Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
garbage, desensitizing and over-sexualizing
In addition to having extremely mediocre writing (feels like an angsty 6th grader wrote this stupid show), CAOS also serves up softcore satanism in a way that feels a bit too desensitizing for me and oversexualizes these young teens just like that other trash show Riverdale.
I mean, do we really gotta do cannibalistic sacrifices to the "dark lord" and then have young teen orgies in order to make a compelling and slightly edgy show?? I can't believe this kind of stuff is necessary and it seems to me like another example of hollywood creepers trying to normalize this weird s***. Especially since the target audience is basically high school girl. It's not bad enough that the show is a cringe fest and the writing is a mess, I think this kind of stuff tries to condition a little bit too much.
Away (2020)
An incredibly well executed drama, amazing thematic material, deserves more praise
This show isn't a cheesy action packed sci-fi, it's an incredible drama that uses a Mars mission as the vehicle for more interpersonal stories. Such an amazing show and I can't believe it's not renewed for a second season. Not only is it impeccably acted, it does a great job at building tension while simultaneously inspiring the viewer with deep humanitarian themes. Great representation in the cast and such a heartfelt message of humans working together. Definitely watch this show and sign a petition for a second season please!
Murder at the Cottage: The Search for Justice for Sophie (2021)
Phenomenal, does what a doc should
This doc, as opposed to the Netflix one, actually lets you decide things for yourself. Presents the case and a compelling way while not "telling you" who they think did it. Also, really interesting to see the irregularities in the police work on this case that the Netflix doc just glosses over in favor of pushing a certain narrative. Would definitely recommend this doc!
