Sense & Sensibility (2024)
A really lovely movie!
Great acting, beautiful costumes, amazing scenery -- Hallmark obviously spared no expense with this film. I especially loved the leading ladies. My favorite part was that I could understand every single thing that happened in each scene. I've watched other Sense and Sensibility films and this one just made the storyline so easy to follow yet the language used still made it very obvious that it was a period piece. I think for people who have not been exposed to the story before, they will be able to enjoy it and maybe get interested in reading the book, other Jane Austen works, or just some 19th century English literature. I'm not sure what people are expecting from Hallmark, but this went way above my expectations. It is really a lovely movie!
Round and Round (2023)
One of the best movies Hallmark has put out!
This movie was sharp, well-written and fun, with lots of really smart twists, turns and comments by the characters. I am going to have to watch again just to catch all the great little references sprinkled throughout. The script-writing at a much higher level than the usual Hallmark fare and the filming also seemed to be much higher quality. The cast was well-chosen. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters and the side characters were great, especially the two older ladies and the sci fi friends. Honestly, I am a huge Hallmark watcher and this is one of best movies they've made, definitely in the top 10. More like this, Hallmark -- please!!!
Take Me Back for Christmas (2023)
FANTASTIC Hallmark movie due to Vanessa Lengies' acting
I have watched a million Hallmark movies and this one is really a step above the rest, almost completely due to the acting job of Vanessa Lengies who was brilliant in this movie. Since you know that the main characters are already in love from the beginning of the movie, you wonder how they are going to make a been-done-many-times-before Hallmark plot feel fresh. But Vanessa does it! Really, really worth watching. Corey Sevier always does a decent job, but Vanessa steals the show, perfectly nailing every emotion in every scene and making the fantasy plot seem absolutely plausible. I also loved that there were some other plot lines going on, especially the mother-daughter one; Paula Boudreau was AMAZING in the role as the mother, by the way. I will be keeping this movie on DVR and watching again!
A Very Merry Mix-Up (2013)
One of my favorite Hallmark movies!
Love the main characters -- all of the acting is great! Sentimental in just the perfect way. Was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I even watched it twice!
Romance in the Air (2020)
Worst script of a Hallmark film ever
I hope the writer of this movie doesn't read this, but IMO it was the worst Hallmark script ever. Literally nothing went on the entire movie so each scene was them saying the same things over and over: Would she stay at her job or not? How did she feel about her job? Did she love marketing? And then she would answer both yes and no over and over. It was PAINFUL to watch. Also, there was absolutely no chemistry between the two leads. And there were no scenes where there was even the opportunity to build the chemistry. So little romantic tension that, for the first time ever watching a Hallmark movie, I was thinking she should just stay with her first boyfriend! The only reasons I finished watching it were because I like Cindy Busby (she looked uncomfortable the whole movie, poor thing) and because the scenery was beautiful. Oh, and well I kept thinking it had to get better because it could not stay this bad. But it did. Just really, really disappointing.
