Entourage (2015)
Not a good film
I have to admit I didn't finish it
I couldn't get through the 40 minute mark
Disappointed in the directing
The characters are not well written, there is no scene that helps me connect or like any of them
There is nothing interesting about the cinematography or the editing or the music. I don't think It's funny.
Having never seen the Tv show, I can only guess where they were trying to go with it. The sense of putting the viewer into the mess of movie making, where it's impossible to predict what will happen.
I don't think they succeeded in that.
The portrayal of women (young, sexy and naked or topless a lot of the time) is dated at best and sexist at worst. They seem more then plot devices then people. The men aren't written any better, treated as caricatures of men.
So I didn't like it, there's probably something else you could do with your time.
Dune (2021)
Fails At Characters
Yes the visuals, the sound editing and the special effects are fantastic. The film fails on a much simpler level: it is impossible to identify with the main characters.
No interesting/realistic character relationships, no character moments or arcs. Basically barely any characters. Paul's relationship with Jessica is not well portrayed, Yuahs relationship to everyone is terribly portrayed, Duncan and Paul's relationship falls flat, not of the characters change or grow throughout the film. Basically a bad portrayal of characters.
The exposition is not incorporated into the story well, it feels very forced- which is the opposite of the book which throws us in. I think audiences are fine with not understanding the world building as long as they identify with the main characters.
Also why are they sitting on the hottest planet ever and just talking about how hot it is? No one ever sweats in the movie, not even while running through a desert. As someone who lives in the Middle East it is ridiculous to watch a movie of people sitting around, not sweating, complaining of the intense heat.
Predestination (2014)
Bad movie
I really don't understand why people like this film. Although well crafted, the twist is just awful. The acting is great and the first act sets up and amazing story and then... just ruins it with the worst idea for a twist ending in the history of film. The message of this film is terrible, and incredibly messed up. Don't watch this garbage.
Love Actually (2003)
The worst rom-com ever made
As a fan of rom-coms, I found this unwatchable. The film didn't know how to deal with the multiple story lines, the characters weren't likable. Just a terrible movie overall.
Enola Holmes (2020)
I loved it!
A really fun film, perfect for family movie nights. Millie Bobby Brown is a fantastic actress, it really impressed me that she produced this film- I'm looking forward to her next one.
The plot was good, the characters are likable, the message was strong, and the mystery engaging. I would recommend it.
Enslaved (2020)
Brilliant!
This is a powerful, well researched series that gives voices to those that history forgot.
I didn't know any of the important information on the slave trade before watching the series. The series deals with sensitive issues done in a respectful ways, and provides many different perspectives from experts.
I really enjoyed getting to know the amazing divers and watching their incredible adventures to uncover the truth.
I can't wait for the next episode!
