SDDS...Same dance, different show
3 February 2022
The music is good, even if it doesn't come over as powerful as on "Lord of the dance" and "Feet of Flames".

The new "Lord" isn't Michael Flatley, which is good. Way less arrogant stage appearance.

All in all, it's great to look at and it makes you tap your feet along with the music. But is it something that sticks so much in your head that you whistle it along for the next weeks after having seen it?

No.

A good spy movie...without real spies and with some flaws.
21 January 2022
As a German interested in the younger history of my country I watched the movie as soon as I could. And well, I wasn't disappointed.

It gives you a closer look at the workings of the diplomacy of that time. And it gives you a better look at Neville Chamberlain, who always get somewhat loomed over by a certain Mr. Churchill.

It's a half fictional story about two former friends from England and Germany which find themselves at different sides of what would become history. Not real spies, but some sort of conspirators.

The movie looks very accurate with all the mannerisms and the look of the time period.

Things annoying are the role of August Diehl, as he is totally over acting as the half-villain, and Hitler himself. The man was 50 at the time of the setting. The actor who played him is 62 and you can see that.

But, all in all, a very watchable movie. Cudos to the set decorators.

Entertaining, but highly illogical.

Warning: Spoilers
Yeah, Kristen Stewart has (as opposed to many memes) actually more than just one face expression.

Yeah, the other ladies (what were their names?) were good as well.

Yeah, Patrick Stewart can play the bad guy.

The combination of that does not make a good movie. Yeah again.

By the way: Yeah, anyone who's ever been to Hamburg or lives there (like me) wouldn't ever think the first car chase could happen for real...because they didn't mention any "Star Trek-Transporter-Thingies" at all. Every street corner displayed in the movie is kilometers apart from every other.

If you're switching off your brain for the time being you can watch an action comedy with not much action and not much comedy. But at least the feminist overtones guarantee some "tough" chucks in quite displaying clothes.

Entertaining...a lot!

This could/should have been the new Indiana Jones - Movie. If it was, everyone would praise the stars and the direction. Not to mention the really good camerawork.

As a plus you can hate Ed Sheeran (again) an like him a lot within five seconds.

Too little, too long.
9 June 2021
I've always wanted to see this movie but actually never got around to it until I discovered it on Netflix recently.

Well, I haven't missed much even though I have the feeling that I just lost almost three hours of my life.

On the upside there's a great setting, a really good production design and actors which are so professional that they don't look bored once.

The downsides are way too long monologs and dialogs and the overall feeling of stretching a movie too long. The film could easily have been done with half the runtime.

I've seen way worse movies, that's true, but on the other hand I've seen movies with more thrill that don't make you want to go to sleep half the time.

Could have been worse.

I don't get all the criticism and the negative feedback.

The movie takes it's time, for sure. Also the ending is a bit lame and the husband's actor has his share of over-acting.

On the other hand there's quite good acting from the stars down to the smallest supporting roles. Only the little girl could have been replaced by a dummy, because other than "Mommy, I'm scared!" there's not much contribution from her.

The sets are great for a period piece, the score fits perfectly and the whole film looks pretty good.

In terms of horror movies it sure lacks the scary part, but in comparison to all the other wannabe goosebumps-flicks it's on the winning side.

Could be worse.
