A classic
26 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What I say that hasn't been said about this amazing film. Every aspect is near perfection. Don't know why Spielberg decided on on element that is completely inaccurate. The bullets. Under water action. Unless almost on the surface they slow down to a crawl and are rarely deadly or even dangerous. Sloppy research that dishonors the many thousands who died taking that beach.

Brilliant with one exception.

Warning: Spoilers
Amazing movie. Really gives you a glimpse into mental health and how it affects the sufferer but more so their relationships.

My only gripe is in real life the people don't look so glamorous. Also often many don't experience a win like the characters do here. They get forgotten and in many cases live or die in misery. I get that that this would never play well with main stream audiences.

Regardless of that this is a real gem.

Wow! A reality show that's actually real!

So far no staged characters script. Just actual emergency situations and the folks that perform them. Makes sense it's a Canadian show.

We are honest and real! 😀🇨🇦

Despite all the bs its well worth the watch.

I really think reality tv is a scourge on the human race. This show has its share of scripted drama with fake outrage and family dynamics.

However the stuff they are being sold is just so cool and interesting. The amount of cash changing hands is staggering!

The bald owner is by far the highlight of the show and is actually genuine. His offers are very fair and upfront. He pays good money for some things he may have to wait years to resell.

Decent YA movie.

To be honest I only watched this because it has Saoirse-Monica Jackson from Derry Girls.

She plays a role not too far from hers in DG. She is a supporting character not the lead.

The plot is sweet and there is no offensive scenes. The scenery is Spectacular like one would expect in small town Ireland.

A classic of historical fiction.

I love this genre. Mostly factual but wrapped up in something worth a good night watching. In this case a love story.

The only sad part is reading how painful it was for the actors to work for its director. James Cameron!

Laugh out loud funny
11 November 2021
A really fun watch. Interesting they can make a whole 4 episode 4 season show of this subject matter.

Acting is fantastic and you can tell it was produced in the 2000's.

Barely a couple of minutes go by when we are not laughing out loud. Don't get the low scores.

This show is a winner. No No No No.... Yes! :)

I don't get the hate for this movie. I gave it an 8 just to raise the average.

I can watch this over and over.

The plot, acting and production is top rate. Paul. Giamatti in particular does an amazing job. Some of his lines about modern life are both hilarious and profound.

Ignore the reviews and enjoy a great movie and the magic and escapism that is karaoke.

The best TV series I've ever seen!
31 October 2021
When I saw a promo for this I was only half paying attention and my initial thought was wow even Michael Keaton has gotten into the streaming sh@t show!

Was I ever wrong! This is amazing. The fact that it's true is tragic.

You will be addicted!

Great gangster flick. Perfect length.
22 October 2021
Really liked this movie when I first saw it at the cinema. It has aged well.

All the right components make this an exceedingly good movie.

Kostner, Connery and Garcia are all excellent as is De niro.

Great mix of action and drama. Violent yes but not as bad as some with closeups etc.

The pace and score are also excellent.

Love the houses hate that they show so many houses that don't meet clients wishes!
21 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Lovely to look at charming even glamorous homes in the UK.

What I hate is every episode the clients are shown homes that don't meet the requirements they have asked for.

You would think when someone says they are willing to spend often more than 1/2 a million pounds they would be shown only houses that meet the brief. So many say no that and low and behold one of the 3 houses shown is a thatched!

Anyway it's great eye candy for homes and land. Also they always do a segment on local attractions or traditional trades or arts and crafts.

Could watch it a hundred time!

I've seen this excellent flick too many times to count.

Every aspect of it is pure perfection. The acting, writing, photography and direction.

This should be mandatory viewing in middle school. We need to try to get along. !!

Worth it for just the last part of episode 4 and all of 5!
7 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Husband cheats on wife she discovers it and sets about getting revenge. That's the premise of the whole plot. Lots of twists and turns even a brief reconciliation but alas it's not to be.

If you want to watch one of the best hour or so of a man squirming in utter emotional agony as his wife exposes him publicly then you can skip the series except for the later part of episode 4 and then watch 5. Brilliantly done Dr Foster. Hell hath no fury.......

Amazing for seeing UK country property.
23 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I used to live in England and this brings back some wonderful memories.

For US viewers you are in for a treat seeing some lovely houses and countryside. You will probably be a bit shocked at how expensive most of the properties are however especially that the seasons only run through 2016 or so. Imagine the cost now!

My main gripe with the show is the house hunters ( obviously) are asked their preferences for features etc and must haves and have nots Each episode the clients are shown 3 properties. On every episode they are shown places that don't meet the clients criteria sometimes in a critical way. Some examples. Folks will say they need a separate annex for an elder relative. Or they only want a separate detached house but they are shown a semi detached ( duplex or multi unit property which is much more common in the Uk btw). Then the rep shows them a property lacking what they had said is a must.

Despite that I still love the show as it's very laid back without much reality show hype. Also they always do a segment on some of the various locations standout attractions or historic business/ landmarks or traditions etc.

Downton formula simply doesn't work in this era.
20 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So cringeworthy in its attempt to make the Downton folks like it.

The formula doesn't work for the 1600 era.

Everyone is so clean and the language and mannerisms are more like the present day.

I'm sure there will be folks that see the great costumes and photography and love it. I'll pass. Just too plastic.

Great show.
12 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Really like this show. Beautiful locations remind me of the time I lived in England.

Also love that there is virtually no hype and drama. Just folks looking at homes usually at the high end. Also note the dates and imagine how high the prices are now!

Fun fact I kept seeing these strange looking ovens with covered cookers. Turns out they are cookers/ heating stoves made by Aga. Very high end stove heater in the UK costing 20k and up.

The only negatives of the show is the folks often tell the hosts must haves or have nots features yet they are still shown properties that have ( or don't) have them.

Also they often are shown properties above there stated budget.

Great show with no drama!
17 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Pretty much every show now has the inevitable back story over the top drama or mocking the contestants.

This is just a question and answer prize money show set in a ice cream bike in a park.

The theme for all the questions is food.

The first few questions are super easy then they get harder after the $160 mark.

You have to be kidding!
22 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is really, really bad. The concept of the moral dilemma is valid but it would never be played out in real time like this.

Maybe a documentary or Sixty Minute show on the whole topic.

The ridiculous inclusion of the micro camera in birds and bugs is comical.

How the makers convinced the A list actors is beyond me.

Just a really bad movie.

Don't dare to compare with original!
29 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's never a good idea to compare a new take on a series or book for that matter.

Both have their merits This series is much more polished in its production values.

The original has more charm but it must be said that the original does go downhill after series 3. Still decent but 1-3 are amazing.

Btw the reason you don't see anywhere near as much realistic procedures where you see the vets and animals in the same shot is due to law change. Recently their was a new law that limits what can be done to animals for entertainment value.

So I'm the original the actywere filmed ( under instruction real vets) doing real procedures and examinations.

This is not allowed anymore. When you see procedures in the new show it's close up's using very detailed fake body mass.

Both series deserve a watch.

Near perfection.
18 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Amazing writing, directing , acting and an epic score.

I don't get the negative reviews with perhaps the exception of the folks who compare it to the book. Never a good idea IMHO.

Fine performances by all especially Daniel Day. Very realistic fight scenes as well. All and all an epic film.

Only for the Welsh countryside.
12 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The setting of the Welsh countryside is the only redeeming aspect of this show.

The cabins are pretty but it's obvious they are made to be functional and are not keeping to the budget. Way too much talking by the hosts and not enough time spent on the buildings themselves. I suppose they don't show more due to them being the unrealistic structures they are.

Why not go the extra step and make it real? Who knows?

Skip this unless you want to see some really pretty scenery of a wonderful place that have had the pleasure of visiting in my youth.

Turned into a " cry" show...
3 April 2021
What a let down this has become. I don't know if deals are real or questionable as some have pointed out.

I do know however that it used to be most about the presentation and offers.

Now like almost everything on tv it has become what I call the " cancer" effect.

That's the label I use to describe how it has become mandatory for shows to outdo every other show by having the drama of the contestants ( sometimes host also) be the big story. They tell their personal sad stories to the folks watching who sit at home saying " so sad, inspiring etc etc.

Yuk. Not saying these are made up but to make it such a critical part of the show is becoming so overdone by everyone I'm finding less shows I can watch.

When will enough be enough? I'm reminded of a comedy sketch on SNL where there is a Japanese game show that if they get the wrong answer they have to have a finger cut off. Chris Farley plays a hilarious tourist from Green Bay who is called down from the audience to play. This sketch is old and there is a crime / horror movie of the same era that takes on this theme of glorifying violence for media.

Reality tv has become like these examples. It's become out of hand.

Three wishes

If the proverbial Genie gave me three wishes one would be the elimination of everything that ever had or ever will be to do with this show. Maybe even with only two wishes.

8 March 2021
This is not a movie that was ever going to go over with movie snobs aka IMDB users lol! Chances are you will see this for free on a streaming service. It's worth a watch if you are 50 plus years old. Great scenery in Scotland that will make you want to visit. Kathy Lee is a decent actress and pairs well with CF. Go ahead and give it a try.

Comedy? Not really after season 1
27 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I understand the rave reviews due to the plot twists and surprises etc. Not to mention the great acting, production value and amazing cinematography. Season 1 has some real funny parts and is worthy of the comedy-drama the show is billed as. From then on it's more of a drama of 2 highly dysfunctional families who are always telling secrets amongst themselves causing all sorts of problems and more disfunction. No one ever seems to learn to just keep it to themselves. So if you go into this knowing this fact and you can suspend disbelief you may get hooked.
