Shepherd (1998)
a comic book story, very western.
yes, this is a prety bad film, and it does have some unexplained aspects, plus the sex scene lasts way too long, and does nothing for the plot. anyway, this was a very class film, you have to see past the imperfections of the film, however badly it was filmed, and however pathetic the martial arts aspects, in fact, i kick better than howell. i loved this film no matter how badly it was made, i reckon that if this had been made as an annimation, it would have kicked ass, considering it was only a very low budget film, they just couldn't achieve the grandure and scale that was needed to make that film work, that and the fact that the robot, was about as effective as a lepper with a sharp stick, they quite blatently used the leftovers from short sircuit on that thing. i draw cartoons as a hobbie, and i'm gonna say right here and now, that i am going to remake this film in animated form and send it to the makers of this film, simply because i think this film deserves a second shot.
Jung wa ying hong (1999)
very good comic book adaptation a few poor points.
this film is without doubt, the second best hong kong cinema presentation i have ever seen, next to once upon a time in china. it is a classy piece of comic strip adaptation, it uses very good and original ways to convey it's fight scenes, especially when they fight in the rain. admitably the plot get really confusing, because we suddenly get shot about 16 years into the future, to follow the son of hero, which really confused me, but asside from that i thought it was a great film, i loved the ninja scene, and the completely different martial arts styles being represented here especially fire's martial art style, it just went so well with the trail of fire he left with his hands. in all, very cool film, very cool characters, some poor special effects, but you don't really see them when you get into the film. very comic strip, you need to be a fan of martial arts and comic strips to really apretiate this film, and in a sense for comic book lovers, it much better just to watch the credits, because they animate scenes from the comic book, very cool.
