Far From Realistic
22 July 2021
At best, mediocre, and that was a gift. The plot was puerile. Gratuitous violence kept the film from sinking.

When Character was King
3 July 2021
An attorney, Rob Billot, guided my old school ethics, promised a farmer of modest means he would help him. Billot's promise to the farmer placed his career, family, and his life in jeopardy. Very, very few men would've have lived up to the promise Billot made to the farmer. Billot was a soldier of esteemed valor who literally went to war on a deadly battlefield contaminated with deadly toxins with an enemy that had caused indiscriminate deaths of men, women, and children.

This movie revealed the rampant corruption within USDOJ, the most corrupted bureaucracy in the world. A lower caste American chops down a tree on hs property without government's approval, and a pettifogger at USDOJ will put him in prison. Those within America's immune caste can commit and has committed second degree murder with impunity. DuPont KNEW for decades that its toxic waste was killing people, yet it continued to negligently dispose of it with USDOJ immunity. DuPont's executives who knew it was causing deaths were able to successfully use the Nuremberg law to avoid prison time.

Billot was as courageous as our bravest Medal of Honor soldiers. He did battle with one of America's largest criminal cartel corporations and with the thoroughly corrupted USDOJ.

Thank God Billot is a man of honor and character, rare traits and far more rare among wakes of buzzard lawyers, for he saved incalculable number of lives. Billot deserves the civilian version of the Medal of Honor.

Kelly Reilly is Invaluable
19 June 2021
Without Kelly Reilly, "Yellowstone" would be tarnished. Reilly plays Beth Dutton like Clint Eastwoon played Dirty Harry.

If Beth dies, "Yellowstone" will die.

Adversity v Character
19 June 2021
This movie perfectly revealed that men of excellent character will not compromise it regardless of most austere adversity.

This film ranks with "Rush" as the greatest sports films.

Emilia Clarke Capativates
19 June 2021
Emilia Clarke transformed what otherwise would've been a mediocre movie in to a much better movie. Clarke, whom might be the best actress in film, seizes viewers' attention.

British Aristocracy Meets British Commoner
5 May 2021
Will Traynor saw in Lou Clarke authentic charm and honesty, traits he often did not see in aristocracy. She devoted her life to supporting her mon, dad, sister, nephew, and grandfather sacrificing her dreams to do so. Will resolved to assure that Lou's dynamic personality would be deprived of her potential.

It's a movie about impeccable character shared by Will and Lou.

Joel Kinnaman is an excellent actor. His role in "The Informer" was best actor superb.

It's a thrilling action film meshed with elevated intellect. The protagonist avoided violence, yet when unavoidable, he acted with extreme prejudice. His advanced knowledge accorded him ability to anticipate moves of adversaries that facilitated his survival.

An Angel of Love
14 March 2021
Would an angel risk his immortality for a woman with whom he fell in love?

The movie will provoke deep introspection about life and God. We all endeavor to extend our temporal lives without losing our souls.

John Wayne's Magnum Opus
14 March 2021
A western adaptation of "Mutiny on the Bounty", this classic displayed frequent moral dilemmas. Dunson was right in that his cowhands signed a contract for service in exchange of agreed upon consideration. However, it was Dunson who broke the contract.

John Ford allegedly said that he didn't know Wayne could act until he saw "Red River". It was Wayne's best performance as an actor in a leading role. He deserved an Oscar for his performance. His numerous transitions as Tom Dunson from desperate rancher, to psychotic, to revengeful, and finally regaining sanity was played perfectly.

The Prototype
14 March 2021
James Bond is the high intensity action franchise that defines all others within that genre. None of the other have come close to achieving success that shrouds James Bond.

"Skyfall" superbly melded old school methods with new school digital technology.

I would have given "Skyfall" a 10; however, James Bond seems to be following followers; e.g., "John Wick". Fantastical and extremely unrealistic scenes undermined the otherwise sublime confluence of old school and new school synergy. Its ending bordered on science fiction.

Sabrina (1995)

When Character was King
14 March 2021
I appreciate movies with distinguishable morality: exemplary v. evil with exemplary prevailing. It might be the prototype of such movies.

I would have given this film a solid 10 but for miscasting Harrison Ford. I have no clue -other than politics- of why Julia Ormand wasn't awarded an Oscar for best actress.

Sabrina was as close to perfect as a mortal could be. Ford was depraved and rushing headlong in to sociopathy. Sabrina couldn't have cared less for money. She was of highest honor and purest integrity. Her father had modeled most esteemed character traits for her. Linus had billions, but lacked what money could never buy: respect earned from demonstrably positive character traits. She didn't need Linus. He needed her.

Misplaced Priorities
14 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is a sports movie that exposed consequences of personal behavior. All of his life, Chapel was consumed by baseball. By happenstance, he met Jane, an unrecognized champion. Before him, Jane was vastly superior to any sports recognition. J. Giles Band's "Musta Got Lost" would have been a perfect score for this movie, for Chapel made a game out of loving Jane, couldn't see love coming, but he did see it go. Realizing his stardom as an elite professional athlete wasn't what Jane wanted, Chapel knew she was whom he needed. You'll have to watch the film to see if a perfect game (most difficult feat in team sports) would have been sublime if Chapel had his priorities properly organized.

The Greatest Movie of All Time
6 March 2021
One would have to know the true history of the "Civil War" to appreciate this movie. I placed parenthesis around civil war because congress never declared war. The writer obviously had accurate knowledge of Lincoln's war.

I'll leave you contemplate this: had the South won, Lincoln, Sherman, Grant, Sheridan, et. al would have been hanged as egregious war criminals. Ironically, Jefferson Davis, who had inherited slaves, immediately freed them. Davis and Robert E. Lee had openly condemned slavery as immoral. Lincoln supported a constitutional amendment that would have made slavery constitutional.

It's impossible to refute primary source documents.

An Excellent Cop Movie
5 March 2021
This film shared very little in common with "Heat".

The palpable stress conveyed by Big Nick O'Brien revealed an avalanche of stress descending upon him. Big Nick O'Brien's dedication to his profession destroyed his personal life. Intelligence and malice of the criminals he was after forced him in to ethical dilemmas and Hobson's Choices.

The All-Time Greatest Athlete: Muhammad Ali
5 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
For many reasons, the Foreman v Ali bout was the greatest sporting event in history. There have been better fights, but no greater sporting events.

Sports should be devoid of politics.

This documentary was mediocre at best due to demonstrable and abject lack of boxing knowledge of sportscasters and writers. Ali was appeared confident before the bell signaling the start of the first round. Ali was in control of the entire fight. I've never believed Foreman won a single round. And no, Ali was never afraid of Foreman. Ali had done his homework. His superior athleticism and intellect accorded him an insurmountable advantage.

It would have been a much better documentary had it included interviews of knowledgeable boxing experts. Sportscasters and writers, unless they have been athletes in sports they're covering, are usually clueless.

Greatest Sports Movie of All-Time
5 March 2021
A riveting and dynamic movie depicting the deadly sport of Formula One. It has one of the most poignant scenes of all movies. At the beginning of the last race, Lauda waved to Hunt. Hunt's response was to salute Lauda; salute being the ultimate gesture of respect.
