Hellraiser (2022)
1/10
How can anyone enjoy this pile of s....?
12 December 2023
Not only is this a boring shameless cash crab, it's also so unbelievably vague and nonsensical, that I almost wanted to stick pins in my own head, to escape this absolute crap fest.

If I have to say one small positive thing about this movie, is that the last few minutes of what happens to Roland, was pretty awesome, but 30 seconds doesn't make up for 120 minutes of what this predictable non-scary slumber party for 4th graders turned out to be.

I don't care that all 80's movies are remade with a female cast, but why did Pinhead have to sound like an old man out of breath? Why did her side kicks have to look like a clicker from Last Of Us or someone who's had her skin made into an umbrella?

I went into this with no expectations, and yet I was disappointed.

This remake is worse than the remake of Blair With and The Craft, and that's saying something, and to think it was produced by Clive Barker, is just unreal. Didn't he used to say he hates Hellraiser, and regrets making them and called them "the fans' movies" because he rejects them? Well, then stay away, Clive, and let others make an enjoyable movie instead of making another horrible Hellraiser experience.

Totally hooked and I want more!
9 December 2023
This is probably the first film I've watched, where I actually said "Nooo" out loud when it ended, because I wasn't ready for it to end.

At first I felt disappointed, because what was the meaning of it to end there, after such a massive build up? I felt like I was kept in the dark, as if the producers intentionally did this to have a go at me, but after a few minutes of thinking, I came to the realisation, that even though it felt like the movie was just getting started, my focus has been at the wrong thing the whole time.

I have probably watched hundreds of movies about societys apocalypse, and what they all have in common is, that they show what happens after the bang, and how we behave in that kind of world.

This movie takes us through the long slow journey of what happens up until the bang, all while showing it to us in glorious camera shots, an amazing sound scape and a creepy slow sense of suspense.

There are some epic shots of disasters, as expected, but it's not what this movie is about. It's about the creepy feeling of knowing something is not right, without knowing what's going on.

I was pleasantly surprised about how well put together this movie is, and for what happens after the credits start rolling? I think you can imagine what happens, and that is exactly what they want you to do. Keep the story going in your mind, and make it your story. Use your imagination. You don't need another movie showing you humanitys collapse.

It felt like a part 1 of a series, which I really hope to be true, but if not, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie from the first minute to the last, and I hope you did too.

Oppenheimer (I) (2023)
9/10
Deserves the hype!
23 August 2023
I took a spontaneous decision and went to watch this before the internet spoiled it completely, and I was, pardon the pun, blown away.

Many people complain that there's too little explosion, and too much Oppenheimer, and to that I say, look at the name of the movie.

Christopher Nolan created not only a masterful biopic with all the ups and downs they went through, but also skillfully executed how hard it was for the scientists to live with the fact, that they were making a weapon of mass destruction that would kill hundreds of thousands of innocent people, but also depicted the necessity of how they had to do it, before the enemy did it.

At several times I held my breath because of how intense the movie was, and that was a very good experience as a movie goer.

The switch between black and white (documented events) and color (undocumented events) played out very very well.

Do yourself a favor, and go watch this absolute masterpiece.

Forgettable
23 May 2023
The only movie I've ever wanted to walk out on, if I weren't watching it with a friend.

The next few weeks after watching it in the theatre, I couldn't even remember what happened in the movie, because it's so extraordinarily horrible and irrelevant, that my brain didn't seem to want to remember, which is pretty unusual because I remember movies, video game plots and even phone numbers from when I was a teenager. Heck, I remember a Win98 key to this day, but this sinkhole of an idea of "entertainment" wasn't even worth remembering a thing about.

But please, indulge yourself, if you have a few hours of your life, that you'd rather throw away than, say, play with your kids, watch paint dry or whatever floats your little boat :)

Scream VI (2023)
1/10
The Wish version of Scary Movie
22 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I remember the first Scream movie. The plot was thin, the acting wasn't that good, but that was okay, because it was in the early days of "anyone in the close friend group can be the killer" type movies, so it was forgiven for it's weak points.

Now, this garbage is an absolute insult to the franchise, because the creators must think the audience are total morons.

Here's what the writers thinks I'm stupid enough to believe:

1. A cop dad loses his homicidal son, and trains his two remaining children to become psycho killers who enjoy murdering people they've pretended to be friends with, all while cop dad is plotting a revenge so convoluted that when the big revelation comes, it's just laughably stupid.

2. Main characters can get stabbed numerous times and survive, and in some cases doesn't even flinch afterwards, while the rest is killed like flies.

3. No one can hit anything with a gun, unless it's the killer. Seriously, not even the New York convenience store clerk with a shotgun, can hit a person from five feet away. Killers outrun bullets, like writers run from responsibility to the audience.

4. The investigative journalist Gale Weathers is so brilliant she discloses the location, that even FBI can't find, but she didn't discover that cop dad bad guy rented the place and just put two college students names on the lease as his cover.

5. The voice modulator is also a dialect modulator, because not only is the voice the same, but the pronunciation is also exactly, no, I mean, EXACTLY the same no matter who uses it.

This movie is total garbage. Do not waste your time or money on this, and I feel sad for the cast who did well, and wanted to make a good movie, because no matter how good they did, it will always be junk because of the cash grabbing studio and writers.

Troll (2022)
10/10
What a blast!
6 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Alright, let's get some stuff straight.

Yes, the humans handle it really stupidly by refusing to acknowledge that they're dealing with a troll, even though trolls are a solid part of Scandinavian folklore. That's just moronic.

Yes, the military are always stupid drones.

Yes, politicians always act too strongly about stuff they don't understand, and don't wish to learn about. "It's big and scary, so it's an enemy and we should kill it".

Yes, it's weird that Sigrid can hack a 5th generation fighter jet, but hacking a phone is almost impossible.

Buuuuuut...

I love movies where giant creatures slap the living hell out of humanity. Even better when it's Scandinavian giant creatures, as I'm danish and we have such a rich culture and folklore in our small part of the world. We were once connected with nature on a deep level, so sometime it's nice to be reminded of that, when the troll king is smashing Oslo to bits.

I love that they tip the hat to movies like Trolljegeren, Jurassic Park and Godzilla.

I love that Nora understands the troll king. She sees that he's not a thoughtless killer, but a lonely troll who lost everyone he loved. He proves it by saving the kid Viktor in the amusement park. He doesn't want to kill, but if you dangle church bells around him, you're asking for it.

I love that the troll hates christianity. It fits folklore and christians did come here and wrecked havoc, so... don't mess with the troll king.

I love that I felt so sorry for the troll king. So much, in fact, that I got emotional at the end. Humans take everything for granted, because we kill everything that's in our way, and when there were no giant animals left to conquer, we started killing our selves.

Oh man, what a complete blast it was to watch this movie. I enjoyed it all, even the silly human stuff.

I love this movie!

All tempo, no drive
4 August 2022
It's funny how Hollywood (you know what I mean) has a deep desire to translate foreign mythologies to film. Maybe it's because the land of Hollywood doesn't have any mythologies if their own, or, put the people with mythologies in reservations and gave them casinos to make them mind their own business.

Anyway, Hollywood seems to really like mythologies, but not enough to pay some respect and get stuff right.

Greek mythology? We won't hire a single Greek person to star in this.

Norse mythology? Let's get an international cast, without any Scandinavians, though.

They're in it for the action, but not for the story telling, and that's a damn shame.

I paid a buck for this in a second hand store. Still wrapped on blu-ray, and after watching it, I think it was overpriced.

Freedom at last
6 June 2022
I've never been a fan of Disney movies proposing animals have the human level of cognitive abilities, so this movie have always seemed off to me, in a way I couldn't put my finger on. Just this feeling creeping down my back, that something is up with that dog.

Then in comes John Oliver, and puts hits finger where it belongs, and the creeping feeling suddenly became better. Like a darkness was lifted from my mind and finally rays of sun and warmth can enter.

Ta, John. If it wasn't for your fingering, I'd still be in an Airbud induced conundrum that was my life and reality.

Disney - Exploiting and demystifying cinematic universes for mon... we mean, your pleasure.

They buy a franchise, squeeze every single drop out of it, until they've drained it for every little thing, that makes it magical.

Rinse and repeat.

As a Scandinavian, this is an insult to our rich Norse history.

Vikings and their gods are fantastic lore. The Norse mythology is full of amazing stories, with deep relations and mind blowing wisdom.

What did marvel do? Made it into a story about the blonde buff guy with a cool hammer, bickering with his power hungry brother with daddy issues.

Beyond stupid
11 May 2021
I've been to Chernobyl and Pripyat, and they didn't even try to make it look like the real power plant or city at all! Palm trees around the amusement park.. The amusement park doesn't have signs as if it's a permanent installation.

I like the show, even though it's often ridiculous, but this episode takes the cake.

Absolute crap
27 February 2021
I've never played the Monster Hunter games, and I hate this garbage movie.

I've had a crush for Milla since 5th Element, but Paul Anderson is ruining her for me.

Paul, if you read this, please never make a movie again.

On behalf of the world, thanks.

Emotional rollercoaster
24 April 2020
One moment you're laughing at the jokes, that are either dry, harsh or exactly what you wish you'd say in a similar situation. Next you're crying, from the extremely real emotions Ricky can portray.

I whole heartedly love this show, every single second if it.

Barely worth a watch
8 April 2020
When I saw the poster for this, I thought it was a joke. Then I got a chance to watch it and man, I almost turned off the TV. The first 13 minutes, before the animation, is so horrible and hard to watch, but the movie picks up after the animation starts.

To be fair, there are some genuinely funny moments, and the animation is really well done, but the story is very predictable and the songs are so out of place, you would think they only added them, to sell a soundtrack.

All in all, it's a decent movie, but dont expect to be mind blown.

Uninteresting and tries too hard.
1 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Of course Lowrey has a son.. Of course Burnett is overly religious, and afraid of his wife.

This while movie is predictable, unoriginal and just a ridiculous cash grab.

The one liners are stupid, Martin Lawrence lost his acting skills, the plot is lame and he has a son now? That's Hollywood's most used excuse for sequels.

Don't even bother..

Crazy, bloody fun!
1 April 2020
This is not a deep movie, so don't take it too seriously.

While it might lack some fine polishing, its abundance of blood, action and over the top-ness, makes up for the dialogue, and whatever else people complain about.

Listen, this is not a Scorsese masterpiece, so take your top hat off, sit back and enjoy a fast paced shooter, that doesn't aim for an Oscar.

Listen up, screwheads..
5 November 2019
People need to toughen up, and realise that the opening scene is a key part of the story, and not only that, but is a welcome breath of fresh air in all the disneyfication and also throws a huge middle finger to the last three horrible sequels. The opening ties T2 and Dark Fate together, and if you cry because you're hurt, then deal with it. It fits the story, and that's all that matters.

The movie isn't perfect, but it is a hell of a lot better than the other poor excuses that tried to be sequels.

There are only three true Terminator movies, and that is T1, T2 and Dark Fate.

Good, but rushed.
22 October 2019
I liked the movie very much, and it was a lot of fun watching the Pokemon "in real life" with fur and all. The kids absolutely loved it!

It does feel a bit rushed, as if they didn't know if they will be able to make a sequel, so they cramped too much in there.

I would love to see this universe explored much more, maybe a TV show. I definitely want more of this!

Intense and creepy slow burner.
31 July 2019
Midsummer is a fantastic film, that creeps under your skin and stays there. Don't expect slashy horror and jump scares. It's slow paced, and as the plot evolves, you'll love that tempo instead of a rushed story.

The story is at one point easy to digest. We've seen cult movies before, but at another point it's so unique because these are not evil people pretending to be nice. The are living people with old traditions.

It's going to take a few days to really comprehend it, and I absolutely recommend seeing it with someone, with whom you can talk about the movie afterwards.

One caveat. The runes are a complete mess. Some are mirrored, some doesn't exist, rules of magic runes are broken, etc.. They should have hired a runic consultant, instead of, what seem like, they just made it up on the spot.

The artwork and set detail is astonishingly amazing, and that alone takes it a point up, to 9/10 for me.

Absolutely gorgeous.
4 June 2019
The animation is stunning, the stories are great and many of the episodes could easily adapt into full TV shows. Maybe not the episode with the intelligent yoghurt, that was pretty out there, but again, I'd be curious enough to see where it goes. Very very recommendable!
