Beef (2023– )
10/10
It definitely belongs to the pantheon of the best tv shows
24 August 2023
Beef is different, provocative and above all, it exposes human nature at its core...

I mean what can you say about a tv show that you cannot categorise.. and trust me, i watch a lot of tv shows

It starts with a silly incident and from there it builds and builds and builds, until it ends... The "beef" is what really matters and it's the glue that keeps the scenario cohesive throughout all the episodes. The writers realised that one from the beginning, which is why they wrote a masterpiece

Also turning around all the asian stereotypes was a stroke of genius!

If you want to watch smth different ,then please give it a go.

Worse than the recent Fantastic Four or the 80s Supergirl!
26 December 2020
Remember those cheesy 80s movies that didn't have funds for a descent scenario and special effects but at least had a descent 80s feeling?

Well here you have descent special effects , a kitch extravaganza depiction of the 80s and a lame scenario that has more plot holes than a swiss cheese!

The problem was that someone at Warner decided to make a WW family adventure,at the early 80s,as a nod to Richard Doner's Superman, and expected to work on screen as a sort of WISHFUL thinking instead of making something coherent... Add to the mix a) some renowned WW rivals which are cheap caricatures of themselves (Wiig is totally unfit) & b) influence in the most atrocious manner ever from some infamous comic storylines (2005-07 era) and the result is unwatchable. It has also nothing to do with the first WW movie...

Watch it ONLY if you are a WW fanatic and at your own peril

Worth watching for originality, but it has its issues
24 December 2020
Influenced by : Jordan Peele (he is producer) & George Lucas (Indiana Jones/Back To The Future)

Pros :

  • Original Horror story
  • Main characters are black ,which is rare to see in the horror genre
  • Good Guys have strong character development with their own agency
  • Amazing music & cinematography

Cons :

  • Convoluted scenario , tries to mix magic, drama, occult & time travelling (!)
  • Quite lengthy series . The producers had in mind 10 episodes and they end up adding lots of fillers , it would have worked much better story-wise with 5-6 episodes
  • Shoehorning contemporary social commentary in a 50s drama. Whilst it makes sense to deal with racism in that era , the producers also managed to add social commentaries about diversity , LGBT, feminism ! In a horror series!!
  • The bad guys' characters development is non existent ,they merely appear to promote the "evil White Male" mantra .Even the main "bad" female character is poorly developed

Blackadder (1982–1983)
4/10
Humourless
6 June 2018
I really like Rowan Atkinson and his style of comedy and I really appreciate witty/sarcastic humour in British comedies

But whilst Black Adder seems to be a clever concept for a comedy , it lacks spectacularly in the only department that really matters: humour

I tried to watch Black Adder twice and every time I came to the same conclusion ; This kind of humour depicted in Black adder is either for kids or idiots, in essence not funny .It tries to be funny ,but it's not

Don't waste your time on this garbage. If you want British Classic , try watch Mr Bean ,Not the Nine O Clock News or Yes Prime Minister.

Unless if you fancy mediocre medieval humour in the 80s, just stay away from this

No Mention of Greece! Bias or Incompetency?
6 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Imagine if someone was making a documentary for the First Civil War without even mentioning Belgium ,what kind of documentary would that be deemed?

Now the producers managed to achieve no mention of Greece, whilst having the opportunity to do so for 10 episodes!

And no, we are not talking about interpretations of facts (the Armenian/Pontian genocide is 'disputed' according to the authors) , we are talking about just mentioning Greece (!) despite the fact that Greece participated in the First World War

If someone didn't know anything about the First World War ,this documentary gives the impression that Greece didn't participate at all!!

That's an utter disgrace and the explanation is simple.Either the producers did that one deliberately , or they are incompetent

And whilst the documentary is in general well produced , they managed to fail spectacularly by NOT including one of the main countries who participated in the First World War

Runaways (2017–2019)
4/10
Starts promising but...
18 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Runaways is a cheap version of Chuck ,OC & the respective comic trying to tick the boxes of ultra feminism ( the rape scene/acceptable sexual harassment if it's done by a queer character!) & shoehorned diversity ( it is so lame even by TV standards that the parents who belong to an evil organisation happened to be exactly a white , a black , a Latino and an Asian couple - and no, it's NEVER OK to change the race of the comic book characters )

And you would have accepted all those flaws because you know it's teen drama. But the scenario is full of inconsistencies and it's dragging...a lot just because the scriptwriters had a 2nd unnecessary season in mind

The Good Fight (2017–2022)

It's on a 'Good Wife' Level ,but without the white male protagonists from Good Wife
16 August 2017
The show continues the legacy of Good Wife.It is top quality legal drama. It is heavily politically biased, but it does not become sermonizing

The new actors/actresses are superb.Especially Rose Leslie & Delroy Lindo

But context matters. It is understandable that the show will incline to a more diverse cast since the main protagonists work for a black legal firm now

What's ridiculous though is the lack of all the leading white male actors from the Good Wife in a major role. Most of the white women, the black man,the black woman from 'Good Wife' have a major role

Does it matter? This is still a 'Good Wife' universe and whilst it doesn't affect the stories,it affects the context since it makes you wonder where did all the characters go.It becomes unrealistic

The producers wanted a more diverse show compared to Good Wife and that's fine. But what they've made is not the definition of a diverse show (They also don't show any disable/Asian/Latino character)

Bad Moms (2016)

Stay Away!
30 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Contains Spoilers

Reasons NOT to see the movie: - All the male characters have serious flaws, even distinguishing between boys and girls!!! Of course in a movie like this you expect to see that to a certain degree. But moving beyond that degree as this movie does,it seems to promote the message that all men are 'bad guys'

  • The movie is full of unnecessary sexist elements (Circumcision, male entitlement subject towards a kid!)within the dialogues - Putting women to behave like men does not make it funny.A female character must act as a female character, not like a caricature of its own self. - Scenario is mediocre

Reasons to see the movie:

  • Some good slapstick moments

  • Great Ensemble , but underutilized

The Strain (2014–2017)
10/10
Even Better than Walking Dead!Must see for Zombies/Vampires fans!
13 October 2016
I really like the 'zombies' genre. But in general watching zombies is more suited for a big budget movie rather a TV show;you want more action, rather unnecessary dialogues. So how do you make a decent TV show and fill 45 minutes?

That is why The Strain is a masterpiece of its kind.On every episode it has the proper balance between action & dialogues and on top of this is has amazing flashbacks that shed light to the main characters

On the contrary Walking Dead is filled more with unnecessary soap opera dialogues and way too less action that makes it boring.Z Nation is way too low budget with many gaps in the scenario

The Strain also combines elements from both zombies/vampires and Guillermo del Toro as a producer guarantees that one

If you really like Blade 2/Hellboy/28 Days Later that is a must see!

WALT Disney has destroyed MARVEL's characters!
5 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Contains Spoilers!

I don't usually write reviews but I am so disappointed with the movie that I don't know where to begin! Scenario lacks cohesion ,superheroes making cheesy jokes in the middle of battles that determine the end of the world, romance lacks chemistry , the selection of the twins totally sack ,dream scenes are awful , even Ultron is entering into cheese dialogues!!And the battles:most of the time you don't realise what is going on since you are being bombarded in the screen with destroyed buildings, cars etc etc... On the other hand Disney does not allow their characters to swear(sic) , but provides us with a gazillion products' placements during the movie.Only Super Goofy is missing from Avengers to make it a total Disney movie..
