Monster Hunter (2020)
Great fun but...
A great sword and sorcery job and great cgi and obviously good budget but colossal plot holes and no explanations, like why (???) in the first place (!), otherwise a hoot!
Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021)
Great film but the baddie?!?😆
We've all seen how the EU has conned Greece with irretrievable debt and turned it into a German satrap so one does really ask just who is the bad guy?? Go Greece!! Your bad guy, isn't! Just ask any Greek. OK ignore my politicising... and:
Also, Portofino is a tiny fishing village in a cleft of cliffs, no fast cars, no carriageway, nothing for cars but bad traffic on a single lane road. It's literally miniscule. However the shots of Portofino by boat were real...
The Furnace (2020)
Little background research.
The cameleers that came to WA were greatly regarded and respected after the 1880s Afghan Wars for their courage and were not discriminated against at all. Before road traffic in the Pilbara the camels were a vital part of supply and extremely well treated. This is a woke revision.
Bear in mind nowadays the only wild camel herds in the world are in WA in the Great Simpson Desert after they were let go in the 1910s when motors arrived and those Afghans settled into the community as well regarded citizens.
A story is a story, fine, but stories that warp fact aren't acceptable. My family has been up there since 1895 and benefitted then from the cameleers from Broome to Perth. They were highly regarded and honoured.
Blithe Spirit (2020)
Replacing the irreplaceable?
The original Noel Coward was elegant and in its era, and why try to replace it? Condamine by Rex Harrison was inimitable and I felt that, with all the legendary support in the world, making him a Private Walker style con man didn't work for me.
How the West Was Lost (1987)
Involved
Pilger accused my Grandfather in this documentary of being a slave owner on De Grey Station which we owned since 1912. The Aboriginal Lands Trust with Macleod, a communist, had bought Strelley next door along with Warralong and others and accused my grandfather of only paying the aborigines A£1 6shillings a week. In fact he was paying A£2 13shillings a week over 19million acres across Australia.
This rubbish went on for three years across the whole of Australia known as the Aborigines Strike.
Eventually Harold cut the wages back to A£1 6shillings and the whole country went back to work.
Such was Macleod.
Avanpost (2019)
Ending.
Great but ending is utter "omg". Is that spoilers?
Locked Down (2021)
Great for the budget and great talent.
However there's no Portland Street in West London as claimed on your location services, you normally get a bit of a London tourist run on films from London but this isn't nor are the houses.... small point as enjoyed the film immensely!
