Rewind the '90s: Comedy Rebellion (2023)
How?
I don't get it. Make it make sense, please. How in the world are you going to go forty-five minutes regaling your audience with stories and anecdotes about comedians, and comedy shows and movies in the 90's, and not even one single time even mention the name Jim Carrey??? No clips, no photos, no headlines, absolutely nothing about the man who not only starred in the amazing In Living Color (some mentions of some Wayans should've happened too), but who also ruled the comedic box office from 1994-1999.
What a major oversight. Ridiculous and pathetic. If you don't like Jim Carrey for some odd reason, then at least mention the genius Robin Williams. Or since y'all have a thing for SNL people then something about Chris Farley or Eddie Murphy would've been nice. Sheesh, c'mon people. There were so many misses on this episode.
3 stars (instead of just 1 or 2) because you showed love to Living Single and Phat Tuesdays.
The Santa Clauses: No Magic at the Dinner Table! (2023)
I'm just wondering...
I think this second season of The Santa Clauses is going pretty decently so far. I'm enjoying Eric Stonestreet as Magnus Antas, and the whole Calvin clan is terrific as usual. Especially Tim Allen and Elizabeth Mitchell.
I'm not crazy about Cal's storyline, but he's an entertaining character, so I hope they can write something better for him.
It's interesting that Sandra is so powerful and is working on her powers with La Befana. They have a few good moments together, but I'm just wondering...
After Sandra accidentally turned the Easter bunny into an actual bunny, why didn't she just use her other powers (the original ones I think everyone has forgotten about at this point) to hear what the Easter bunny was coming there to warn them about??? Seems like quite an oversight from the writer's room.
Anyway, it's a silly, cute, funny show. Definitely not taking it too seriously. :)
What to Watch: 5 Top-Rated TV Pilot Episodes (2023)
LOST's pilot
I'm not sure if this video was meant to show the all-time top-rated pilots, or if they simply wanted to showcase particular shows, but if it's the former they forgot LOST. The LOST pilot has a 9.2/10 rating. It's easily one of the greatest pilot episodes (both part 1 and part 2) of all time, one that is absolutely gripping, mysterious, captivating, and full of complex and profound meaning. I was hooked within the first 4 minutes, and everyone to whom I've introduced the show (some 25-30 people) has said the same thing. They couldn't stop watching it either.
What a phenomenal tv show! 10/10!!!
Servant: Fallen (2023)
So good!
I really liked this series!! Outstanding tone. Great acting, particularly Lauren Ambrose, Rupert Grint, Nell Tiger Free, and Toby Kebbell (the dolls were pretty captivating as well, lol). Intriguing plot with twists and plenty of mystery and drama, even some dread. I thought it ended pretty well, especially the penultimate episode (the top episode of the whole series). Servant was a weird, slow yet steady, fairly consistent, sometimes creepy and sometimes even funny psychological piece of cinematic artwork. I'll give it an 8 out of 10 overall. (I also think this finale episode is an 8 out of 10 as well.)
