Uneasy feeling keeps
This series is never gonna know how to make the viewers feel satisfied or filled. I see the plot tries to make it creepy, horrific, or scared -- but only in unsuccessful ways.
I'm surprised to see myself how many times to skip by 10 seconds just to avoid dull filler scenes and move on in hope of finishing each episode.
I do not argue the setting of this series is very well designed. Characters are mostly convincing and well positioned. The town is perfect for an interesting horror plot.
But, they are simply wasted in very inefficient ways. It is painful to see characters, either major roles or minor, acting abruptly stupid, losing mind and begin to cry, scream or kill himself or herself.
Alas, now I am at Season 2 ep 2.
Please wasting time and just focus on revealing the secret of this cursed town and how to make the folks get out of it. I mean isn't that the idea of this series?
Finch (2021)
I might have wanted this movie to be a post-apo Castaway.
I would have noticed this movie was made by Tom Hanks even if he himself did not show. The color, tone, and feeling well delivered throughout the movie that this is a Tom-Hanks-made one.
Anyway, I could not stop finding myself looking for some 'Wilson' - a sole non-human friend of Tom in this post-apo one man show. This time he had plenty of them thou. Man robot, dog robot, dog and him. That was a fantastic composition and I could expect a great things to come in the show. But, actually not quite as I imagined it to be. But, in the end, I think the minimalism concept in this drama was also good.
For All Mankind: The Sands of Ares (2022)
Mars. Disaster. And what?
Before getting deeper, I appreciate this ep made success to save this series out of soap pit. Looks like it managed to somehow survive the soap opera storm while navigating around a remote planet.
But, that said, it still leaves the viewers under the thick sand making them suffocating. Honestly is there any writer who can handle just the old cliche of 'disaster on a space exploration'?
I was expecting to see how things can get tense and bitter surrounding the liquid water under the ground of the red planet -- but without disaster and rescue mission. I mean this is simply boring and anybody can see what's coming.
Since this series has done so many great things previously, I still hoping to see what I really hoping it to come.
For All Mankind: Bring It Down (2022)
Some people never get better
For the end of the ep1 of this season, I think I have seen a very narrow possibility that the boy's future may actually turn out to be good to all. But it wans't the case this time. Sad.
When the timeline has set on 1992, while the main characters got old, the show needed new hero and heroin. The new generation those who will sit on the great legacy that were ready to be handed down from their fathers and mothers, or seniors.
It actually has been worked in that way at least at a couple of parts. Still, in doing so, the drama seems to have lost its taste -- how this show could satisfy the viewers so effectively and cleverly. The character building for the new ear is a total disaster for me.
Now all we see in this season is those good old days and that's long gone! Sad. Again.
For All Mankind: New Eden (2022)
the ship finally drifted on Mars
Since the end part of the season 2, the creepy storyline of Stevens brothers has gotten way too much then necessary. I personally understand the way their parents' abrupt death (which the country calls 'heroic sacrifice' with statue) would have dealt to the brothers back in the earth.
But... having sex with one' closest friend's mom plus keep stocking on her under shadow? Stealing the private video mail between a married couple in perpetual manner? Why do we need to watch these disgusting scenes?
What I understand is this series has been the one particularly appealing to those of viewers who wishing to feel the deep taste of an alternative history of great pioneers who have trodden path that never had been walked on by human race - some 'outer-world saga', not a meaningless soap opera.
So, please make a spin off if you wish to turn this space pioneer saga off the track and make it drama of hurt and sensitive people.
