The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)
How do I say this?
Not knowing what to expect is the best way to view this movie. It's nuanced, hilarious, clever, fun and downright genuine. Very well written and directed, I must add. I don't know how anyone can watch this and criticize it either. It's too good and I love it to pieces.
Nic and Pedro have awesome buddy chemistry. Please tell me they are friends in real life. I watched the movie TWICE to fully appreciate the writing. Last night, viewing number 1, I laughed at literally everything. Tonight, I fully appreciated the depth of this Character driven film with a hook where two unlikely guys save the day. Oops spoiler alert. Watch this now ok!
The Cave (2005)
Very entertaining!
I thought to watch this as I was surfing prime and I'm glad I did. It was very mysterious and suspenseful, so much so I felt like I was watching a horror movie at times. I really am interested to know more about what it is they were looking for in the cave because I feel like I missed something. Strong acting by the cast and I enjoyed seeing this group of talent together. For me, the cast and suspense drove my desire to see this movie through to the end. Without saying too much, I will say I think it is written well enough for it to warrant a better than average rating, especially given the satisfying nature of the plot and the surprise ending.
Do Revenge (2022)
Too much Clueless for me
I had a hard time getting into this movie! The similarities to Clueless was just too much and it felt like it was mocking all the movies I liked during my teenage years.
There was so much I disliked and that didn't work; I don't know where to begin! The movie itself felt mean and degrading & so much of the humor fell flat.
I went into it with very little expectations, yet it still only delivered on a couple scenes. One hour in is the best scene with Sophie Turner and I don't even think you need to watch the prior hour for context!
Maya is great. She carried the plot and all the emotions. Can't say I was impressed with the movie and my opinion is one of indifference.
Defending Jacob (2020)
Great acting and writing, until the last episode
What a great series....until the end! Truly why did I watch this for such an unsatisfying and all too convenient outcome ?
Am I the only person that can't seem to find a decent Apple TV series.?
Like I said previously, the acting is great and writing but the last episode screwed it all up. I can't even watch it I, actually so annoyed !
I loathe how all these secret revelations come to life all for naught. It truly feels like I was cheated out of my precious time watching the entirety of the series!
At this point I'm adding words because it keeps saying my review is too short.....come on, that means this show cheated viewers!
Unbelievable (2019)
Stick around after the first episode!!!
The first episode is the most difficult to get through, but keep going. It gets better with each episode!
Fantastic writing and cast! Very well constructed structurally. Very impactful and meaningful storyline and the characters progress and it's wonderful to follow their individual stories and see how they each cope differently. Very satisfying ending!
The Batman (2022)
Not up to snuff
Of all the Batman films made, this is the one that is lacking the most.
The plot and script were rudimentary and clunky. Was there anyone editing script and storyline? I doubt it. Writers attempted to do too much with the mystery of The Riddler and draw out the case unnecessarily long.
Pattinson as The Batman was average. He nailed the look and he tapped into the darkness of Batman but there was no charismatic Bruce Wayne. Can probably partly blame story and script writers on this because it's possible Pattinson has the capability to be the dynamic Bruce Wayne/Batman.
I felt what really dragged the movie down was the overall tone and themes. There was no fun or humorous elements and it was far too dark for its own good.
The representation of The Penguin was different and he didn't seem like he really was The Penguin, but more of a mob boss. Again, writers are mostly responsible for this. Makes one question what their aim was in making this very inauthentic Batman movie.
As for Catwoman, it didn't work. The costume felt unfinished and Kravitz didn't have the personality of the Catwoman.
Kimi (2022)
Doesn't pull me in...
Very very slowly paced and boring. Nothing to see here that is really worth seeing. It's a bore.
Too bad too because with the director there is an expectation set going into this and it just doesn't cut it.
I didn't see any likeable characters, nor was I entertained. If anything I was annoyed.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Episode 7... YES 🙌🏼
After episode 6, I was sad because Luke was forcing Grogu to choose between his training and his Mando. Well, this episode blew me away, took me by total surprise and it's the best episode imho.
Waiting for more, of course! Great series!
Reacher (2022)
Absolutely Fantastic!
As a Reacher fan, I am thrilled by this series. Finally a man that looks how I always envisioned Reacher to look, and talks the way Reacher talks, and I really hope more seasons are in the works!
This was and felt true to Childs' writing and I believe I even saw a cameo of the author himself!
Love every minute of this series !
The Last Duel (2021)
Was hoping it'd be so bad that it would actually be good....
But overall it was terrible! Why did I watch that? What was the point?
If the point was to remind us of how barbaric people once were, success! But boy it barely entertained.
And the script/dialogue didn't always seem historically accurate. But artistic license I guess.
Storytelling in this style is too tedious too. Would rather get all their perspectives at once.
FBI: Most Wanted: Run-Hide-Fight (2021)
Find your bravery
Powerful episode! I was moved emotionally at several moments. Strength through unity. Fighting for family. Not giving in to fear. Teamwork. Strong themes worth teaching and learning.
Everyone in this episode was fantastic. Well done!
Little Women (2019)
Meh
Kind of annoying and boring. The use of nonlinear storytelling really is a drag here. Poor casting as well as there were no believable portrayals. I'm disappointed too because these are good actors normally. It must be the script and directing that is so poor here.
A Boy Called Christmas (2021)
Restoring Hope
I really enjoyed this film! Living in the modern world with all its issues and complexities can be a real downer, and what we need more of is hope. This movie leaves me with a feeling that there are some good humans and that there are still reasons to be grateful for this life.
Well written, well filmed and well acted. This has a timeless quality about it. I will watch this again! Great for family viewing with young ones!
CSI: Vegas (2021)
It is better than most shows but...
Strengths: return of original characters and clever one-liners. Character development of the originals. Hodges storyline.
Weaknesses: majority of the new cast. One dimensional and no chemistry. The rushed solving of their cases. I also need subtitles to understand Mandeep.
I'm not sure where this show can go once they resolve Hodges' case. The writing is so weak for everyone else.
Jungle Cruise (2021)
Quite campy
I was intrigued at first, but this movie was cheesy in the worst way possible. Dwayne Johnson is not convincing here. There was zero chemistry. It felt like a campy, buddy adventure. It was too long and I don't even think the children I know would like it.
Red Notice (2021)
Not much depth
Movies like this are for entertainment only. Cheap entertainment. I'm growing weary of Dwayne Johnson in movies. The last time I found Ryan Reynolds funny was in The Proposal. Gal is great but I'm not convinced by her acting. This does not warrant a follow-up.
No Time to Die (2021)
A bit of a downer really
This installment of Bond doesn't excite, thrill, or entertain me in the slightest. It was sad the entire time. A far cry from Bond films of yore. Discouraged by the direction Bond has gone and not sure what's to come.
Good Bones (2016)
I miss the beginnings....
The earlier shows, first 2-3 seasons, were fun to watch. There was more variety in houses and designs. The mother- daughter duo seemed to get along pretty well. I enjoyed Karen and her projects the most out of anything. Now they have minimized Karen and it was a gradual minimization, which means the show's quality has gradually gone down. Now that the daughter must be the center of attention and everything has to be her way or else, it's less enjoyable to watch. Her designs are the same every episode. There is no humor or fun in the show. I miss Karen, and I hope she's enjoying her retirement!
Cruella (2021)
Supporting cast shines
I am in the middle of the road for this one. Can't say it's a 10, nor can I rate it a low 1. I absolutely struggled through the first half of the movie. The script and plot are so terrible, and I thought it would not improve. What saved it for me were the supporting cast. The characters Jasper, Horace, and Artie, specifically, pulled me into the film. Those actors deserve more work!
As far as Disney live action films go, this one reimagined Cruella, and as a supposed prequel to our classic animated film, it certainly does not fly.
Val (2021)
Real and rare and true
Such a touching, beautiful, artistic, creative, and bold film. Val not only tells the Hollywood side of his story, but all the other sides that made him who he is. It all made him who he is, essentially. I admire his bravery to share himself so openly, honestly and boldly. I could wax even more poetic, but I think this film must be viewed to be appreciated. Thank you, Val. You are loved!
The Martian (2015)
Everything I Look For in a Movie
This movie is a great story and is well written and directed. The editing and cinematography is fantastic. The ensemble cast is strong with people you can get behind and cheer on. I always tune in when I see it on TV and it never lets me down. It helps take me out of this world and it's troubles... the perfect escape!
Thunder Force (2021)
Corny comedy
Everyone needs to calm down and quit being so critical of the leads. This is a decent corny comedy. Don't take it so seriously. It's a parody! Loosen up and chuckle at the stupid elements of the story.
Black Widow (2021)
Really enjoyable and strong film
Finally a solo Black Widow movie, and it's a very entertaining and strong installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The plot and interaction between the main characters is very solid. I like how it stands out. It's not your typical comic book movie. Worth it to see in the theater!
Loki (2021)
So boring and lackluster
For a show called Loki, this is a catastrophe. The plot is so uninteresting. Loki isn't even true to character. I have so little to say about this boring show. Stick to the movies. Marvel TV shows are lame and poorly written.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Meh
First of all I am loving reading all these mixed reviews and some of them are just way too long like this movie. There are numerous things that make this movie Completely and totally absurd.
Rather than break it down and write a lengthy review as it's already been done I will just say that this movie falls extremely short of expectations.
