Night Court (2023)
Why Did They Remove Neil??
I'm a fan of the 80s-90s Night Court, and was skeptical of this reboot. But it's not so bad after all, and John Larroquette is the reason why. He was a riot on the old one, and he's a riot in this one too. In fact, he's the funniest of them, and seems to have aged like fine wine. Glad he came on board.
I only wish they hadn't made Abby Stone, Harry's daughter as it seems too contrived a link to the previous show. Maybe a nephew or some distant relative would have been preferable.
And lastly, why did they take Neil (Talwalker) off the second season, huh?? Why isn't anyone talking about this? He wasn't THAT bad. What was so wrong with him, and what's so special about the "replacement"? Nothing! If it's the obvious difference, I find it sadly disturbing, and for that reason reduced my rating to a 2, from an 8. And the 2 is for the format, and John Larroquettem, or I was giving it a 1. I say that with all due respect to Nyambi, who's doing alright.
Password (2022)
Sorry Producers, this "Update" the classic does not work!
True Story: I was down with a head cold. Instead of retreating to my bedroom, I lay down on the couch with my back to the TV. Turning the volume to a level 2 or 3, I dozed off into deep sleep. Then I was awakened by repeatedly screechy chipmunk sounds from the television. Initially I tolerated it, but it kept grating on me. I wondered if I had accidentally tuned to a juvenile cartoon show. With some effort, I turned around to check on the offensive sounds.
Then I saw it, for the first time! It was an episode of the current "Password." Not only was it offensive to the ear, the host's fashion sense was unbelievably preposterous! I sought out the remote. Finally reaching it, I muted the show, but left the channel on as I dozed off again with my back to it. I intended to share with my wife what I had just witnessed. On her return, we sat dumbfounded at the absolutely merciless attack on the viewer - I suspect done purposely for "shock value." Apparently to underline "that was then" and "this is now," so get with the new stuff! I get that "Password" may need an update. But what I witnessed that evening was shockingly mediocre. The screechy hosts attire and repulsively loud glasses, got my head pounding again, and I quickly turned it off.
The week after, feeling better, I decided to give it another go. Maybe I was too judgmental, and sick, the previous week. Unfortunately, not. The loud unfunny, screechy nonsense, the insultingly loud attire and glasses brought the headache right back, and I gave up. I'm never watching this drivel again, unless they change the host or send her to behaviors school. Sorry producers, you have your work cut out for you. We don't like it one bit.
Ghosts (2021)
Pretty Good, and Please Stop Comparing with the British Version
This show is not bad at all. Interesting stories, and some hilarious situations. People keep comparing it to the original British version. I wish they'd not do that. This is the United States, and British stuff would not pass here. Different environment and sense of humor. Each version has its place. I've seen the British version and think its okay ........ for that country. And I speak as a big fan of British TV. I've grown up with British TV since the late 60s, but some of it would not pass for the general American audience without some tweaking - which is what's been done here. And we have a great finished product that works just fine for us. So, once again, stop comparing and putting it down!!
United States of Al (2021)
Cut the nonsense regarding Al's background and enjoy the show for what it is
All those saying "Indians don't look middle eastern" or "Indians don't appear Afghan" have no idea of the size of the Indian population, or the incredible variety of people who make up that country. Even if they saw a million Indians, that still wouldn't truly represent the over 1 billion people constituting it. Furthermore, stop referring to Indians as a "race." Indians are an amalgamation of a ton of different peoples and come in myriad shapes, sizes, hues, and appearances. In any case "Al" on this show isn't even Indian, he's South African of Indian origin. Would you call Mike Tyson a Congolese? No. Would you call Steve Martin British? No. So let's stop with that nonsense. I too had a problem with the casting earlier, but he's pulled it off okay - so let's stop with all this nonsense about race and background and just enjoy the show for its entertainment value instead.
The Celebrity Dating Game (2021)
Fun Show. Bolton and Zooey Are Great!
Why so much complaining? For a re-hash of the original, this show's not bad at all. It's entertaining - as it's supposed to be. And they're doing a pretty good job - even without a real audience (I think). Zooey is bubbly, likeable, and funny - as she is and is supposed to be. Michael Bolton is a legend! He's great and has a wonderful voice and sense of humor. I am re-discovering him all over again and listening to him banter, joke, and sing is priceless! I suspect it's mostly the younger viewers who have no appreciation for who he is and his great sense of humor who're trying to drag this show down. The only issue I have is the guests, who come off just a tad underwhelming - all the more reason to like Zooey and Bolton for carrying it on their shoulders. Another issue I have is the sense that there's seems to be some kind of subliminal agenda afoot. But I need to watch more episodes to confirm this. Instead of complaining, let the show mature and the two hosts develop it further - although hardly any correction is needed.
Seinfeld: The Betrayal (1997)
Pathetic potrayal - again!
I like Seinfeld, but haven't seen all the episodes. I did catch this one the other night and was completely flabbergasted. What's wrong with American producers and their portrayal of India/Indians? It's so removed from reality, it ain't funny. Sure, it's a crazy place, but not "THAT" crazy. What a sad bunch of ignorant losers. I feel sorry for you guys. No wonder the world thinks we Americans live in a Lalaland of our own imagination. Sheesh!
Kim's Convenience (2016)
Great Show!
This is one of the funniest shows to come from Canadian TV for a long time. All the characters are just right. Some Koreans apparently think it plays on stereotypes. I don't think so as it's just a comedy and highlights some quirks which are actually quite endearing. So no need to feel bad. I've known some people of Korean heritage and they have been so coo and easy to get along with.l have the utmost respect for them.
