Orpheus' Song (2019)
Great Romcom!
First things first, let's talk about those locations. Chef's kiss Seriously, they deserve an Oscar just for finding those breathtaking backdrops. And don't even get me started on the eye candy that is the cast. We're talking cute actors serving looks hotter than a summer day in Greece.
Now, onto the acting. Imagine two gay guys trying to play it straight. It's like watching a game of "hide the rainbow" that's so on point, it's practically a tutorial. And their chemistry? Honey, it hit like a ton of bricks in the best way possible. I'm talking whirlwind romance that'll leave you questioning if you accidentally wandered into a rom-com fever dream.
But let's not forget about the comedy, because this movie had me cackling like a hyena on laughing gas. From the girlfriend turned dominatrix to the flower crown fiasco that would make even Martha Stewart cringe, it's a riot. And her sudden transformation into a discount sex worker? Girl, I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.
So, if you're in the mood for sass, laughs, and more unexpected twists than a pretzel factory, "Opheo's Dream" is your golden ticket. Just buckle up and prepare for a wild ride that's sassier than your grandma's Sunday hat.
Heartstopper (2022)
The teenage love homophobia took from us
It's cheesy, childish, full of cliches and I would even dare to say quite sexist. Roles are stereotyped, the masc guy behaves like the "man" and the fem one as the "woman". I would find the show horrible if they were a straight couple, but it was a shameful experience to see that I enjoyed like a kid. It's a gift to all our broken teenagehoods that were stolen by the lgbtphobic society we live in.
I was bullied for being too fem, or "gay", sometimes even punched. But none of that is as painful as looking back to my teenagehood where I was closeted, scared and alone. The biggest act of homophobia for me was that the closest I got to experience love was being in love with my straight best friend.
This show brings a small fantasy that reminds all of us that we all deserved this kind of story, this kind of love, and we all deserved to be as cheesy, and basic as anyone else.
Jonas Brothers Family Roast (2021)
Not funny
"Thank you Netflix, this was awesome" I would say 12 years ago when I was 13 and the JB was a thing. They forgot their fans are most likely over 25 now, and the childish Disney channel's humour would not land at all now. After the first 5 minutes when you get used to the fact that the 3 of them and their wives are super hot you realize that you are wasting your time.
