Very disappointing
6 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I had no idea this was a Stephen King movie until after I watched it and then decided to look up some information about it. So maybe the book or the short story is better. But the movie the first half of it while the old man is still alive is epic and had this movie stayed this way just telling of age story of kid who read stories to a billionaire this movie might have been my favorite I have seen on Netflix so far.

. Except there is the second half which for me really where the story starts to break apart and loose almost all of the great story telling of first part. A lot of due to seemingly unnecessary adding of supernatural elements to a story that really didn't need it. Maybe those parts were better done in the book or short story but for the movie they just distracted and took away from a lot of the other relationships and character interaction of that made the first part great. It broke the story down to be almost too fantastic to really be relatable. Then you follow that up with the lame confusing ending where by this point I was glad to see the movie end to move on with other things in life. I would say by the time it was over I felt like I had wasted my entire 2 hours watching this with no real pay off at the end. So I recommend a avoiding this and spend your time else where.

Wow!! Was Not Expecting That!!
17 June 2022
This movie appeared on my home screen of my Paramount app and I clicked on it without looking it up or doing any research which is unusual for me because usually before I watch any movie I want to know what other people thought of it so I don't waste my time on a stinker. But I rolled the dice with this one and watched it without looking at the reviews first or knowing anything about it at all. The payoff on this was big. Because within the hour and 36 minutes that this film is in length is one of the sweetest most human comedies I've seen in years. Well up there with some of my more memorable favorites like patch Adams or Batteries Not Included. This is one of those movies that will stick with you long after the credits have rolled. And definitely one of the best movies about the golden years that have come along in a long time maybe even since bucket list. I would highly recommend not missing this movie it is well worth the time and it's a great movie to watch if you're depressed because it will lift your spirits by the end. Because even though the story is about lottery tickets at the heart of it it's more of a movie about human relationships and have one man's act of kindness can change an entire town.

Total Recall (I) (2012)
7/10
Better than the original
14 April 2021
I remember when I was a young adult I would collect certain DVDs that I would consider kind of mind blowing and not your mainstream typical Hollywood movie. And I bought the original Total recall on DVD because I thought it was unique in original and kind of mind blowing. I really like that movie so when this came out I avoided it because I felt like I didn't need another Total recall in my life already had the original one and it was pretty dang good. Well now flash Forward to 2021 during quarantine in the pandemic and having a little bit more time on my hands not going out as much I decided to watch the remake because lately I've been on a Philip k dick movie binge right in the last several days I've watched several of the movies they made off of his stories. So I decided to give this one a try after a couple of reviews on here said it was a different take on the same story then the original Arnold Schwarzenegger one was.

It was very different from the original movie. Almost like a completely separate movie. The original if I remember correctly cuz it's been years since I've seen it now took place on Mars this movie takes place entirely upon Earth. The story gets a lot more in-depth even though the original had a good story to it I think this one story is better. This one dies much more into the resistance and it feels like there's a lot more character development than what I remember being in the original movie. Also this one feels like a more finished Hollywood production the original feels more like well I guess your typical '90s action movie but it felt kind of b rated compared to this movie. The way the cities and the cars and just the aesthetics of the movie to make you feel like you were in a futuristic world just seemed a lot better realized in this movie than it did in the original. That being said after watching this when I plan to go back and watch the original again just to see if I'm remembering it correctly in my head or if the things I liked in the remake the original did as well. But even the ending to this movie was a lot more satisfying than the ending in the original movie. Overall if I was going to choose just one to buy now it would probably be the 2012 version not the Arnold Schwarzenegger version. Because I do think this was a better movie.

Good Dark Short Film With a Major Plot Hole
9 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
**possible spoilers**

Plot hole is first scene inside their house where you see the husband and wife with the 2 robbers tied up the husband is literally holding the phone with the video the woman robber took of him accidentally killing the cop while trying to get the cop off him. The video from the story seems to exist only on her phone and the he is holding it. But for whatever dumb reason he just doesn't erase it right on the spot because that is the only piece of evidence linking him to the death of the cop and with it gone every thing that happens never needs to happen. Plus if I had access to erase evidence to stop me from going to jail why wouldn't I? That is the plot hole that kind of killed it for me and kind of made the rest of the movie pointless.

The acting was done well and I absolutely loved the humor and character of the woman robber. She was freaking hilarious.
