Little House and the mom was on growing pains for a while.
Young Guns (1988)
Wow Wee
If you're looking for something historically accurate then don't come to a Hollywood movie looking for it, It'll never happen. Instead go to the History Channel or The Discovery Channel or an encyclopedia. My guess those aren't very accurate either. But I come to Hollywood to be entertained, and that is the result here. When it first came out in theaters I went 3 times to watch it. I've only done that to 1 other movie, Cloud Atlas. From beginning to end this movie leaves you on the edge of your seat, heart pounding, palms sweaty. It's a fun ride.
Geostorm (2017)
fun but predictable
Typical modern day Hollywood. I look to Hollywood to entertain, not for a science lesson, and this delivered. It's full of clichés and predictability but that's what modern day movie writing is all about. At least Abbie Cornish still looks good.
Greenland (2020)
A nice change
It's refreshing to see a doomsday movie that doesn't try blaming humanity. It gets a little farfetched at times like how they get separated but somehow manage to rejoin. I mean it's a long way from Atlanta to Lexington but she stops at the right place to find her son? The couple times they were supposedly traveling north of Lexington but on 2 different occasions we saw road signs for Georgia highways? That's a real easy fix for Hollywood but they were too lazy to do anything about it I guess. Putting all of that aside I really enjoyed this. I always root AGAINST humanity BTW.
Lost: Stranger in a Strange Land (2007)
Not the worse
I know everybody loves to hate on this episode but my opinion it's a pretty good one. The island parts are great viewing. Sure the off island story is so so but at least it's not Charlie and his lame band playing his lame music in a crib wearing diapers. My vote for the worse Lost episode is without a doubt SOS. They took the 2 most boring characters and gave them their own show. Rose is the woman you want to hold under water until she stops kicking and Bernard looks like a tard when he's running.
Falling Skies (2011)
typical hollywood BS
It gets old episode after episode. group gets attacked. group gets captured. the mason clan fixes everything. of course every modern action show needs a Pope but do we ALWAYS need the love stories? sickening. well, at least there's some pretty hot chicks. i've never heard of saychele gabriel or moon bloodgood before or since this show but thanks for the introduction.
Babylon 5: Secrets of the Soul (1998)
AAARRRGGGHHH!!
Dear God I hate Byron. this story line is putting me to sleep. I'm new to B5 so I'm hoping for his eventual grisly death. I love B5 but at this point I can't wait for S5 to be over with. I miss Ivanova
Disappeared: The Soldier's Wife (2012)
??
The lead-up to the part where the girl goes missing is just unbelievable. typical PC culture
Battlestar Galactica: Sine Qua Non (2008)
Mark Sheppard is great!
This episode reminds me why i hate politicians and the media.
Battlestar Galactica (1978)
Nice, real nice
Lots of lovely ladies in this but Jane Seymour is the very definition of perfection!
